Happy Day All!
We had an uneventful trip down here yesterday and my neighbor bought us supper - leftover shrimp boil from their supper the night before - shrimp, red potatoes, corn on the cob and andouille sausage. Also some fried fish we didn't have room for, but will have for lunch today. It all was so good and I didn't have to cook. We were both exhausted and went to bed early.
DH is really wound up about this storm - Michael. I'm concerned, of course, but for some reason he's really a little frantic. Part of it is the waiting. It could make a direct hit here or go a bit east of us which would be much better for us. Then it pushes the water out of our bay rather than in our bay. While I don't mean to wish ill on those east of us, I am praying it goes that way. High winds are bad enough, but we've had the whole house surrounded by water twice before because of storm surge. It also totalled my car in the garage and a truck down in the shop, not to mention all DH's tools, etc, in the shop. Prayers are most welcome!
Charlie and I walked this morning and it's so much easier here on flat ground! I didn't go too far as my back and feet still hurt from the trip yesterday, but it did get me going. Charlie was ecstatic with all the different smells - deer tracks and lots of squirrels chattering at us.
Oh - please feel free to start any time. Remember, I'm now on Central Time so won't be starting as early.
A couple of personals -
Dayle - are you going to have a fireplace in the dollhouse? Don't know why I thought of that.....but pictured you making one.
Connie - I love the DGGD name, Emma Louise! Beautiful!
Lin - love the pictures. So glad you're enjoying yourself.
Gotta go - DH just asked me to show him how to operate something on the vacuum cleaner and I sure don't want him to change his mind!
Cheers to all -

Good morning Penny & ATF,
Drizzle currently but should clear up to a cloudy period then rain again in the afternoon. Currently 67; the high will be upper 70's, 100% humidity.
Today being Columbus Day most of our schools are closed. At least the twins and TJ (home schooled) doesn't have school. So they are enjoying their day off.
Connie, congrats on the birth of Emma Louise!
Penny, will pray that "Michael" turns and doesn't damage or hurt anyone.
Need to grocery shop sometime today so that is pretty much all that's on my agenda.
Have a great day everyone!

Have not seen much news being elsewhere and out...hope Michael fizzles fast and does no damage. Going to Troy today which DSIL insists has become lovely and interesting...that would be a major change from when we lived here! Making apple pie later . Supper out with both families.
photo is a Silver Beach west Falmouth. Next one is heavy surf and wind on Eastern national sea shore

Lin, Troy wasn't great when I went to college there. Hope it has improved.
Penny, I don't want to evacuate again, twice in two years is enough. But Michael will be in the Gulf, not on the Atlantic. How close are you to water, Penny?
Lots of rain expected today and the rest of the week, everyone have a super day.

Geri - we are right on the bay. Well, really we're at the mouth of Laird Bayou, but opens into East Bay. This is the last big surf we had and it wasn't a hurricane, just a storm.

Yes, Geri, my reaction. Troy stores are closed Mondays because of farmers markets and festivals on weekends, so off to Stuyvesant Plaza near our university in Albany . Nice independent book store there.

Morning All!
Shows you where Iāve had my head these last few days ā didnāt even know there was a hurricane heading for US. Penny Iāll get my prayers said that all will be well. My sister just flew back to Florida where she will stay until thanksgiving. She lives in the Fort Meyers area, so she should be relatively safe. I think it was last year that they got hit pretty hard. They didnāt have electricity for weeks. After Sandy, I can relate to that. I remember you posting pictures of your beautiful home Penny and remembered you were right on the water. Thatās got to be a bit scary when they are predicting a direct hit.
As to fireplaces, my initial plan was to have one in the kitchen and one in the living room. Iām not sure the one in the kitchen is going to happen because space is limited. I may have to build two houses to have everything I want in them. But thatās getting a bit ahead of myself. I thought about putting an old British type heater/stove in the attic too. Weāll see when I get there. Right now I am focused on getting the walls and floor in all rooms, so I can get started with the miniatures. I have to paper and paint each room first because I need to lay the house down and stand it up to get everything aligned. Canāt do that with furniture in it.
Phyl, my sister is a quilter ā the modern kind. She went to a show near Philly about a month ago and came home with a ālong armā quilting machine. I think thatās a sewing machine that you use to do the actual quilting part (not the piecing part) of the quilt. She said she ātraded upā her old quilting machine, but it sounds like this one was really expensive. From what I understand it is also heavy as heck. Her son recently moved out and she has taken over his bedroom as a quilting room. Its upstairs and she is trying to figure out how she is going to get the machine up there. Her husband hurt his back over the summer and canāt lift it. It comes in three pieces, but apparently all pieces are a bit heavy. Up until now, sheās only done small lap quilts and wall hangings. I guess sheās moving on to the big stuff now. I understand there is a creativity to making quilts ā mixing color and form to make something beautiful. But I guess Iām from the old school where the sewing was part of the art form- the hand detail. Whatever she does, is always beautiful ā she is very creative, so I am eager to see what she makes with her new toy.
Didnāt make it to my project yesterday. I did the wash and then got caught up in cleaning the dining room a bit more. It took a direct hit on the dust from last week and the furniture looked so dull and sad, so I perked it up a bit. Itās smiling a bit now.
So today I will work my way back to the āhouseā and play some. Iāll post again after I get all the wallpaper and flooring in.
Peggy Sue, hope youāve enjoyed your time with company. Weāve missed you!
Everyone enjoy their day!
Dayle

