Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend still least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Baby, it's cold outside!!! It's misting and as the temperature drops the roadways are starting to freeze again. I got out to Aldi's and Dierberg's (Grocery Stores) this morning and they were terribly busy. Couldn't go up one aisle and down another because the register end of the aisles were all blocked with shoppers waiting to get checked out. I think I got everything on my list except for two items and they'll keep until later next week when I buy whatever we need for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I've invited 3 people to join us for Christmas morning breakfast/brunch but don't know yet if they are coming. I have time...it will just be something simple...coffee, juice, fruit salad, sausage breakfast casserole, bacon, sausage links, and perhaps Blueberry/lemon & Cranberry/orange biscuits/scones. This is kind of what I'd fix for just John and I only in smaller amounts. What do you think...do I need a potato dish or something else? They'd be coming early...maybe around 9:30 so we'd eat around 10 so everyone could do all their family lunches/dinners. The weather is nasty here. It's misting and temps are dropping rapidly - roadways are getting slick again all over the area. I skipped out of attending a G2G with former co-workers. Last night it did much the same just before rush hour and well into the evening. It was taking people 4-6 hrs to get home on what is a normal 30-40 minute commute. Around midnight the temps increased over freezing and that allowed a bunch of us to get out this morning. Joyce - I hope you don't have to work today or tomorrow at the grocery...it is a madhouse. I bought stuff (mostly) to bake cookies and breads for the holiday...some I need to ship off come Monday & Tuesday but I have the kitchen table filled with gifts that need wrapping. Do I move the bags and free up the table so the cookies will have a place a cool and be packaged or do I wrap all the stuff in the bags and wrap them later? Leaning towards moving the bags since I need just a few of the items to be shipped off with the cookies...the rest of the gifts won't be needed until Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Sorry for rambling...my mind is all over the place.

Cathy - I worked at the grocery store last night, and will be working again tonight. You are right, it was a madhouse. My back was aching after a couple of hours. Used heating pad when I got home and will probably need it again tonight. Only good thing is that I'm late night too, 9-2:30 and it usually eases up after midnight.
Late day at the dealership, but the deal didn't get finished. Got an extra 1/2 hour in though.
Making pork chops tomorrow, for the next few days. Haven't had them in a while.
It warmed up today, everything is a slushy mess and will freeze up overnight. Plow guy came thru yesterday and today and did the whole drive. So now my whole drive is getting plowed. Don't understand why that didn't happen from the start. Oh well ...
Prayers for all in need. Be back tomorrow.

Good evening all. We got about 8" of snow in the last 24 hrs, and now the temperature is dropping dangerously. Wind chills in SE MN tomorrow will be about -50!!!! The high tomorrow will be -8 in our area. With wind chill of -25!!
We decided to try getting to older DD's today. But after about 15 miles, we turned around and headed home. The interstate was like a skating rink. Called DD and said we just couldn't do it. We're too old to risk it. Will miss DD's graduation ceremony tomorrow morning, but can't be helped.
I did pull out the notebook I've used for our past two Hawaii cruises and tossed probably 100 pieces of paper. DH took 50 or so one sided ones to write on when he's on his ham radio. All else went in the recycling. So I got something constructive done while watching the Wild hockey game. Won, the 7th in a row!
Dinner almost ready. More later.

Cathy, good to hear from you. Your Christmas brunch sound perfect. I do something similar for DH, DS#2 and I for Christmas morning. DS#2 is gluten free and I found a breakfast casserole that has hash browns, sausage, eggs and onions and peppers in it. It sounds good and will be something DS can eat. Glad you were able to get out when it warmed up a little.
Joyce, hope tonight isn’t too rough on you at the grocery store. People are so funny when a storm is predicted, I understand when there are kids in the house, but some people buy enough food to last several weeks. Glad the snowplowing is working out for you.
Ruth, sounds like a good idea to stay home, even though you are missing a big occasion for your DD. It is really cold by you, your area made the national news tonight.
We had about 6” of snow overnight, it was supposed to end in freezing rain, but that didn’t happen. Now the temp is supposed to start warming up and by morning it will be in the low 40s. That will mean a lot of melting, and then more snow is predicted for Monday morning. I’m trying to use up a lot of food before we leave. I haven’t really done a big grocery shopping since Thanksgiving, just going out for f&v, milk, bread. We will have a few strange meals but really hate to waste food. DH had planned to snow blow the driveway after lunch. I heard a snow blower and looked out and the boy (now 35) who grew up next door to us was clearing our driveway. His mother is our friend who encouraged us to get our place in Florida and she is now a permanent Florida resident and her DS and DDIL live in her house. DH went out to talk to Shawn and tell him that he planned to get out but Shawn said he would finish, we have such wonderful neighbors. I made a batch of cookies to thank them but it was dark before they were cool enough to package so I will bring them over tomorrow. Hope everyone stays warm and safe.

Good morning,
Work wasn't too bad last night. This week will be bad, but I'm not working there again until Friday night.
Ruth - I'm glad you chose to stay home, even though you had to miss the event. It's very icy here, not nearly as cold as it is by you. I can't even imagine that kind of cold.
I put an ice melter on my top step, it's slick. Not meeting DB and DSIL this morning, too slippery to drive that far. I can't afford to fall wil my back problems. They agreed. It's still sleeting that icy rain. Not a good day to be out driving.
Bills are playing home game today. I think a lot of people will stay home. My friend is already there, takes an RV and stays overnight.
Keep warm, stay safe.

The Bills won, thank heavens. I was sure the Browns would have had their first win today - lol.
I kept busy during the game, cleaned out my underwear drawer, washed and folded towels and wash cloths and put them away. Not working tonight, so I will go thru my paper drawer and see what I can toss.
It cleared up nicely, ice on my steps is gone. I'm going out for dinner, not in a cooking mood. They make a great chicken quesadilla at my favorite restaurant, so I'll go there.
Amvets called, pickup scheduled for January 5th. Gives me time to go thru more stuff.
Be back tomorrow.

Hi Joyce, Ruth Dottie and Cathy. I am at work but just wanted to stop by and say hello. I have a cold and have been really worn out. Thinking of all of you. Have a great holiday if I don't make it back here. Hugs and prayers for those in need. Take care.

Good evening all. We got to watch live streaming of DD's graduation ceremony. And they were the first group to get diplomas, so we didn't have to watch 300+ grads! And saw pictures of her getting her hood. Her masters is in Education Professional Development. Gave up on the football game and went to Walmart & Target. Roads much better today. But it's still cold, but slowly warming up.
Im picking up paper all over for recycling pick up tomorrow. Will clean a few more things out of fridge tonight.
More tomorrow.
