June I hope the pizza was worth it. I guestimated my cheese/crackers and today IS another day! I agree, too many people LOVE to be out and about in this weather regardless of having anything to do. I never was a thrill seeker so I'll be happy to be home. LOL on the laundry. I swear people break in and drop laundry off!
Susi sorry to hear about your cold. Drink that low sodium veggie broth. Las Vegas sounds great. By the way, I remember an old remedy for a cold....put a few halls cough drops in a cup of hot tea and sip it. As a kid, my grandma used to do that when one of us got a cold. Funny how things pop into your mind.....
Yeah to the vacay, LaDonna. I just know you'll enjoy each and every day. Roasted veggies and smoked turkey are win-win. Enjoy!
Time for my coffee. The TB didn't 'show' my cheese/crackers so for that I'm most grateful. It was a gift and I'll take it and run with it!

Susi- meh... winter colds right when the festivies are underway-- that stinks. Hope that you find something nutritional that appeals to you. Hard to want to eat when you cannot taste anything. I usually default to scrambled eggs, but two winters ago when I had a cold it was popcorn that appealed to me. Feel better soon! Yes, Bjs words carried "smiles" is across the miles.
LaDonna- ha ha ha... my DH's hunting spot is our back propert; it cannot take him more than 5 minutes at a pokey pace to get from the back door to his tree stand. Hope that both our DH's enjoy their time in the woods, regardless of the outcome. Hope that the OTC medicine does the trick for your stuffy sinuses. Have fun at your party. I love those Chinese gift giving too. Lots of fun.
Naomi- am with you. Was planning on doing party food prep today, so I am more than happy to stay home until this evening. I did think about going to another WW meeting, but I only consider d it for about 2 seconds! Have a good time tonight.

Good Morning I've been awake since 5 or earlier but stayed in bed till 6:15 not to disturb DH who is still sleeping. He installed my new microwave yesterday and it is the largest heaviest one made but fits perfectly in the cabinet where the former one was installed. Thank you to Amazon for delivering in two days. Just little things like melting butter or heating cold chicken are so much easier with the microwave. I grabbed two piles of papers and went into a spare bedroom to organize them. One was all of the travel papers and the other was the past week's mail. I feel so much better now because after I woke up all I could think of was what I needed to do. We are grocery shopping today. Then I will bake another batch of cookies and continue with gift organization. DH thinks Santa does it all. The cats are at the back door and do not know I am awake. Once I let them up, DH will be awakened. They sleep under towels on patio furniture under the covered insulated patio roof so they are protected from the cold. They do not want to be inside through the night. I think it was in the lower 30s last night. Susi, I hope you feel better. June, I hope your husband gets that deer. DH's cousins are big hunters in ND and often take others from outside the state on hunting trips.
Will be back later. Cats are in and DH is awake.

Thanks, Naomi! Going to be aware with food choices at my party tonight also. Hope you and your family are safe in the ice storm.
Audrey, saw a cute post of FB "Love it on Christmas Day when a label on a present says from Mom and Dad and you just know that Dad has absolutely no idea what's inside" Enjoy your baking.
Susi, If I ever make it up your way I am bring you some deer meat!

"I shall find lots to be thankful for, nothing to complain about, and share smiles all over the place!" Bee, this quote says it all. Ann, it all always gets done no matter how many days it takes and we must count our blessings that we can still do things. Not sure if I mentioned it here but I received a card from a friend of over 45 years and she was hit by a car while crossing the street in October. She suffered a concussion and some bad bruises but is doing ok and healing. She was totally dependent on family and friends for two months as she has no children or family near her. Her only brother lives in the opposite side of the state. So something like dusting the furniture cannot be taken by granted. Thinking more about the man at the doctor's office. I imagine he has beginning stages of dementia and cannot be left alone. We often hear stories of elderly people who are missing, wandering from their home or care facility. DH grew up in Corrigan. TX and their weather was so different from what it is here in CA. They had storms from all directions so his dad gave us a weather radio as a gift. Well, ours can be the same 30 days in a row.
Stay warm and well enjoying this last weekend before Christmas.

It's still snowing and blowing in 'Winter Wonderland'. I've decided to stay put. Nothing I need badly enough to traipse outdoors for.
I'm about ready to pop in some 70's music and dance away to get in my activity. Then I'll read a bit. A nice and quiet day is planned.
Wishing all a wonderful day.
Ciao

Audrey- what, you don't have magical elves at your house? Sooo funny. Hope that your day continues to go smoothly and productively. Absolutely-- we cannot take for granted for whatever our quality of life is.
LADonna-love that gift tag!
Ann- I turned on the music channel and spent the morning preparing party food in the kitchen. Boiled three heads of cabbage for stuffed cabbage rolls & made 5 lbs of stuffed mushrooms caps. Am headed out to the store for hamburger. I only had 90/10 burgers in the freezer, and it's to lean for stuffed cabbage rolls.

Good afternoon, all!
The morning snow gave way to rain (not sleet/freezing rain, just RAIN) so how much will melt depends upon how high the temps go and whether they stay above freezing all night long. We are not anticipating doing any shoveling.
I've been to my WW meeting (down 1.6#) and to KressSibs Monthly Breakfast - a much-reduced group of Toots, me, and DBigSis (Toots picked her up). Good thing the weather was crummy so the diner was empty - we sat for-EV-er talking about everything and nothing (this is the DSis who lost her DH last month). And yes, we did tip generously.
Now that we are home, we have NOWHERE ELSE that we need to go. So there'll be some Cinderella chores, some meal planning for the coming week, and a whole lot of rest. Sounds like a good plan.
<oops>
WHAT: We didn't know until this morning whether we'd get out; if it was icy, then absolutely NOT. But we left in snow and the changeover was much better than we'd expected.
HOW: I had made meal plans both for make-at-home breakfast and lunch and for diner food (half of bkfst comes home for lunch). Dinner will be pork tenderloin; I bought a "club pack" - 2 cuts that I subdivide one more time - yesterday and hadn't repackaged it yet.

When we got home from the store and I put away bags of groceries I felt dizzy. I had my walking clothes on in the store and was overheated but not smart enough to remove my coat. I sat with a glass of ice water and had chicken noodle soup and tea for lunch. Then I felt cold and put on a fleece. The fleece is off and I have more ice water which is a good thing. No place else to go and now that I have put away laundry and made the bed, I am sitting with the last of the clutter piles. I will not bake until I feel better. It is so good to be at home.

((Audrey)) hope you are feeling better now. I bet it feels good to be back home.
MJ glad that you just had the rain rather than the dreaded wintry mix. That just plain stinks!
June enjoy listening and cooking.
I did get in all my steps while dancing and walking around while reading my kindle. If anyone was a 'peeping tom' they would have ordered me a straight jacket!!!!
Sleep well, all!
