WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C89D6, SFT, 5 points, 5 water.
I wrote everything down but only tracked the food with points online. At the end of the day, I couldn’t resist counting the calories. It came to 1315. I did get in 9 fit points but I’m not sure if that was between yesterday and today or only today. I’m thinking probably both.
I did take a nice walk this morning and another this afternoon. Then walked to pool and back plus a short walk with my friend after pool. Just short of the 10,000 steps. I think I’ll do another SFT day tomorrow.
This time I planned out tomorrow’s SFT menu – it comes to 6 points and 1001 calories which gives me a couple of hundred calories for snacks if I want them but they’d have to be simply filling foods, maybe popcorn or ff cheese or corn on the cob or soup or a glass of milk – lots of healthy choices.

Good morning. As anticipated, the air was stifling yesterday. I went to the trail for my rink both for the shade and the softer surface. I’m cutting out one day of running, as it seems I’ve had one ailment after another since I added the extra day 2 years ago. Anyway, I upped my miles to 9 yesterday. It’s the furthest I’ve gone in almost 2 years.
I had a fun afternoon of shopping, and got 3 fun workout tops. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it, but I probably have 100 of them :-) I also picked up some mace, as there have been a couple of attacks on a bike path about 45 minutes from here.
Edesia, I downloaded Trail of Broken Wings last night. It comes with the audio version, so I’ll begin listening on my run this morning. I would ask for a different antibiotic when you go for your next round of dental work, and make sure you’re eating yogurt etc in advance. Gyms thrive on people donating monthly, lol. Glad you got there during your off time.
Jane, osteopenia/osteoporosis is very common in women. Walking will help the osteopenia in your hip. I can give you exercises to help prevent osteoporosis in your arms and spine. I would start by getting 5, 8, and even 10 lb dumbbell sets, and we can figure out a time to talk. The actual routine would only take around 15 minutes, so you’ll easily be able to fit it into your schedule, even with the busy time you have coming up.
Kathy, I made kombucha for a while. The jar with the mother really grossed me out as it grew, so I eventually stopped.
Nancy, another nice warm weather evening snack would be an ice cream float. I had one with diet cream soda last night. Oh, it really hit the spot.

I ate brunch out, had a small martini, and had fewer than 1250 calories! That must be a first. I walked a bit over 10,200 steps. My 1 1/2 pound loss over the last week, plus a day or so, diminished at some point, but went back to what it was. So, I had a good weigh in for the week, to say the very least. I will not weigh myself until Sunday, which is going to be my regular weigh in day.
Until my brief is submitted on October 5, I will post as frequently, but my posts will be shorter. They must be.
I hope that each of us has a great, binge-free day.
Jane

Jan, I already have the weights! I have always wanted to add strength training. I really appreciate your offer.

I watched parts of John McCain’s funeral as time allowed. I also cried. It was wonderful to see everyone coming together to honor him, especially in this time when the country is so divided.

C38. D3. OP. Tracking. Some exercise yesterday.
Nancy- that sounds like a nice day of activities for you and letter perfect on food.
Jan- wow! 9 miles is great. Good idea to listen to your body and reduce the number of runs per week.
Jane- way to go on the low calorie day, including a martini! I was pretty serious about weight training when we moved to the farm 10 years ago. Having a gym with good weight sets and machines is one of the things I missed the most.
Today is my 24th wedding anniversary. The last year included big relationship issues and trauma as well as two farm accidents (broken bones and stitches, no overnights in the hospital). So while my marriage is better today than most past years, I am not in celebration mode....
Thanks for listening...... Kathy

Happy Labor Day (((((((Kathy)))))))
We're still here and doing okay.
I've been trying to read here but over the last week I did not manage it at all. My apologies for missing some milestones.
I tried to keep up with the 20 to 25 minute walk 3X a day but that hasn't been completely working out. I'm having limited success with shutting down Marisol's fear barking. I should be working a lot harder on it.
Weight-wise my goal is 139#. I've been hovering between that and 140 to 142. I did have a day when I hit 143 but it was not for long. I actually wanted to see if I could get down to 129 but I think with the mostly chocolate snacks that's not going to happen. And yes I am weighing myself every day. I don't want to let things go any further on the gaining side.
Sorting out clothes for Goodwill. Some of the things I'd like to keep but I just don't see myself ever fitting comfortably in them again. Still there's a short sleeve top with skirt that I keep thinking about pulling out of the bag. It's that bright pink color that looks good on me. I've been getting compliments at mass when I where my red outfits. I have way too many clothes a big contributor to my clutter issues.
When I first started working on getting rid of things I took out all the orange, yellow, and brown stuff. Green was on that list too but I did end up keeping some of that. My color palette made a comeback sometime in the last year. Fall stuff seems to be going somewhere else.
I don't think I've seen posts from Cindi for a while. I hope she comes back to us.

Hi BFFs,
I was able to get out of work a little early today so I’m enjoying some time on the deck. Yesterday, DH and I walked around a car show. It was a great way to get my steps in. The only problem was my DH wanted food from every food truck. I had a light breakfast and a bite of each of DHs food truck items (Cuban sandwich and lobster roll). When we got home, I had a big salad. So glad I didn’t get any items for myself - I was satisfied with a bite of each. I did see a gourmet cupcakes food truck. The peanut butter cupcake caught my eye and I was thinking about it last night. So for my dessert last night, I took 1/4 of my quest cake and made my yogurt frosting with chocolate pb2 and chopped up a miniature peanut butter cup to crumble on top - looked almost like the gourmet cupcake for a fraction of the point value - I was satisfied!!
Nancy, too funny...regarding couldn’t resist adding up the calories. I find that as long as it’s healthy food the calories can vary a little with no affect on the scale. It’s when the calories are for non simply filling food the scale reacts. This is the longest stretch that I have not tracked. I really had a good July. It’s one of the first things I go back to when the scale is up. Another is a simply filling day.. Jan, I was love to learn a 15 minute route for strength training. Can I also be included? Would greatly appreciate it. My doc suggested a gym and that would not work for me. It’s always nice to buy new things...whether we need them or not. I’m also pretty sure that you wear them every day....so of course, you need a change!! Jane, Wow! That was a Great day! Kathy, Wishing you and DH a much easier year ahead..... Hi Louise, nice to see your post! I also have a hard time letting go of clothing that I really like whether it fits or not but as long as I donate and know someone else will benefit - makes it a little easier... Edesia, so sorry to fear about the antibiotics...very frustrating when trying to help one thing and the side effects hinder another. Hope they can prescribe a an alternative. And yes, they did replace the other worker, but she happens to be on vacation this week and I’m her backup. Just bad timing...
Hope everyone is enjoying their day! Lori

Jane and Lori, is there a way to 3-way video conference? If not, we’ll do it separately. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all work for me in the afternoon or evening.
Louise, it’s good to see you. Cleaning out clothes is always a little unnerving, wondering if I’ll regret giving something away. Only once or twice have I regretted it.
(((Kathy))) you’ve definitely had a rough year. Marriage is hard. Two years ago on our anniversary we weren’t even speaking, and this year things were very rough. February will be 25 years, but truth be told, I don’t feel excited about it. I hope you celebrated with something special today.
