WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C90D10, 18 points, 4 rollovers, 8 water, 1196 calories, 13,657 steps
Walk with friend this morning twice around community, another solo walk later, then walk to and fro clubhouse for pool.
Jan – How nice that you got to spend some quality time with Alex. It is official BTW that simply filling is a goner. The explanation is that zero points tend to duplicate the effort.
Lori – You are the queen of maintenance. Do you have Columbus Day off?
Jane – So what are you doing about the second vaccine? I’m also petrified of shingles having witnessed several extreme cases of it.

Good morning. Yesterday was an epic fail in regards to food, but the Browns did win—only the second time in almost 2 years. I had a good 6 mile run in the morning, and ended the day at over 25k steps. I’m back on plan today!
We have the meeting with the school administration today. I’m nervous, though it’s not my a** on the line. We are seeded #2 in the soccer playoffs, fingers crossed that the meeting goes well. I hope this kid has learned his lesson!
Lori, great idea to bring popcorn to the party. Just a few days left of work before you’re off to Sedona!
Jane, how are you feeling? You’ll be in Japan soon!
Kathy, oy about the septic problem. We had that not too long ago. Will you be getting a plumber to fix the issue? Very funny about the duct tape and Saran Wrap. The statistic about Garland and Kavanaugh is interesting. I’m curious what Jane’s take on that is.
Nancy, I understand why they don’t feel they need Simply Filling anymore. It is a slightly different plan, though.

I am doing sloppily with food, but only in that I have not counted calories in a number of days. However, with one exception on Saturday evening when I had some crunchy junk -- which is not a recurring issue for me -- I have been eating quite nutritiously. Oh, I forgot that I also had a Campari and soda yesterday, and a small martini on Friday night, If only to get back into the real swing of things, I am going to track what I eat today. I have no desire to be on an eating program and no desire to overeat and, sadly, no desire to cook. Fortunately, I am able to make do with what I have in the house until I leave early Friday morning, although I will need to pick up some vegetables. Oddly enough, vegetables are about the most interesting things on my current food repertoire.
I am blah about me, although not particularly concerned. I am very upset about a dear, dear friend, who was diagnosed on Friday with what they hope is early stage ovarian cancer. She is being operated upon on Wednesday and will have chemotherapy afterwards. I am speechless. She is married to one of my very best friends. I have known him (and her) for 40 years. She considers me about her closest friend. I love the whole family, including her children (one a DJ in Moscow, and one in business in NYC), and her elderly mom who lives in Idaho, and hate to see anything bad happen. Some of you may know that her brother, also from Idaho, was murdered there a few years ago. Her dad, who was an exceptional person, died fairly recently. They have been through so much.
Jan - I love Sherrod Brown too. I hope that the meeting goes well!
Nancy - I took both dosages of the new shingles vaccine. My dad had shingles and I witnessed his suffering. For that reason, I felt particularly strongly about getting the newer vaccine. I did have a slight reaction to the second dosage, but nothing like Kathy's.
You may realize that the court in which 90 percent of my practice occurs is the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, which is the NY/Connecticut/Vermont equivalent of the DC Circuit, the court upon which Justice Kavanaugh sat until recently and upon which Merrick Garland also sat. It is not surprising that their voting records coincided. Most of the cases that the United States Courts of Appeals for the various circuits hear are not terribly controversial. Some of them are simply appeals that are taken as a matter of right. So, I cannot really glean anything -- at least not anything positive --- from the fact that their opinions on legal issues often coincide. It would be alarming if they did not.
I am wishing each of us a great, binge-free day!

C39. D10. OP. Tracking. Walked 6 miles and feeling close to 100%. Hope to start running again.
Nancy - belated 'wow'on the fabulous weight loss. You are in a great grove with your activities and food in moderation. That was my second shingles shot - as bad as the first - but I was convinced that getting shingles would be worse.
Jane - hope you are doing well... Would like to hear your thoughts on Kavanaugh and Garland supporting each other's judicial opinions 93% of the time. Is that common among judges that we view as having vastly different ideologies???
Jan - sorry to hear about the epic food fail.... But wow! on the 25,000 steps.
Lori - hope that party went well. I love popcorn - I bought some black truffle salt and it is my favorite snack :-)
Louise - hope you're off to a good start to the week.
Beth and EDESIA and Ms. Meg - we miss you!!!
Hi to all who follow.

Hi BFFs,
Well, the party was a complete surprise (which was really nice). Eating wise, I could have been better, could have been a lot worse. The popcorn helped tremendously!!! I brought the smartpop white cheddar, 35 cal a cup. Everyone seemed to be snacking on it. There were no good food choices - I had a little of everything, mini roast beef slider, meatball, rib, deviled egg, potato salad (only salad avail). I had a small piece of cake and two cookies + the pumpkin truffle I made. So I overdid it but didn't go crazy (I wanted more, but was able to stop). We got home around 6 and I found myself starting to do the search (I did have one cookie) then remembered the leg cramps, sleepless night and the OD feeling in the morning and was able to stop. I would say it was an improvement from past parties. I'll be following MFP today and see how the scale is tomorrow....this week, I have one dinner out with DSILs to celebrate the October birthday's!!
Yes, we do have work today - crazy morning - just got internet working. It will be a very busy week before vacation.
Hi to Everyone!! Lori

It’s been a stressful day. I had a meeting at the school, and they keep changing the rules with the requirements to get him back on the field. I’ve talked to another parent who was in this same situation, and her son was reinstated after only 2 games. They are singling him out, and we don’t know why. Well actually....... The good news is that I’ve only had 6 points of non-Core foods, and I’ve had very controlled Core portions today.