Good morning everyone
Penny- glad you got there ok. Praying no bad weather coming your way.
Lin- your day sounds interesting
Geri- pray your home is safe also from the storm.
Today i I need to go grocery shopping. Home delivery is still messed up. I miss home delivery but will not pay for delivery unless I seriously can't go to the store. Plus side it is good exercise.
Today's project is cleaning both bathroom toilets, sinks and counters.
Since the the closet is ready for the safe, nothing is urgent that needs to be done. If have energy will go through one file cabinet drawer in garage.

Penny, scary. Will you have to evacuate? Stay safe, forecasts are showing Tallahassee now. The forecasts can change hourly, as we know.

PeggySue, hurricanes!! they never do what they say they are going to do and can change in a minute so do stay safe and we will all be watching the news. For me here in Pa it is just the Weather channel that covers the hurricane so will have it on now and then. Keeping fingers crossed that you will be safe and dry.
I am off to get a perm, the pictures they took with me and the baby weren't bad thank goodness but sure took a lot of time for me to get hair looking better before I left home. It is straight as a string and not a good look for me at all. Not that anyone notices me in the picture as baby is the focus, thank goodness.
had a phone call from a friend in N.C. and she is so depressed. I feel bad for her, her family is near by but she has not met any one her own age to pal around with now and then and she misses that. told her to call anytime. She misses our lunches and shopping trips but told her I don't shop much anymore either . The computer is so much easier these days. She only uses her computer for games. She is lucky that both her Daughters come a lot and she goes out to eat with them quite a bit and gets to see all her grandkids and greats as well. she knows all that and is trying to be happy in her new apartment. Feel bad for her. She says she hates being old. what do you say to that??

afternoon, dayle there are alot of different long arm type machines out there.some take up a whole room and some are smaller you can do on the stitching on your domestic machine. either way they are expensive
I don't have one.
what they do is what we call sandwich the quilt. at home we lay the backing down, then the batting, then the top of the quilt . then we pin it and either hand or machine quilt it.
you do the same with the long arm. the difference is some long arms the quilter will program in the design and then move the overhead unit for the design they want. now if you really want to spend the bucks you get the machine that you can program in the design from your computer and the machine does it all.
I have friends who have long arms. they do the quilting as a business. then if they get medical issues sometimes that puts a end to the business.then they try to see the machine.
also some quilters quit the business because there are customers that will try to take advanage of them. phyl

hi again, as for me just give me the pattern and I will quilt on my own machine. not a fancy stitch quilter.
it would have to be a ver special quilt before I take it to the long arm person. yes they do beautiful work.
I can't afford to spend over 100 or over 200 dollars to have a quilt quilted each time I make one.then again I haven't made a big quilt in years. I stick to lap size, baby quilts or wall hangings.
I finally gott he playpen and other room cleaned today.hope I don't mess it up as bad as I have the last 3 times.
having back pain for several days did not help me out.
I am so far behind in alot of cleaning.
it was another rainy morning . I picked hannah up for the bus. phyl

Phyl she told me they were expensive and I went out online and looked at them. They're the price of a small car!!! She's got to be crazy, or maybe she is preparing for a side job when she retires. It makes my miniature hobby look like small change.

yeah they are pricing. even the small ones for like my domestic machine can be 8,000.it's her hobby and if she enjoys it...
just as your clay is your hobby and you love it, gives you joy, and is your threapy.
we all have different interests and that's is what makes us tick.
I could never be a good seamstress, artist of pictures, make things out of wood. I do admire people who do those things.
I Admire you for being able to work with clay.
my clay work is like rolling out worms.phyl
