People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
Questions of the day: Monday: Karen E; Tuesday: Ann; Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C: Sunday: Gail.

Karen when I start a post if I get booted when I come back and hit reply again I get a message saying a draft was saved and do I want to go back to it?
Debbie's attorney called her last night since she wasn't able to get her into the office. She said from now on she's not to respond to Jeff's texts as he has gotten to the stage of disrespecting Debbie and her religion and that's totally unnecessary. His attorney stayed on for one more week so did send a response to Debbie's proposal. He felt it unfair to be asked to look at ten places a week for a job and felt three was more than enough, Debbie's attorney will agree to five since she said he's so pathetic, he wanted his truck and their car reappraised on blue book value which Debbie said fine but he wanted access to Maija's savings and checking accounts since Debbie has access. Debbie said she only had access because Maija was underage when it was opened but she'll take her name off as no way will she allow him to have access and why in the world does he want that? But the big thing and Debbie's attorney said she would doublecheck is they had said once the farm sold alimony would stop and he did not show objection to that so it's possible by December that would end. He did object to any amount of money he make being deducted from the alimony saying that just was not fair. Debbie said that's fine as once the alimony stops he will have to pay her child support and his portion of the school tuition starting in January until April but the tuition he will have to pay part of until she is finished with all her education. Plus he was told at the beginning of September to start looking for a job and he hasn't so he won't have a paycheck anyway. Her attorney agreed it was a good idea to forget about buying him out on the house and to find another but don't close any deals until the divorce is final which hopefully will be November 5th. She did see one her and Maija love. It's a duplex and the basement is finished like a separate apartment. She has an appointment to see it at 7 tonight and asked us to go along. Maija's pretty excited and it's about 17 years old. Her attorney said if the owners will go along Debbie could sign a contract to rent until the divorce is final and then buy it, that is if after seeing it she wants to buy it. But I think it takes 30-60 days to close a deal so it's possible the deal wouldn't close until after the divorce is final anyway. But she can check with her realtor on that as she would be more savvy on that than a divorce lawyer would be. If Jeff doesn't buy her out and the house goes up for sale we would loan her the down payment.
The kitten played way too rough yesterday and grabbed onto my arm and drew blood. The way it looked Fred said did he bite you? I said no he just had one paw dig in with all claws out so it was the shape of the paw. But it got so wild and went after Bailey but this time Bailey stood her ground and really growled and the kitten went into a very submissive stance and now Bailey realizes there's nothing to fear and started playing with it like Bridgette does. So no more fear by either of my girls but no aggression now either as I think the kitten knows it's boundary with them.

Good morning!
I don't have much on my agenda today except for my life group meeting tonight.
Ladies Bible study went well yesterday. We actually start the study next week so yesterday was a get acquainted session. There were at least 6 ladies that are new and it was so nice to get to know them.
Sandy, those little kitty claws are sharp!! If he's co-operative Maija can trim them up. I have to give my cat's nails a trim occasionally.
Gail, you're a busy bee today.

Good morning. Hope Sharon is having a good travel day. It is lovely here. 72 at 8:00 a.m. so I know it will be warmer than yesterday. Still working on getting summer clothes into the attic. This happens every year, as I put hot weather clothes away the hot weather returns. I know it will be only for a short time and I do have plenty in the closet to get me through these days. Put together some Hebrew National hot dogs with peppers and onions. This morning I put about 1/4 cup of that mixture in a pan, broke an egg on top and fried it up. I love flavor for breakfast. I will have my turkey vegetable soup for lunch after yoga class. DGS has a baseball game in Nashville at 6:00 so I will be on the road to see him this evening. Lots to do before my son arrives on Tuesday to do my kitchen floor. I am super excited to get it done, but preparing for it - no so much.
Sandy what a mess Jeff is. He really seems to think he is in charge and his opinion is the only one that counts. Hopefully his bubble will be brust soon.

Sandy I too cut cat's claws with nail clippers. If they fight IO hold them up by the scruff of their neck and just clip away. It may take two, but well worth the effort.

