Listening to Kavanaugh's speech at his swearing in ceremony at the WH tonight, his list of those he is beholden to, was pretty darn long. JA opening remarks were political, no two ways about it. UGH...so it begins!!!.......or just continues😩

Have any of you seen the new ad in opposition to Ted Cruz making fun of his "Tough as Texas" slogan? I just saw it, and thought it was hilarious. DotRen , how do you think it will be perceived in Texas?

Cruz still makes my skin crawl. Both he & Linsey Graham had all these nasty things to say about JA during the 2016 Elections when they were running against JA & now both are kissing you know what for JA's support or because they want something from him. The political ambition of both these men oozes out to them like sweat. I think if a snake could run for Cruz's seat, I would vote for the snake & I hate snakes.... The ad was pretty funny. Leave it to an older person to tell it like it is...LOL

I agree with @lka5, He's creepy! But: as much as I dislike him, he has a job to do, and that means he as to try an "get along" to a certain degree with the powers that be. Could I ignore if my "boss" took jabs at my spouse and kids? Hell no! But I do understand at the basic level that you don't have to like someone to do your job with them (does that make sense?).
As far as the Texas race: I really don't like either major party candidates lol.

I agree that both Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham are the personification of slime. I would also agree to some extent that you have to try and work together. One of the biggest problems in Washington is that it is so divided and the two parties no longer try to work together about anything. However, I think there is a very big difference between working together for a common goal and kissing up to someone the way Cruz has done to Trump every since Trump won the election. I see that as total hypocrisy, so I would agree with Linda that anyone would be a better choice than Cruz.
Here in TN I am very disappointed in Bredesen's statement that were he in the Senate he would have voted yes on Kavanaugh. That statement was strictly made because TN is such a red state. However, I will vote for him because anything is better than Marsha Blackburn. With Ted Cruz, however, I see no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Joyce, did you see Taylor Swift come out against Marsha Blackburn & is now encouraging all her followers to vote Democrat? Her Twitter following is HUGE & I just read where thousands have now registered to vote. It even caught JA attention....LOL...the GOP is always bashing celebrities during elections, but, I think celebrities have more of an impact on voting than the GOP thinks. Of course JA has Kanye West support...LOL...thinking I may want Tayor Swifts support over Kanye...
Still makes me so mad this morning that JA apologized on "behalf of the nation" to Kavanaugh last night & said he was proven "innocent"...Dr. Ford can't even return home yet, because of continued threats. So friggin unfair!

DT's "on behalf of the nation" represents less than half the nation.

Yes, I did see that about Taylor Swift, Linda. I hope her statement will make an impact. She is hugely popular, and actually a very nice person. She grew up in Hendersonville, the town we just moved from. She was a very successful recording artist even while still in high school there, and was well liked by the other kids (from what I heard those kids saying who knew her -- I did not know her). Hendersonville while being a bedroom community for Nashville is really a small town.
As for JA apologizing for the nation, well don't make any apologies for me. The Republican party is who owes the entire nation a huge apology, IMO.

But I do understand at the basic level that you don't have to like someone to do your job with them To me there's a BIG difference between doing your job and sucking up to your boss. Where I worked we called those kind of people ass kissers or suck ups or a brown nose. Besides, Cruz doesn't work for the maniac traitor in the WH, he works for the people of Texas. He's a two faced phony. So is Graham. Both deplorable people who are NOT, imho, doing their job. What they're doing is covering their own butts. They're disgusting and disgraceful and weak and wimpy little men. I never listen to anything the jerk in the WH says. I turn the station every time he or his minions are on. No matter what he said I believe this is what he meant, " Women, sit down and shut the hell up!" And the dead eyed crowds of men and foolish women still cheer him on.

Why did Nikki Haley resign?......Wonder what the real story is there? I hope she finally decided not be a yes girl for the JA...I wonder if it has to do with JA words about Kanvanaugh & Ford or a combo of things .Very interesting!!!

The acts of political expediency are so aggravating. Where I think Ted Cruz has just been trying to keep his job, the real mystery is how Lindsay Graham came to embrace a mindset opposite of his entire tenure in Congress.
I'm impressed that Taylor Swift took a big risk to out herself on her political beliefs. So far, it's having the intended impact. She will very likely experience some backlash from her conservative fans. She was born here in PA and moved to TN at age 14.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hayley makes her own bid for president. She's extremely popular, especially with the "Never-Trumpers" coalition of the Republican party. At some point, we have to make a break from the "cult of personality" in our politics.

Wow! It really is interesting that Nikki Haley has resigned, and I'd also like to know the reason behind that. Maybe she just couldn't stomach this administration any longer? Maybe the JA wanted her to do something that was finally a bridge too far for her? Will definitely be looking forward to hearing more in depth about that.
Pam, it was a big risk for Taylor Swift to come out and take a political stand. I hope it will go well for her.
As for Lindsey Graham, their must be something he really wants badly from the JA. He's really nuts though if he thinks he can trust the JA to come through with it for him. He may and then again he just as easily may not.

What they're doing is covering their own butts. T True of most politicians! However, I know it's also easier to enact change from within rather than beating at the outside walls. Well, usually. This administration has challenged most conventional thinking. I'm not sure he CAN change, we already know he's unwilling to do anything other than what he wants to do.
