We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!
"We are a nation of laws. Not even the president can violate the constitution. No one is above the law, not even the president." Robert Ferguson, Attorney General, WA

And now the "so-called" president has lashed out on what he calls the "so-called" judge. Really? He's attacking the judiciary? A Republican judge appointed by George Bush. He just has to have his own way... somebody better start saying NO...loud and often. www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-judge-james-robart-234645

Good-morning my lovelies, Oh The Dumpy is soooooo masterful. He is worrying about a dress code for woman as he leads us to the brink of war. What a wanker. So, remind me what has he done for the poor people who voted for him? Oh right he banned Muslims! On another note I hope Chelsea Clinton does not engage in twitter fight with KAC. They have already had a back and forth. Chelsea is too good for her! Scrape KAC off your shoe Chelsea and keep moving. Sorry to see "Vincent Viola, an Army veteran and founder of a high-speed trading firm nominated by U.S. President Donald Trump to be secretary of the Army, withdrew his name from consideration on Friday, a U.S. official said." IMHO I think he has some integrity.

I wonder when he is going to start "acting like a man?" Well, we know the answer. Diaper Boy never will.
I bet he's one of those fetishists who likes to wear a great big diaper and suck on a big pacifier and make poo poo in his deidy drawers. Can't you just see it?

Robert Reich 18 mins · "The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!" Trump tweeted this morning. Trump was referring to federal Judge James Robart (a Bush appointee, by the way) who yesterday put a nationwide hold on Trump’s travel ban. Someone needs to teach Trump that under the Constitution, the judiciary is independent. For a President to level a personal attack on a federal judge who disagrees with him is a dangerous overstepping of presidential power. Trump’s rant is further evidence that he seeks to be a dictator, not a president. At the very least, Congress must censure Trump for this brazen attack on the independence of the courts, and on the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution. (I hope there's a motion of censure Monday, and that it's bipartisan.) What do you think?

What I think is that I'd love to see this happen. Tweety needs to learn he is not the center of the universe and the world does not revolve around him at his whim. But, I will be very surprised to see this happen at least on a bipartisan level.
Temper tantrums and more temper tantrums that are eventually going to lead us straight into war. My 6 and 8 year old grandchildren are far better behaved and treat others with far more respect.

Robert Reich 1 hr · Here’s how Trump turns lies into nearly acceptable truth. Step 1: Trump lies. Step 2: Experts contradict him, saying his claim is baseless and false. The media report that the claim is false. Step 3: Trump blasts the experts and condemns the media for being “dishonest.” Step 4: Trump repeats the lie in tweets and speeches. He asserts that "many people" say he's right. Step 5: The mainstream media start to describe the lie as a “disputed fact." Step 6: Trump repeats the lie in tweets, interviews, and speeches. His surrogates repeat it on Fox News and in the right-wing blogosphere. Step 7: The mainstream media begin to describe Trump’s lie as a "controversy." Step 8: Polls show a growing number of Americans (including most Republicans) believe Trump’s lie to be true. Step 9: The media start describing Trump’s lie as "a claim that reflects a partisan divide in America,” and is “found to be true by many.” Step 10: The public is confused and disoriented about what the facts are. Trump wins.

Tweety must be having, as we would say here in the south, a major hissy fit this morning since the appeals court rejected his appeal. Of course it's not over, but twice now the judicial system has slapped his hand and told him he's not omnipotent. Must be very hard for him to take.

Does anyone else "cringe" when Pence says " the American people think it's refreshing to have a President talk the way he does" ( referencing the "so called judge statement").... or how often Pence uses the word "Homeland"... ??.....and then he excuses away & dances around Tweety's statement comparing Putins killing to the US & we are just as bad....as someone tweeted Tweety puts the US on moral par as Putin, a killer. Wonder if Pence ever feels like choking on his words in having to defend Tweety all the time. Probably not!

Good NY Times article, Pat/PBNJ. This quote especially stood out to me: "But discrediting independent sources of information also has two major advantages for Mr. Trump: It helps insulate him from criticism and it allows him to create his own narratives, metrics and 'alternative facts.' All administrations lie, but what we are seeing here is an attack on credibility itself."
Linda, I don't think anyone in this administration ever feels like choking on their words. I think they have all embraced lying almost as an art form and are diligently and knowingly practicing it daily. We are living in a George Orwell world, and a very large segment of the population doesn't just not realize it, but doesn't care.

Oh my gosh! Can it possibly get any worse? Jerry Falwell, Jr. is going to lead an education task force for Tweety. Science and facts are flying out the window never to be heard from again. With Betsy DeVos and Falwell, I am terrified about my grandchildren's future. It just keeps getting worse and worse all the time. Just when I think he has struck rock bottom, he goes down even further. Of course, he would never allow those two people to have any input on the education of his child or grandchildren.
