WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Yesterday, I had an excellent day. Some of you may realize that, on all days, my goal is 10,000 steps, although a challenging workout combined with a good number of steps would be equally good. I also want to limit my calories to 1200-1300 on days that I did not eat outside the home and to 1400 on days that I do. Yesterday, I met both goals. Today, I will not meet the exercise goal, but will meet the food goal.
Family is coming up here. My son-in-law had been here a day, meeting college friends, and I am taking him for brunch today at a place that he very much wants to go. Later, my daughter and the boys arrive, but son-in-law leaves because he works on Monday. My daughter the babies (baby and toddler, more accurately) leave on Tuesday. We are all staying together at my cousin's house. Food is going to be challenging, but my motivation, at the moment, may be the highest that it has been for ages. I really feel that I will be able to lose the weight and keep it off.
Here is something funny-ish. Below is the actual and entire brunch menu of the place that in just two hours, my son-in-law and I will be eating:
Blueberry Sourdough Pancake, maple syrup 16 French Omelette, mushrooms, ricotta 16 Shrimp & Grits, smoked bacon velouté 17 Eggs Benedict, prosciutto cotto, hollandaise 17 Burger & Chips, cheddar, pickles, remoulade, potato roll 18 Salad Greens, preserved orange vinaigrette 8 Benton’s Bacon 6 Cheddar Jalapeño Grits 5 Wood Fired Potatoes, pickled jalapeño, sour cream 5 7-Grain Toast & Jam 4
This will not be a pleasure to navigate. particularly because I dislike lettuce. If there are no healthy "specials," I will ask for something that will be food-program friendly.
I hope that each of us has a great, binge-free day!
Jane

C37. D16. Mostly tracking, but falling apart at the end of the day. Two 50 point days in a row.
On vacation. Lots of activity- 3 hours of hiking yesterday. We rented an RV and are touring around Lake Michigan. We're in the Michigan dunes which are jaw dropping beautiful and hard to believe exist in the middle of this country. 200 ft high sand dunes....
Foodwise, lots of healthy food! Smoked fish, salads, fruit, etc... BUT we bought a big local berry pie and I ate my share with ice cream. And there are the s'mores....
I feel like I'm getting to borderline binging. Will track every morsel today!!!

Nancy, hope your having a wonderful family visit! Jan, thanks for starting us off. Hope your having a good day! Jane, we are doing so well!! Enjoy your family time, especially those beautiful grandbabies!! Wow, brunch sounds challenging. Interested to here how you handle. Regarding husband question. DH has always has a long commute...first 15 years of marriage it was 1.75 hours each way 6 days a week, 10 hr days (so I could be a stay at home Mom, don’t know how he did it) lived in PA worked at GWB. We then moved to NJ so the last 17 years, his commute was 1 hour each way. He retired last year and is loving being home and I’m loving going to work...lol Kathy, Do the best you can! Enjoy your family time!! Great activity!!
Enjoyed a really nice three day weekend...nothing special, just some scenic drives to explore new areas...Food and exercise went well... Tomorrow night is the back to school dinner. I think I’ll do a Nancy, isolate the meal. At the meal, just enjoy and eat like a normal person....I will have a 1/2 Quest cake ready, if needed, for when I get home.
