Something I thought about on my recent 4th and final failed attempt at Freestyle is the status of WW frozen products. I had a Smart Made in my freezer and brought it for lunch one day. 9 points, which is huge when you only get 23 pts. per day, and the meal wasn't filling at all. Most of their products don't fit well at all with FS. Wonder if the plan is to phase them out?

Looks like smart made is a Heinz product and that's not a WW product, I wonder if WW has any control over them.
I have heard many, many times from members in the meeting room that they do not lose well if they are eating these frozen meals often. Not exactly sure why but it's pretty common in the meetings I go to and I think most have cut them out completely.

I used to really enjoy a few Lean Cuisine frozen meals because they were so low in calories, but apparently their sugar content is so high that the points are pretty high on FS. OMG for the Chicken with peanut sauce. I guess it's only 8 points on FS but that does seem like a lot for the serving size.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight_WatchersFrom 1978 until 1999, Weight Watchers was owned by the H. J. Heinz Company, which continues to produce packaged foods bearing the Weight Watchers brand. In October 2015 Oprah Winfrey purchased a 10% stake in Weight Watchers for an estimated $43 million.

Does it mean WW controls what Heinz does with these frozen meals or not? What does Oprah have to do with it?

Up until the time Heinz bought WW, WW was a privately held corporation. With the acquisition by Heinz, it became public by way of being a part of Heinz. When Heinz sold the company to foreign concerns, WW went private again; ultimately the foreign concerns took the company public. Through all of this, apparently as part of the sale to foreign concerns, Heinz retained the right to sell food products under the WW logo, presumably as long as they comply with the current program. That said, Mindy Grossman announced, as part of the "no artificial ingredients" initiative, that ALL products which carry the WW logo will be required to remove artificial ingredients. Of course, like the WW snack products discussion in another thread, nobody really knows what that means...but I'm sure SmartOnes will need to be reformulated to comply or will disappear from the marketplace.

I don't believe that WW has any affiliation with Smart Ones.
From the website: The SmartPoints® value for this product was calculated by Kraft Heinz Foods Company and is provided for information purposes only. This is not an endorsement, sponsorship, or approval of this product or manufacturer by Weight Watchers International, Inc., the owner of the Weight Watchers® and SmartPoints® trademarks.
I'm not quite sure why they allow Heinz to call it Weight Watcher Smart Ones, but I suppose it could have been part of the original buy-deal years ago.
The newer Smart Made products don't appear to have that.

Not sure what that means.... Does it mean WW controls what Heinz does with these frozen meals or not? What does Oprah have to do with it? Jae, I have hunted and answered your questions as best I could. Hope it helps. The Heinz company bought WW in 1978. I remembered they had bought it, but didn't remember the year. In 2013 Berkshire Hathway and 3G Capital purchased Heinz, and in 2015 Kraft announced its merger with Heinz arranged by Berkshire Hathaway and 3G Capital. So today, WW is owned by Kraft Heinz Company. Does it mean WW controls what Heinz does with these frozen meals or not?Read #4 in this article for an answer. mentalfloss.com/article/68041/12-things-you-might-not-know-about-weight-watchersOprah bought 10% with her 43.20 million bucks. She also got an option for more which would bring her holdings to 15%. www.denverpost.com/2017/11/07/weight-watchers-stock-oprah-winfrey/

I always thought people didn't lose well on frozen meals because the sodium content is so high. All the fluid retention. And almost any frozen meal, no matter what the brand, will have high amounts of sodium.

In a similar vein, there are a couple of new Oh! That's Good commercials where Oprah is salivating over her latest "allegedly healthy-ISH" products that have nothing to do with her WW affiliation.
IMO, very confusing for the innocents who believe "If Oprah loves it, it MUST be WW-friendly."
