Welcome to our 2016 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 24 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have over 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2017 feeling great!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

These are the times when I wish we had more bedrooms. Looking forward to the beach this morning. Today is the Santa Run, where most of the participants where either Santa or Mrs. Claus outfits. I'm not participating, but it's fun to watch. Got into some cheesecake yesterday (

GG- Hope you had lots of Grandma fun!
Murphy- Your Christmas Eve plans sounds nice. If you do prime rib, look into making Yorkshire pudding- it's pretty easy and sounds fancy!
Thanks for letting us know about Sue. Hope you are able to see her, even if it's for a quick coffee.
Jan- Hope you had a nice day off and enjoyed lunch with your friend. The grilled cheese sounds amazing, but whoa that is a lot of calories!
Liz- Glad you are feeling better. I hope DS mans up and apologizes.
Cindy- Hugs!

Good morning all! It is a rainy morning here in TN. Wish I could have slept in! I don't know why I wake up at 3:30 EVERY Saturday morning! Oh well - I'm just going to enjoy the quiet and my cup of coffee.
Amy - I think I've decided to just go with a ham for Christmas Eve. I've never cooked prime rib before and I would hate to spend that money and be afraid I would mess it up! I can just do a ham in the crock pot. I texted with my cousin last night and he offered to take us all out for Christmas but I imagine places will be packed on Christmas Eve so I'd rather just cook something. I told him I wasn't drinking now and he offered to just forgo wine but I told him to bring a bottle for everyone else. I think I will be so busy that it won't bother me. Have fun at the Santa Run
I didn't hear back from Sue yesterday so I will text her after while. I'm hoping that she got some rest yesterday because I know she stayed at the hospital the night before.
GG - hope you had a good Grandma day and got lots of activity in!
Jan - grilled cheese is a favorite of mine but that is a lot of calories!
Liz - I am thinking I definitely need to come box DS's ears! Take care of yourself ok?
We had a Christmas open house for the HOA at one of the board members home's yesterday. I didn't stay long because I wanted to go to my meeting but they had the hugest Christmas village display I've ever seen! It took up half the room and had a train running in it! I wished I had taken pictures of it! Lots of wine and goodies available but I didn't get into it. I went to the meeting last night and it was really great!
Today I'm going to clean the house. I have a couple of returns to get ready and then will make out my grocery list for Christmas. I don't know that I'll try to get out of the house to go to the store. May just wait till tomorrow after church. Right now I'm just going to enjoy the tree lights and my coffee! Everyone have a great morning! Murphy

Hi everyone! When I got home, DS was in his apartment, after a while he came up,and as I expected did not apologize and just started talking to me as if nothing happened. He had already packed up the train, and told me that he would move the boxes over the weekend, then he went back downstairs. By this time I had already moved my furniture back in place. I am not going to let him get to me, when I was younger I put up with a lot of carp from DH, and I am not about to start taking it from DS again. Sounds good, huh, I hope I can follow through lol. Anyway, today I am going to clean, set up my nativity, then tomorrow go to HD and get a wreath form my fireplace and a couple of poinsettias to make the room look festive.
Amy~The Santa Run sounds like a fun event to watch, take pictures. I bet you can't wait for the boys to get home!
Murphy~The village with train sounds similar to what we had last year. That was really thoughtful of your cousin offering to not bring wine. I think you are better off not going out for dinner, the restaurants are always so crowded plus the menu is sometimes limited and already pre-cooked. Good choice staying home, you can relax after dinner and just enjoy the company.
Jan~I love tomato soup and grilled cheese, yum!
GG~Hope you had a great grandma day!
Will check back later....

Hi friends, Heading off to work in a few moments, just wanted to say hi. I'm so mad at myself for messing up my good work all week, didn't get my 10# and went up .4. Just dumb stuff, hmm that cookie looks good, I'll bring a pastry home for DH, and maybe one for me, those little things that add up. Back on track today, tracked, have my lunch packed and if there is too much junk in the staff room I will try to get outside for a short walk instead!! I have my plan and I know I will get the WI I want next Saturday. Hugs and happy Saturday to all. Amy The Santa run sounds fun! Barb Glad you got to see Sue, so sweet of you. Be back later!!

Hello friends! I don't know where the time goes either. Just a fly by, hoping to pick up furniture with dh now. Eating is bad, I've been making cookies, which aren't that good!

Hi Everyone! It is 26 degrees outside with a wind chill. I managed to get a cold, sore throat, etc, etc and the usual exhaustion that comes.
I feel so badly for Sue and what is going on with her Dad. So very difficult and just keep praying. Thank you Barb for keeping us updated. Wish we would hear from Robin.
Carole, glad you found furniture. Understand the cookie eating. I made some cookies a couple of days ago for a DS social gathering and kept a dozen for myself....not smart and I guess I should be glad that I have a sore throat. How is your knee? and how is DD doing? Was third time the charm?
Amy, the Santa run sounds like it would be more fun to watch! I love cheesecake and it's a hard temptation to resist. How do your sons make the decision who gets the room? How is your Mom doing?
Jan, I love grilled cheese too but 1000 calories! You will have the 10# loss! It may have already happened and you just don't know it.
Barb, sounds like a good plan for the Christmas meal. Less stress is always good. Glad the meeting was good and that you could resist the goodies. Again, thank you for keeping us updated and so happy you were able to see Sue.
Liz, bah humbug for DS. Will DD and her BF join in for Christmas? Did you get the decorations to make the room festive?
GG, did you get your WII time in with DGS? How is the snow in your area?
I made mocha coffee wth peppermint mocha coffeemate, whip cream and crushed peppermint on top. Not sure it was the best choice but I sometimes find I need caffeine when I have a cold and it was tasty.
I have a bush outside my living room window with thorns and with the wind it keeps hitting the window and making scraping sounds. Too cold to do anything about it for now.
It is down to 20 degrees so going to bundled up in blankets and watch tv and take some more meds. At least I'm not eating! Hugs to all, Cindy
