TOOT, TOOOOT! CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville down the track and into your station so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
Today it was 54º and cloudy and overcast with showers in the morning and going up to 63º and cloudy with rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon and wind ENE 5 to 10 mph. We are in a flood watch until Wednesday with the rain.
I think the only person scheduled to come today is the speech therapist. Maybe the social worker will come today since she didn’t get here Saturday.
Yesterday MJ, Hannah and I went to Trinity Lutheran Church where we have asked our membership to be transferred. The service was very nice, and the pastor prayed for our family in the prayer time. The people are very friendly too. Rachael and Sarah stayed home since Sarah had a fever and Rachael’s POTS was making her feel miserable.
For supper we had a chicken, rice, green beans, carrots dish seasoned with soy sauce and it was good – memories of Japanese food when we lived there.
The rest of the day was quiet, and I spent some time in my comfortable chair reading another mystery on my Kindle.

Good morning Doris & ATF,
Drizzle currently but should clear up to a cloudy period then rain again in the afternoon. Currently 67; the high will be upper 70's, 100% humidity.
Today being Columbus Day most of our schools are closed. At least the twins and TJ (home schooled) doesn't have school. So they are enjoying their day off.
Sorry to hear Rachael is having issues with POTS and Sarah with a fever. Hope everyone is well for school tomorrow. So nice to see you starting up the train this morning.....just like old times! Phyllis did a great job for you in starting us up.
Need to grocery shop sometime today so that is pretty much all that's on my agenda.
Have a great day everyone!

Emily,
It sounds like you will have a quiet day today except for grocery shopping.
All three girls are in school today, although I know Rachael would have loved to stay home. Sarah doesn't like her teacher this year, so she doesn't want to go to school either. Hannah is the only one who goes willingly and she will graduate in May.
I don't know if the public schools are off today or not, but Lincoln Lutheran is a private school and they are in school.

Good morning.
Storms went past us last night, so we had no issues. Today, 70º to 83º is the expected range. Today is a normal busy Monday. DH has gone to pickup the groceries, and I will put them away when he gets back -- with his help, of course. The dryer just buzzed, so I need to get it out and folded.
Hope the girls settle down about school this year. Sarah is normal -- fourth graders don't like the teacher. This is according to Avery, my fourth grade DGD! She could be right. DGS (12) said she was right. Kids are funny! Hope Rachael starts to feel well. Poor kid. Hannah is really growing up! Our kids are in school today. Nice that your schools observe Columbus DAy, Emily.
Have a happy day! Diane

Diane,
Your temperatures sound really nice. I wouldn't mind having low 80's for a while. I think ours feels colder because we've had so much rain the past couple of weeks.
Maybe it is that all kids don't like 4th grade teachers. I wonder what it is about that grade.

Im laughing cause I didn't think our kids that age liked very much. My youngest Grandson whined about everything and cried at drop of a hat. Worse than when the girls were 13 yrs old. the rest hated school, didn't like any food but chicken fingers etc etc etc. LOL
I am off to get a perm. Hot and humid today, like August!!
Emma and Mommy going home today. Daddy will be there for a couple of weeks also. Nice Dads get time off too.

Connie,
Thanks for your input on the schools/4th grade. You may be right that no kids like 4th grade. Sarah has always said she wants to be home schooled. I know Rachael's problem is the POTS and it can make her miserable. This morning she went to school after she threw up, so we know she wasn't feeling good, but she can't miss too many days.
I hope you will be able to spend some time with Emma when she gets home.

I have 4th and 5th grade DGD's.They are the girls who live in different towns than we do so don't know if they hate their teachers. They both are the kids in the family that are the easy going ones and when they get to see each other which is only once a year it's as if they just take off from the last time. Doris I'm glad that Trinity is a good fit for you.
This morning it has been raining off and on all morning and afternoon I guess. I went to the Y and then wanted to take a walk outside but it was raining so went to HyVee as I needed somethings and used the isles to get a nice walk and a nice surprise too! It just warms my heart anytime I see any of our 4 children and lo and behold there was Matt in his work shirt standing by the meat counter. He was picking up food for work so they could grill at work this noon and I got a nice visit too. He's taking off Thursday to take Maddie to her college visit as their mom has a new job and can't take off. He's happy for his senior daugher and she sounds like Hannah that she likes school. she even surprised her dad the weekend before last as she was one of the finalists for homecoming queen. Matt puts lots of miles on that old Toyota driving back and forth to where the kids live 3 1/2 hours away.
We have a new rain gauge and so far there is .50" in it.

Helen,
It was a nice surprise for you to meet Matt at HyVee and you got to talk to him for a while. Its nice that he can take Maddie to her college visit too. Congratulations to her too on being one of the Homecoming queen finalists.
It sounds like a lot of rain is expected today and tonight since there is a flood watch for the next three days.
