Talked to family via Skype last night. Today we plan to finish cleaning the living and family room areas and put the furniture back - we cleaned windows and moved furniture to the middle of the rooms so the water coming in (tried to avoid it but...) would not get on the furniture. Also have set my timer for 20 minutes and when it goes off will get up to exercise on the air walker for a few minutes. Idea is that enough of these timed exercise spots will add up to enough for a day and break up the time on the computer.
Goals for today: * Every 20 minutes get up and move * Record food and exercise in journal and eat SF/Core with no more than a few weeklies used...perhaps no weeklies since there is Wednesday coming soon.
* Get in the GHGs
CHERRY: If we had a freezer or dehydrator I would put aside more for later in the year BUT as we don't and since most of the jams I have made are given away I don't do much if any now.
BEVERLY: I have always enjoyed reading BUT when in a reading group/book club I found I did not like reading the books they chose for us to read. They wanted something that would be deep or meaningful or whatever. I pick and choose then rate them and post the ratings online. Have done over 1000 books through NetGalley and even more than that total. It has been educational and I now have favorite authors that have been added to my previous list. I also can pick out what I do and don't like fairly quickly when I start reading a book.
LYNN: If you don't want to put the curlers into your hair you could always sew or stick them onto a hairnet and put it over your hair for a little while...although...actually having them in your hair assures curly hair for the next day's activities
PAM: I kind of remember seeing Coco...okay...perhaps not. I just looked it up and it is an animated Disney movie? I was thinking the movie about Coco Channel? Huh...

Good morning. I managed to get quite a bit done yesterday. I picked my beans, husked corn to freeze, and got my salsa made. My son came last evening and wrapped the corn in Saran Wrap and put it into bags and into the freezer.
He wasn't planning on coming this weekend as he has a conference starting tomorrow, but he decided to take this direction to go there rather than the route south. He brought Philippine food for our dinner. He did a baptism for a Philippine family and they had a reception afterward with all kinds of food. Most of it was different kinds of meat, and it was all good.
Today he is going to turn my compost and get it mixed up well and then help me put together a little side table to go by my couch in the living room. I also have some beets that I want to roast and freeze what I don't eat for dinner this evening. These are part of my trial veggies. I may roast some of the trial carrots along with the beets too.
Have a good day, Beaches.

Hello friends,
It has finally happened, we got the call early this morning that DH's sister has passed away. She has been lingering at the point of death for over 3 weeks now, so it was certainly no surprise. She has lived a wonderful life, always surrounded by people who loved her. She had a wonderful marriage for over 50 yrs to a man that she adored & he adored her. She had 3 healthy children, who all turned out to be fine adults, truly a life well lived. We will probably be traveling to Long Island on Wed. & back on Sat. We are waiting to get the final arrangements before we make our final plans.
No plans for the day, other than dragging out a suitcase & trying to find something to wear to the funeral. The 10 lbs that I have added to my frame over the last few yrs, may make clothing selection difficult. I haven't had to get out my "funeral wear" in a few yrs. (Thank God). Other than an aunt & a couple of cousins, I think my mom was the last to go (she has been gone almost 5 yrs now), before that, we were at the funeral home every few months, we were on the first name basis with the funeral directors. Our life was surreal for a few years. It was so bad, that when our 35 yr old SIL dropped dead of a massive heart attack, nobody even paid much attention to it. We were so accustomed to death at that point that it almost seemed common place. In our small town, people are still almost afraid to associate with us, but we have survived & carried on.
Oh well, enough about my sad state of affairs.
Hope everyone has a great Labor Day & a great week.

Bev, so sorry for your loss. I wish you safe travels for the funeral.
Cathy, great idea about the hair net. Will look for one this week!
Laundry and some food prepping today. Hot as Hades again for the next two days and then rain the rest of the week.
Hugs to all!
