Well.. another tiring day.. Mac still hasn't been released from the hospital but they did say he was better today and probably will be discharged tomorrow sometime and go straight to rehab... I think they are over medicating him.. yesterday he was thinking and acting more clearly but tonight when I talked to him he was slurring his words and nothing he said really made a lot of sense... don't like that. don't want him to have pain either but he's been ok with smaller amounts of pain medication.. so don't know why they would have given him a bigger dose. Everyone has tried their best to do everything they could for him and he just cusses everyone out.. lol He is on coumadin.. I remember when I was on it after knee replacement and it made me feel nervous and crabby..
Kathie, I'm thinking maybe it's Jims medication that is making him sleep like that.. I hope it's not strokes..
I'm trying to think of what supplies I could be running low on.. Long story short.. in my early married years and even beyond when raising my kids, mostly alone... I was so poor I never had any supplies of anything in my house.. by pay day we were scraping the bottom.. I swore to myself that if things changed for me, I would never again have bare cupboards.. and I don't.. When I use a can of something I immediately replace it.. I keep at least four cans of each thing at all times.. I have cases of food in the closet.. My cupboard with staples in it has anything you want.. I have a whole drawer of jello and pudding mixes, what ever flavor one wants.. My freezer is stuffed to the gills.. Sometimes I end up giving food to my kids because we have so much we can't eat it all. I rotate everything.. when I buy new stuff it goes to the back and the old comes forward.. I know, I'm a little weird.. I think right now the only thing that I don't have very much of is fine ground corn meal.. lol.
Today Oct 13 is National Skeptics Day
Our special food days for today are.. National Peanut Festival
National Pumpkin Festival
Yorkshire Pudding Day
National M&M Day

I did get to Costco yesterday. Bought their big pan of mac and cheese as Maija's loves it! They also had pre-cooked ribs so got that plus the Kirkland chicken breasts. Didn't get a rotisserie chicken this time. I also got one of their large fruit bowls so as to see if I can get Maija to eat more fruit and she was very happy to see that.
Today is senior recognition at the swim meet so Debbie ordered flowers from the three of us and Sam asked permission to get her some as well. This guy is incredible, as how many teenagers would ask permission to give flowers! Then last night Debbie said the nuns are sponsoring a youth pilgrimage to Italy in April and are only taking 45 students and also need chaperones so Debbie filled out the forms and Maija will turn them in Monday. I hope they get accepted. But it was funny as Maija said to Sam maybe I shouldn't do this as I'll be gone on our one year anniversary. He told her first of course you're going and second we can celebrate when you get back. They'll be gone 10 days and will be in Italy for her 18th birthday and also it will be one year since the awful prom night.
Going to my meeting this morning so will give it a chance as I know so much of my discouragement is all the stress of being so concerned about Debbie and Maija. We're looking at a house Sunday that she loves but is on the same street as their current house. But her lawyer said don't make an offer no matter how much you love it until I get in touch with you Monday as I will have talked to Jeff's lawyer and will be able to tell you if Jeff is willing to sign the form allowing you to buy a house. I'm thinking he will refuse as he's still angry that she won't buy him out. None of this seems fair as this is all Debbie's money yet he can control what she buys. At least he can't say one word about the car as even though her name is on the title we bought it and gave it to her as a gift and her attorney said gifts are not marital property.

Good morning!
I have had a very busy few days, and today will be busy, too. DH's brother flew in from N.C. Thursday evening, but his bag didn't make it. He stayed with us that night, and we picked his bag up Friday morning early and drove him down to meet their older sister, who had driven north to pick him up. After a short visit with her, DH and I drove home yesterday afternoon. Then yesterday evening was DGS2's birthday dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. We are both beat ! Today, we'll drive to OKC (2 and a half hours) to meet everyone at a cafe for our annual family reunion. Then we'll drive DBIL home with us, where he will stay till we take him to the airport Monday at noon. As I said, BUSY!
The weather has turned really cool. Our high will be in the low 60s for the next few days, with lows in the 40s. Time to get the furnace okayed for the year!
Now, to try to catch up: A museum? Hmmm I think I'd like to make a history of schools museum, with model schoolrooms from different periods of history. I would also have a room or two with shadow box displays of famous people studying -- like Abe Lincoln reading by the firelight.
What supply am I shortest on? Like Jenny, I tend to replace things as I use them -- and for the same reason! But we have run out of home made muffins! So that would be the choice -- and I'd better make some today! DH has them for breakfast daily!
Sandy, I know you are all anxious for Debbie and Maija (and Maybean) to have their own house, but the attorney is wise. And a house so close to him? Frightening!
Have a happy day! Diane

