WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C89D7, SFT, 6 points, 1214 calories, 10,082 steps
Walked to and from clubhouse for pool, circled community with friend after pool (hot, hot, hot), circled mall twice with another friend.
Jan – I had the baked apple tonight. Delicious! Thanks. I also like the idea of the ice cream float. I’ll pick up some diet cream or root beer when I shop on Saturday. I also watched the eulogies. For the most part, they were about John McCain but directed at Trump, especially Obama’s. I don’t know how Ivanka and Jarrod could sit there without cringing. I told DH he’s not allowed to die until he sees Trump ushered out in handcuffs. If you figure a way to conference on face time, I could also benefit from the strength training.
Jane – Good luck on the brief. Understood about limited posts. There are just so many hours in a day. I’m totally retired and still find myself racing with the clock every single day.
Kathy – Happy anniversary. Wishing you a better year in that department. Beautiful picture of you and DD on Facebook.
Louise – I also have an issue getting rid of clothes. I have clothes that I haven’t worn for years and still harbor the thought that I might want them some day. I could probably cut my closet in half without missing any of it. One day…………
Lori – I just planned out today – SFT, 5 points, 1205 calories. Interesting what you say about SFT not affecting the scale even with a higher calorie count. For a while, though, I think I’ll do it this way. Counting calories is a cinch for me – I do it in a notebook and rarely have to look anything up. There will be non-SFT days when appropriate.

Good morning. It’s more of the same oppressive weather today and again tomorrow. I have a very easy work day, just one class. Tomorrow I have FIVE. Yikes. That will be my norm on Wednesdays for the next several weeks. I’m starting at a tennis club only a few minutes from my house, and looking forward to meeting new people. Soccer was changed from 7:00 to 5:00 tonight, so I got a sub for this evening’s class.
Lori, I’m still thinking about your comment re: calories and SFT foods. I did very well many years ago with Core. I bet I can still find that list online. I remember the limitation of having only one serving of rice, potatoes, or pasta per day. Glad you got out early yesterday.
Nancy, did you start this thread at 5:00 AM? I saw some negative commentary on John McCain online, from a Trump supporter of course. The divisiveness is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

Good Morning!
Nancy, great step count - especially in this hot, humid weather! and like you always say...if it works, done't fix it. You are doing Great with the calorie counting, it's working for you!! Jan, when Core came out, that was the program that really taught me how to eat healthy. I still follow some of the core rules, like the one you mentioned. I know too many carbs like bread and potatoes can lead me to trouble. I'm also okay with reduced fat items instead of fat free, like sour cream and cottage cheese...we live and learn!! I actually do have a word document regarding the The Core Program, I can email it to you if you would like.
The next two weeks will be busy at work, especially since I'm covering for my co-worker and I want to take a couple days off next week if the weather is good....I better get to work!!
Have a great day everyone! Lori
