Tonight I watched a movie on Netflix that I liked, PRIVATE LIFE, starring Paul Giamatti and Kathryn Hahn as a couple that is happily married but in the midst of trying to have a child. They try everything: adoption, IVF, surrogate mother...everything. So there is one huge frustration in their lives. The acting here is perfect. We expect that from Giamatti, but I was unfamiliar with Hahn and she is also topnotch. You almost feel like you are watching real life. Some parts were funny, others poignant. I'm glad I saw it.
Thanks for the links, Anne.
And I got my MBA at Pace University in NY, with which THE ACTORS STUDIO is affiliated. I always enjoyed the show.
This evening is big for TV watching: THE DURRELLS IN CORFU, POLDARK, and MADAME SECRETARY. I will DVR the latter so I do not have to watch the ads

"THE DURRELLS IN CORFU, POLDARK, and MADAME SECRETARY". That sound you hear from south of you is a sigh of contentment......

Thank you for the clarification, Gail. I had the two movies, Star is Born and the Way We Were, confused.
Ann, I haven't seen 'Actor's Studio' for quite some time. Robin Williams was hysterical. I saw most all of the interviews, too. So great, to see! I miss it. Wish they would rerun them.
I saw the RBG documentary a few months ago at our little historical theater in Hingham. It was an amazing film, an extraordinary woman and what a life!
Tomorrow I'm taking a ride with a friend to the new MGM Casino in Springfield. Hopefully we will see some foliage to make it a worthwhile trip.
Ciao for now!

I have not been watching much but of course POLDARK, that is my very favorite. Tried some of the new shows but most I have decided not to bother with. THIS IS US is very hard to beat. I do like 911 but maybe not as much as last year. But Chicago Fire is always a treat!! I started PBS MY MOTHER AND OTHER STRANGERS but I had seen this before so not sure if there are any newer ones or not have not tried to look it up. maybe the series is no more. Anyway don't want to watch the reruns.
I plan on watching BOOK CLUB when I get home tonight. Have been so busy when I sit down I tend to relax with a book for a bit and then am ready for bed.
Going to see how New Great Grand Baby Emma Louise is doing at home. My DD is coming in and I am going to drive it with her instructions and see if I will be comfortable driving to DGDs house. I seem to be lot more nervous about driving to new places than I used to be and DD insisted on being with me, I am sure happy about that.
I watched a discussion on A STAR IS BORN on TV and honestly I wish the younger generation should watch the original movie of these remakes. That is all I am going to say on this subject but my DGD#2 usually takes my suggestion and watches the original, she is like me Loves them. And gets what I am saying. Newer is not better.

THE HUMBLING
"Adapted from a Philip Roth novel, this steamy drama follows an elderly, fading actor after he retires and moves to a farmhouse, where he develops a strange and intense relationship with a young woman." Cast Al Pacino, Dianne Wiest, Greta Gerwig, Charles Grodin, Kyra Sedgwick, Nina Arianda, Mary Louise Wilson, Dan Hedaya, Billy Porter, Victor Cruz, Steve Rosen, Andrea Barnes, Dylan Baker Director Barry Levinson
A little/lot strange movie (figure out what she means by that), best if you like Al Pacino and a movie directed by Barry Levinson.
Al Pacino is such a great actor. Still hard to believe he was that hottie in The God Father.
Gail some good shots of lower Fairfield county.