Good Morning Cat and Awesome Autumns,
This morning it was 39º and going up to 63º and partly cloudy with winds SSW 10 to 20 mph.
As far as I know there are no special plans for today, so I’ll just wait and see what comes up.
Yesterday Sarah had a day off and she has two more Monday and Tuesday. I don’t know what the reason is for the holidays.
Last night we had our Friday family movie night and the choice of movie was Sleeping Beauty. Before the movie we all enjoyed fixing our own loaded baked potatoes for supper.

Off to the rescheduled library sale. No rain for a couple of days so guess the parking field in dry enough now. Will be back later to let you know how I make out. A large bag (they give you) fill it up for $5 today. good deal.
Just enjoy checking out the houses that are available---but in same neighborhood, oops a no no for sure!!! , Sandy. My DD made a big decision like that and was kind of sorry she did later on. It ended up being a big problem later when she remarried (which she swore she would never do!) But also have to say the house she bought finally sold just a couple weeks ago and she is so happy about that. ( 8 years later) So I would say GO Slow even when she gets the go ahead. Maija will not be home all the time for much longer. It will just be Debbie in the house. College, and this relationship with Sam sounds serious. I am not trying to put a damper on the house hunting but just some tips on what happened with my DD who had 2 high school kids and thought she was doing the right thing. 3 years later they were off at college etc.
LOL,the supplies in my house are very low, all of them. I hate going to grocery store and put it off!! did get big package of toilet paper and paper towels yesterday at Rite Aid. Out of all the staples, bread, milk etc etc. Don't keep lot of canned goods as I don't use many, but do have stuff in freezer and got my Schwan order last night. I will get groceries soon. Growing up we did milk butter ice cream from the dairy, my Grandma baked bread, big garden and my Mom canned all kinds of stuff even deer meat. I keep jello but don't like pudding. always have several kinds of pasta. Right now I have macaroni, several different kinds but need spaghetti. On the list

Back from library sale and got my big bag of books for $5. We got stuck in the parking field. Looked like a fairly decent parking spot but just sunk in mud when we tried to back out. My friend drives an antique Jaguar and it is heavy but useless in mud. Several other people stuck so we got pushed out and looks like that is going to happen all day long. My friend was heading directly to the car wash as there was mud all over her car and she keeps it really clean. Felt bad for her. My car probably would have been okay but who knows it is a muddy mess every where. Won't complain as we don't get hurricanes and all that goes with them!! Thank goodness. Flooding absolutely scares me to death. WE used to get a lot of flooding from rivers and creeks but with all the dams in our area we don't get that kind of flooding anymore here, just a street now and then or a small creek that overflows it's banks.
59° today but no wind so sweat shirt is good. Jeans and socks and tennis shoes.

I get my supply of water from Amazon but forget to order. Instacart (personal shopper) comes in handy!
Health to all. Lots of sun here.
Pretty cake, Connie!

Happy anniversary to Phyl and Don!
I'm running out of paper towels. I keep them in the bathrooms, kitchen and garage. No hand towels which is deliberate. I wash my hands all the time ... not because I'm OCD. hb has an incurable infection which isn't supposed to be transmissible from person to person, but he's careless about towels, Kleenex, hand washing, so I'm very careful.
I try to keep several weeks of food on hand and as others have mentioned rotate so I use the oldest first. I keep a variety of carbs on hand, meat, chicken, fish in the freezer. Some canned fruits and veggies. I try to get fresh milk, eggs, bread, fruits, and veggies weekly.
It's been snowing, and we're up to six inches. The high today is 30, and the low will be 20. Then it's going to be warmer and sunny for a week.

I am short on food in the freezer and dog food. I plan to go to the pet shop this weekend since Waylon is pretty short on food. I have plenty of paper products and I am stocking up on canned goods. I also need to get some litter for the ferrets' litter boxes. Their food is on autoship from Chewy.com. I finally turned on the furnace this morning - the condo was down to 64. I'm having the furnace's yearly check and cleaning done on October 23rd. I need to get my laundry out of the dryer and put away. I'm going to church tonight.
