This is my first time on the computer since Tuesday. We are safe. We haven't been back to the house, there's no power there, and the road was totally blocked until yesterday evening. We brought my neighbor and her dd up to the cabin last night - they followed us. Had our first regular meal - thanks to my neighbor - and our first showers since Tuesday. Also got to change clothes! Small things mean a lot. DH and I have also slept in the car for three nights, so being in our own bed was awesome!
We do know our house is still standing and no trees fell on it, which is absolutely incredible as there are six huge pine trees between the house and the water. Two of the big windows in the back blew into the FL room, but we don't know if the water got into the main house yet. Neighbors will check today.
I can't tell you how blessed we are to have had the "farm" to go to, and this cabin to come up to. All our neighbors who stayed and lived through it have significant damage to their homes and can't do anything about it and nowhere to go. One neighbor has a cell phone that works and we've been communicating with her. They'll also keep an eye on our house. We probably won't go back until the power is on - if we hold out that long! Have passed the word to the other neighbors they can go stay at our house if it's more livable inside. Should know today.
I have THE most awesome friends. One knocked on our door this morning and brought breakfast - biscuits, bacon, eggs, gravy and a fruit bowl. When she hugged me at the door I finally broke down for the first time and cried and cried. Did me good, I think.
So much to tell - but need to do other things. Thanks for all the prayers and please let them continue for us and all those folks who are so totally overwhelmed. I am having enough trouble and I have a home to be in. What they are going through is unimaginable.
Cheers all...

Good morning Penny & ATF,
Rain hear this morning. Woke up to a temperature of 47; the high will be 58.
Penny so relieved to hear from you. The house can be fixed in time once the power is restored. I reflect back to our fire when things like this happen. You can rebuild/replace broken things but you can never get back a life that was lost as a result. I pray for you all as people prayed for me & my family.
Went to WW this morning, lost 1.4# this week and earned lots of points. I don't totally understand the points earned but I can turn them in for items. I have to study this part of the program. After weeks of substitute leaders we now have a permanent coach/leader. I'll give her a few weeks before I decide how good she is. This was her first week as a coach.
No plans for today other than 5pm mass.
Have a great day everyone!

Morning All!
Penny, I can’t tell you how happy that you are OK and back in GA. BTW I was crying too, but it was last night when I went out on FB and looked at your profile pictures and saw your beautiful home (with all those trees behind the house and the large picture window in the front). I will continue to pray that the house damage is manageable and that you and your neighbors will be put to right real soon.
Happy anniversary Phyl. Hope you plan to do something special. Every year should be celebrated, but when you get up past 50 there should be special celebrations.
Emily congratulations on your loss this week.
Nothing much going on here today. Will work in the back room for a bit.
Keep us posted Penny. I will keep the prayers coming.

Penny, so happy to hear that you, DH and Charlie are safe. Things can be replaced, people cannot.
Phyl, Happy Anniversary to you and Don. You guys have had a tough year. You deserve a celebration.
Peggy Sue, Happy Birthday, enjoy the day.
We are finally getting some sunshine. Still chilly but no rain today.
Emily, congrats on being a big loser this week.
Think we're going to visit a friend tty oday if she's feeling up to company. Had surgery last month and a few weeks in rehab. Don't want to tire her too much.
Have a good day bettyj

So glad to hear the house is still standing, Penny, and it sounds like the neighbors are keeping eye on it. Hope you can get in there pretty soon to see for yourself. I also cried when I read the news, from relief. I know it is takes time for water to recede and probably to get the power etc back on but know you just want to get there and SEE!!!
It is another dreary day here today, went to the library sale and cars getting stuck in the field all over the place. We got stuck and a couple people pushed us out and they had 2 more to do and also one that needed battery jumped. My girlfriend drives an antique Jaguar and it was not moving at all, her tires and fenders were all muddy so she was going to the car wash right from dropping me off. Did get our bags of books for $5. I had mostly hard cover and some of the big paperbacks and she got all paper backs.
Will be dog sitting in the evenings, that way I don't have to get up at 6 to go let the dog out. I won't get much sleep as the dog whines all night but he does sleep all day. Sure hope he doesn't die on me. I really don't want to do this!! But DD and DSIL are helping with some French drains at DGDs house. So volunteering going on in our family this weekend. Getting my car detailed tomorrow. Not supposed to rain. and not as cloudy but still in the 50's.

Good morning everyone,
Penny- very good to hear from you. Going back to the cabin was a good idea.
Emily- great weight loss. Congrats
Phyl- happy anniversary. Always fun to celebrate
Peggy Sue- happy birthday. Enjoy your special day.
We have rain. Lots of it. Also thunder and lightening. Absolutely loving it but such bad timing. Today is the city's annual festival. Hubby is there volunteering. The parade is scheduled to start ten minutes ago. Wonder if it is happening. After parade is the festival with food booths, craft selling booths, local entertainment, kids bounce house, pony rides and more. I was going to go with DD but not if its raining. Maybe it will stop later today if it is still going on. I can see them closing it up. It's raining kinda hard.
I will spend a cozy day at home. Love watching and hearing the rain.

I'm glad to hear from you, Penny. I'm glad that you are safe in Georgia. Such a traumatic experience. It's good to know that friends and neighbors are keeping an eye on things for you.
We've had six inches of snow this morning. Snow is not here to stay, but it's here today. Sunshine for the next week.
