Hello I am new to the boards.
Just wondering if any of you are including a smoothie into your daily meal plans if so can share some weight watcher friendly preferably green smoothie examples.
And what about fruit how much daily is recommended. I here and read how fruit should be avoided or very limited. Love to hear feed back and thought on this. Thank you.

I used to, daily. I got out of the habit because my husband bitched about the noise in the morning. I do plan to incorporate more green smoothies starting this week.

Remember you put smoothies through the recipe builder so you get a points value for them. Vegetables and fruits and whatever else you put in them are no longer zero points.

No green smoothies for me, I drink coffee in the a.m. and then water the rest of the day, I prefer to chew my food lol
As far as fruit, anything can be overdone but I eat fruit at free will, never have had any issues with it (other than a stomach ache from an apple that was too green)
Why would fruit have to be avoided or very limited? (unless your diabetic?) '

No, I've never made a green smoothie. Unless it contained lime sherbert (or mint chocolate chip ice cream in a pinch) I would find it unpalatable. As bbbearsmom points out, the official rule is that everything which goes into a smoothie must be counted as containing points—i.e., put fruits in it and you don't get them for zero points. Fruit doesn't need to be avoided, but it should not be gorged on. You weight loss will tell you whether you're indulging in too many zero-point foods, whethery fruit or chicken/turkey breast or beans. Eat what satisfies you and eat enough to feel satisifed; if you don't lose or gain, then think about cutting back a bit.

dlee92, Welcome to the group. Although I occasionally make smoothies, I never do green smoothies. Unless you're diabetic, there's no reason to avoid fruit. Fruit has a lot of vitamins, etc but it also has more calories than veggies. How much you can eat really depends on your body. At the beginning of my weight loss journey, I could eat as much as I wanted & not have an issue. Now that I'm closer to goal, I have to limit fruit. I still pick fruit over a veggie but I make sure I'm not overdoing. Instead of a huge bowl of grapes, I have a more reasonable portion. Making your own smoothies means you can control the calories/points so that's a plus. If you find one satisfying as a meal & you're losing weight, then go for it. If your weight loss stalls, then you might need to reevaluate.

I did for a while when I tried the Wild Diet. I got used to them, but I kept it pretty basic with spinach, celery, cucumber, "power greens" blend, etc. To keep it more cost friendly, I'd buy the big clamshell greens on Monday when they're marked 1/2 off at HEB and put them in baggies and freeze them for smoothies (and soup, since you're cooking them, freezing them is fine).

No, I've never made a green smoothie. Unless it contained lime sherbert (or mint chocolate chip ice cream in a pinch) I would find it unpalatable. Pistachio ice cream would be my choice. Nope, never had a green smoothie and most likely never will. I think it goes back to many years ago when tube feedings for patients consisted of actual food that had been blenderized. Meat, veggies, etc, all liquified and kept in the unit refrigerator. UGH. No feeding pumps back then, no specialized pre-made formulas. Hand-fed with a syringe and it seemed to take forever. Plus green smoothies remind me of what I have to clean off the lawn tractor blades after the lawn is cut. A green smoothie simply has absolutely no appeal to me whatsoever. I can eat a whole bag of steamed broccoli or a big box of fresh spinach without pureeing the heck out of it---drinking it is repulsive to me, lol. My DD loves smoothies, including green ones. Anything that ventures too far from an ice cream soda is not going to happen for me.
