WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C91D2, 23 points, no rollovers, 8 water, 1195 calories, 11,059 steps
Walking in two supermarkets, long solo walk in the afternoon, up and down the aisles in Walgreens, some steps at home, just enough to reach 11,000.

Good morning. I veered a little off course yesterday. A couple of ladies brought me treats as condolences for Leila, and I enjoyed them. All in all an ok eating day. Today we’re meeting some of Dave’s extended family who are here from Michigan for lunch. I will isolate that and follow Core the remainder of the day.
Nancy, you’re still tracking calories and points. Are you planning to do that for another week? There were 11 teams at the start of this tournament. We were seeded #2. We play #6 on Tuesday, as they beat #3 yesterday. I’m not sure how many teams total began in our local division. Alex played an awesome game yesterday.
Lori, welcome home. Your pictures are beautiful!

Good Morning, back from vacation!
Long travel day yesterday, after a Wonderful vacation! Now back to reality....I enjoyed my two restaurant meals, each day, ordered what I wanted (not necessarily the best choices) but I was mindful of portion control. The meals that were not so healthy (like bacon cheeseburger, lots of Mexican meals, pizza) I was very aware of portion control and only ate till satisfied and we were able to have a leftover night. No sweet treats at all - not even on my birthday - I didn’t even crave them. I think it’s because the meals were so satisfying and I had the yogurt in the room for my evening snack. When we got home late last night, we stopped at a diner. The dessert case was smack in your face when you walked in and I really thought about having a treat. The diner had a very extended menu - I chose a cup of soup (lobster bisque), 1/2 sand (grilled Swiss w/bacon) and it came with fries. I know not the best but I only ate half of everything and I did not want dessert when finished. When I got home, I took out of the freezer a chocolate blender muffin. After unpacking, I made myself a birthday cupcake with the choc. Muffin, yogurt frosting and a few mini choc chips - totally satisfied!
I’m going to keep my post from this week so I can refer to them when I travel. I’m really happy with the way I handled my meals regardless of what the scale says on Tuesday.
Nancy, Wonderful weigh in - it proves that you can have an occasional treat as long as we keep the binge monster away and continue on with healthy eating! Jane, enjoy your outing today! So glad Alex had a great game! Good Luck to Alex and the team!! Kathy, DH worked 6 days a week 10-12 hour days with 1 1/2 hr commute each way for most of his 32 years of service. He was fortunate to work for a large company and was able to retire at age 55. During his working years, he always made it to all the kids events and 1 week family vacation but socializing with family and friends I was always solo. When he was home, he had the house and yard work to do plus did not want to travel anywhere. I have to say I’m enjoying his retirement as much as he is. We now do so much more together and he isn’t as moody (no more work aggravation and commute). Me working full-time and him home is working very well for us. You and your DH have so much on your plates (I can’t even imagine the physical and emotional stress you both have) but I hope you can both find a little time for each other, Jane, thinking of you on your trip!! Hope everyone has an enjoyable Sunday!

Jan, So sorry to see about Leila. My Pegan was non-responsive on the day she ended up dying. I knew it was time to take her. I was putting her in the car and.she had a seizure and died in my arms. Sorry about the accident.
Great to see about Alex's team victory. May they go all the way.
Hopefully back later.

C39. D7. OP. Tracking. 4 hours of activity yesterday - sorted over 100 head of cattle. No stitches, bruises, broken bones, or trips to the ER (like last time)!
Nancy - glad you got your steps in yesterday. Is the home health aid helping you get the time to exercise?
Lori - welcome back and I recall how much your DH worked, back in the day. Glad that you are both enjoying his retirement... Farming is so different- it's the same 14 hours a day, but without the pay or retirement plan (lol). I keep telling DH we could rethink our farming in a way that is not so 365 / 24/ 7 but he just shakes his head. That's why I'm putting him on 20 month notice to downsize the farm labor!!
Jan - glad you had fun at the tournament and that your friends are supportive of what's going on with you sweet puppers.
Louise - nice to see you check in!
EDESIA - hope that you have a peaceful Sunday ahead of you.
I'm on the road, probably starting tonight (otherwise I have to be driving by 5:30 tomorrow morning), and won't be back until late on Friday. Five nights in five different hotels... and at least 15 hours of drive time... I'm peeling carrots, slicing green peppers, and have two frozen meals (black bean and veggy stew) to use as ice packs. I'll find some healthy, low point snacks and treats like popcorn with black truffle salt (my fav!!).
I'm also bringing my workout clothes and plan on running on hotel treadmills. Jan - did I tell you I fell of the treadmill about 2 weeks ago? I landed on the floor and hit my spine on the treadmill next to me. I was really shook up. But I dusted myself off and got back on and ran 2 miles!
I'm going to do my best to check in each day.
Kathy

Lori, you’ve really gotten your vacation eating perfected! I remember binging so many times on vacation. Thanks to this group, that no longer happens.
Louise, you know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. I miss her terribly, and the house is not the same without her, even with the newer dog. How is Marisol’s training coming along?
Kathy, I’m so sorry about your treadmill fall. That’s one of the reasons I seldom use a treadmill. I’m very fortunate to have an indoor track to use when the weather is bad. Safe travels to you this week. I love that you’ve packed meals to enjoy.
