I fix meals for DH, and he takes some medications that must be taken with food and must be taken on a strict schedule. So we eat by the clock. Breakfast at 7:30. Lunch at 12:00. Snack at 3:00. Supper at 6:00. If he misses a meal time, it throws his meds off. We get kind of panicky if we are traveling and not able to eat at the right times.

Rarely does my stomach growl. I struggle with being able to eat no matter how full I am. My hunger signals are definitely broken and my "metabolism" done died. Growing up we always ate meals at scheduled times and I am not sure I really knew at that time what it was like to wait until I was hungry to eat. Now I just try to space my meals out. I do get stomach growling occasionally depending on what I eat. For instance if for breakfast I eat an English muffin, PB2, banana and a glass of milk, I am hungry in 3 hours. If I eat oatmeal, banana and milk, I can go 5 hours before I get hungry and then sometimes I am not hungry but I need to eat because if I do not I will start getting tired. So, I guess that is my body's way of letting me know it is time to eat. I do get an empty feeling, perhaps that is hunger? But very rarely do I have a growling stomach signaling time to eat.
This is probably why I struggle to lose weight since my sense of whether I am full or hungry does not work very well. I can even eat when I am sick.
So, I try to at least have 3 hours between meals or snacks to separate my meals and none of my meals are very large meals.