Good morning. On the road again. So far Don is doing the driving became of my back. I am miserable. I see more therapy in my future.
Vicki we ate at Cracker Barrel last evening. I can’t say it was WW friendly but the staff accommodated my food allergy. I so appreciate that.
We are just passing through Birmingham AL and hope to be near Crystal a River for the night. Then home Thursday midday.
Sorry no question today, but here is a quote for you to ponder.
“Life is all about how you handle plan B”

Greetings:
Sandy, I just tried that and it didn't work for me. I didn't have much of a message, just a few words, but did not return.
I did post a message on the website help thread. Maybe there is a setting I need to have the draft return. It is so frustrating and totally operator error.
Karen E I'd offered you our post hole digger. When they did our fence earlier this year they left it. Every time they came back to work on the gate, 5 or 6, I thought they'd take it. But nope. My son suggests selling it. Would have been happy to hand it over the fence, or through the gate, to you!
All you drivers.... drive safely.
I advertised through Nextdoor and one of the Facebook groups for a house cleaner. I have someone coming at 1 to look at the house. She sounds good and had a good reference. The other one hasn't called me back.
Had breakfast at a place new to us yesterday. Great pumpkin pancakes. I'll be eating them two more days! This place gets great reviews and on Saturdays we drive by it after the Farmers' Market. Easily 50 people standing around. But on Tuesday, not a problem! I do like being retired.
We finished up, I think, our Hawaii reservations yesterday. Everything was such a challenge! And DH discovered we'd selected the wrong airport from which to depart so we had to change that one and there was a $30 change fee which was 30% of the cost of a ticket! And I'd made a new one before cancelling that one only to find out they don't refund. so we had to go through lots of reps to get that taken care of. I said that this afternoon I want him to look through all of our reservations and make sure they all are right.
Floods in Tucson from Hurricane Rosa and the pictures are quite something. We are getting warm air but not so much rain. Maybe rain later today.
Time to dress for gym class.

Karen E I can certainly see your family relies on you. It’s good you are able to help.
Karen C reservations and planning are more difficult to deal with. When we were working and multitasking things were easier. I was glad my family was in charge of arrangements and such when we were visiting.
On the subject of bad back, I am bra-less and I love it. Hope I don’t see someone I know. 😆

Finally got here. What a strange day we had. This was a day we didn't have to get up so Don was up before 7 and at 7:20 as I was dozing a very loud noise had me jumping up and running thru the house (well walking as fast as I can) and the alarm was going off in the car. Don had gone into the garage and opened his car door and the alarm went off--WHY so I clicked the key fob and it stopped and he went out and opened the door again and it went off again. Don't know what was going on. But it started my day with me shaking and unable to stand on my own so had to hold on to the wall and get back to the bed room. I sat there and read and dozed and then the phone rang. Someone asking if we had called him so our phone number being used by robot or whatever kind of call. We got dressed and took Don's walker to the person who said he would look at it. Took him about 10 min and he cut his finger doing it and I got the blood on me. Left there and went for a haircut and I forgot whee I was going and automatically turned the way I go most of the time. So took a longer route to Great Clips then we had planned. Walked right in with no waiting and then I started coughing--dry throat thing going on. Finally got that over and went into Publix and got a couple of items and back to the car and headed home. Saw a new building going up (a bank) and Don says looks like a Taco Bell so he decided he wanted a taco. We have been here 12 years and that was our second trip to taco bell. It was good so I didn't have to fix any dinner. Then I got on the computer and tried to block our credit reports and we only have one email so I couldn't do it for both of us but found that Don's said a new car purchase in Mar and a loan. Of course that wasn't him. So had to give a lot of info about Don and make a phone call. Then I finally figured out how to make another email account. We used to have two but hadn't for probably 10 years and I didn't remember how to change from one to another so got that figured out. I was on the phone about that for almost an hour so a simple job turned out to take me more than 2 hours.
Waving to everyone....I do get it read and

Late to the party today.
After yoga I went to lunch with girlfriends. We went to Crispers which is much like Panera and owned by Publix. I had a superfood salad and a cup of butternut squash soup (that had much more flavor that Panera's). After lunch we went to Sprout's Farmers Market. On Wed. you can get last week's bargains and the new ad. I love that store but it is so far away. They are building one that will be closer to us but will not open until March.
Sandy, I have not seen that message when I start a post either. Glad the fur babies have acclimated to one another. Sorry the kitty injured you. I have not had any luck with trimming nails on a kitten. You may need to let the kitty know your boundaries.
Geri, I never need to get cooler clothes out until almost Halloween. I do keep some warm weather clothes handy because in FL there are always some warm days. All of my extra clothes are in the back bedroom in dresser drawers, so the change over is easy. How exciting to have a new kitchen floor and a visit from your son at the same time.
Sharon, Sorry your back is too sore to drive. Travel can be miserable when you are achy. I was really worried about my knee when we went to Chattanooga but it actually seems much better. Since we have returned I have not worn a knee brace for exercise and yoga. I get a little twinge now and then, if I move it wrong.
Jane, Your life is certainly never boring! I don't know how you seem to get it all done.
