WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C90D20, 17 points, 4 rollovers, 8 water, 1199 calories, 12,387 steps
Line dancing and lengthy walk around mall with friend.
Big accomplishment today – I did my whole closet for the new season. It looks beautiful. Too bad it never stays that way regardless of my good intentions.
Jan – your ratio of core to APs keeps improving. WTG!! I’d be curious to know the sort of things you learned in the wellness coaching class. Anything of interest you’re care to share? Later – Oh no, so sorry about your accident. Are you covered for collision except for the deductible? And yes, they are quick to either drop your insurance or raise your rates astronomically. What a bummer.
Kathy – I think it’s been something like 18 consecutive 10,000 step days. With it came 8 water, under 23 points, under 1200 calories. I did have an additional isolated frozen dipped cheesecake pop one day (450 calories and 23 points) and only 5 water one day. I’ve learned that if I want to lose weight, this is the only way. I’m not sure how long I’ll remain this disciplined. But for the time being it’s working and not the least bit difficult. Kudos to you for two consecutive LP days. Wishing you a third. I had to google CSA – for others it’s Community Supported Agriculture.

Hi from Sedona! Tuesday the weather was very cold and chance of rain, they even had snow about 20 minutes away so we decided to take a drive an explore the area. We stopped at an Arts and craft village and downtown Sedona. Wednesday, we hiked two beautiful, challenging trails. Total steps was over 22,000. Dinner was leftover night. Tomorrow is my birthday and the last day we can go hiking. Planning on an enjoyable hike and a birthday dinner! Friday we check out of the resort and head to Phoenix. Staying at the Marriott then heading home on Saturday. Boy, vacation weeks go so fast... The two meals a day are working out well. It will be interesting to see how the scale reacts.
Jan, so sorry to hear about the accident. Nancy, enjoy your closest while it’s so organized.... Thinking of all of you! Lori

C39. D4. OP. Tracking. No exercise yesterday (my excuse was I was going to get caught up with work so I could be completely free today. But working breeds more work! So here I sit at my computer on a vacation day.) However, we are closing up the bible camp today and that will be about 5 hours of physical labor - so I will get in my activity today.
Jan - DANG on the accident. Glad that you are ok, but it is such a hassle and the insurance situation doesn't help.
Nancy - way to go on 18 days of 10,000 steps! That is a great accomplishment. I now have three LP days under my belt. From the CSA I made - roasted delicata squash (If you can find Delicata Squash in the grocery store, I highly recommend it. 0 points and delicious! I brushed it with butternut squash seed oil (1 pt), sprinkled sea salt and roasted in the oven. you eat the outside skin and all). Aruguala salad with fresh radishes. Mashed potatoes. And a Roasted chicken (I ate the breast meat) from our farm. These kinds of meals satisfy me 100%.
Lori - your vacation sounds so wonderful. It's a great idea to make time in life for the fun stuff. My DH is super stressed out about winterizing the camp (it's a big place - sleeps nearly 100) with a dozen buildings, five with water in them so we have to drain the water, etc... On top of doing the work today and likely tomorrow, he's already stressing about who will do it when he is too old and if our sons don't move back to this farming community :-0 We life in an isolated rural place that has lost 50% of its population. Hard to get enough people to keep things running.... On top of that, we are trying to get 40 head of cattle to the market and it is a scary and hard job to sort them and then get them loaded on a semi. My point! ;-) When I suggested that we have a bonfire and/or do a little fishing, he bit his lip and tried not to yell at me. It sad that we will spend a RARE 70 degree, sunny October day at the lake (camp) and don't even feel like you can spend 30 minutes fishing or roasting a hotdog over a bonfire. :-(
If Beth were here, she'd be telling us of the fun in her life (I hope). I need to find more fun in the cool, everyday parts of my life....
Hope everyone has a great day.
Missing EDESIA, Jane, Beth, Louise, Meg, Cindy...

DOR today – first in a long while. Too much going on to get to the gym or the mall or possibly I'm just not willing to find a way. 10,000 steps will be more of a challenge as the weather changes.
Lori – Happy, happy birthday!! What a great place to celebrate. Enjoy!
Jan and Louise – Hope you’re having a good day.
Kathy – You’re doing great! It’s hard sometimes to carve out time for fun, especially with your crazily busy life, but I agree we have to find a way. It’s often said that on their death bed, no one says I wish I had spent more time at the office <g>.

Happy birthday, Lori! I am going to try to be on every day. I am not sure why the internet is spotty in a large city like Fukuoka, in a modern country like Japan, but it is. My eating was okay to excellent until yesterday, when it was poor. I would call it binge behavior, using the definition above. Today, I will do the best that I am able to. If I do not, my eating will have a negative impact upon the quality of the rest of my vacation.
Japan is fabulous, as usual!
