Just need a reminder to keep it simple today... making a (fairly) healthy beef stew in the crock pot today... not sure IF we will get to the Star Wars movie or not... weather prevails... Tracy is headed home now - bringing both girls... I so WANT this day, the week before Christmas with them here to finish up the decorating, and getting ready for the coming week...
I secretly hope we cannot get to the movie today - I'd rather stay holed up here. decorating - planning - baking... but time will tell! Supposed to warm up and turn to rain... so I am thinking we will go - meaning I need to get off my butt and get this day started - so I can be ready to roll!!
Had a rough day yesterday... very shorthanded at work... bake sale... stress... did OK with the eating... more sugar than I usually have, but not out of control... my end of day stats weren't great - because - we went out to dinner too! Oh well, ONE DAY - ONE MEAL - NOT the end of my journey!
Will catch up quick before the girls get here... then it's decorating and cookie baking ♥

Christine: YAY for the surgery being done - and you healing... keep us posted in how well you CAN care for yourself ♥ Sue: My Monday will be "my day"... even with DH home he does have an appointment so I should be home alone to organize/wrap/relax for a bit :-) Sorry to hear Sarah is struggling right now... but so GLAD that she is working through it... it has to be SO much more difficult with the blended family, and the crap Amanda dishes out... also the time of year... yes this will "pass" but good to know she's working on helping it along! May I ask... are they doing OK with the financial stuff you were helping them get under control?? I know for "me" our finances adds a LOT to the depression/anxiety, especially this time of year Let it be all about you and your DD... we Mom's totally "get it" ♥

Gabrielle: OH NO!! How sad about the teens, Thank God your DS was safe... and you too!! I have to say - driving around your area in ANY "weather" would be sketchy! The hills, the turns... yikes... hope the rains subside and today is a nice day for you... hey is tonight your party??
Any running this morning? Or home to get ready?
Hey we are "up to" 15 this morning!! Still snowing lightly... but still have it in my head to climb that hill and get a picture for you... LOL
The good news about donuts is... I do not care for them! HA!
No way that much rain isn't helping the drought!! I do hope you get significant snowfall this year to help with next year's water issues...
I still don't get the "how to" for uploading a picture - other than the profile...

Morning Carole and all to come....woke up to a dusting of snow, now a wintery mix, followed by all rain by lunch and stopping shortly after that!! Kellen's basketball got cancelled so no one needed to be out in the slop!!
Should still be OK to go to Rocky Ridge tonight with Sarah's gang!! It's a Christmas light display that is awesome...it has several buildings and of course Santa's cabin...the boys love it and it's really done well!! It gets PACKED quickly so we arrive by 4:30 and wait a 1/2 hour already in huge line for it to open at 5pm....but that's better than sitting in a mile plus line of traffic just waiting to get to the parking area, then still waiting in line to enter the park itself! It is definitely a holiday favorite around here!!
Yesterday was an OK food day, but ended the day with the last two slices of pizza from the day before....it was yummy and will be a while before I have pizza again so no guilt here!!
Heading back to yesterday to try to catch up a bit, then the baking, brittling, wrapping and prepping starts until Sarah & gang arrive to pick us up at 3:45!!

Nadine: I am trying to talk to myself...when things are getting me "down" at work... I can also put my earbbuds in and listen to my music... then again I wonder if by putting them in it makes me look like I don't WANT to be bothered to talk to others... nothing is easy in this messed up brain of mine... I overthink EVERY SINGLE THING!!!
Good luck with DD and her decisions... hope she listens to your concerns {{{{hugs}}}}
YES I heard that too... about HSM, and capping the community... and "grandfathering" us in where we are...and it is "cheaper" than WW so I guess I will remain as well! Although the "skeptic" in me wonders if she ever WILL "cap it" or is that just a marketing ploy to keep us all there! LOL
Lisa: OMGoodness... so many issues over bringing food to the party!! Hope it all works out for you. I LOVE KFC and would enjoy it - in moderation - but that's "me" :-)
DD ordered a couple thing s for me yesterday... she LOVES to shop on-line, I do NOT! So using her "red card" she can save $$ and her "E-Bates" gets her $ back so I let her go with it... car seats for both my young families... they each will need the "next step" sooner rather than later - so I think it's an ideal Christmas gift for both families!
Jenny: Hope you enjoyed the party last night - and having a driver... WOT WOOT!! LOL
Shelly: LOL Sooo, tired at 9:30 PM... I am OUT OF IT by 8!! HOLY MOLY! You went from 72 to 2 in 24 hours?!?? YIKES! Be safe in the cold!
YES! Making employees "accountable"! AWESOME! Hate to see anyone out of a job - especially THIS time of year... but you are right... it the choice THEY make not you!!

Sue: I am sort of hoping our snow doesn't change over until LATER, like after time to get to the movie! LOL Light display sounds fun... enjoy!
OK Time to make some HOT oatmeal for my girls ♥ Eden (for some reason) likes MY oatmeal better than her Mom & Dad's... so every week she asks me to cook it for her...so when Tracy called from the road, Eden piped up in the back and asked Gramma to cook oatmeal...
then to dishes... decorating... baking... hoping to hike up the hill to take a picture for Gabrielle...
Everyone stay safe in this cold/winter weather that seems to be (almost) everywhere this weekend!!!
Be back in a bit ♥hugs♥

Jo...sorry for the frustrating times at work...sounds like a lot of extra work to get done before the end of the year....PLUS, you still have new quotes coming in! Hope Danielle gets back to the office soon and the business trip was a short one so you are back to full staff on Monday!!
Our gift/lunch day is Tuesday!! I will be making the Pumpkin Trifle...20 individual trifles in clear solo cups to make it easy for serving! Also will give me an accurate serving for tracking...it's only 175 calories per serving and I'm substituting light Cool Whip and SF pudding so it will be a few less for sure!! It's so yummy...can't wait! It will be a tough day to track, but I will do my best when I get home that day!
Jo...we are getting a warm up too...yesterday never got out of the teens....Sunday could hit 50°...pure craziness!!
Oh Carole....restless sleep is my new middle name! Beginning to think it's my lot in life forever now!! Can't believe you were up making donuts but I'm sure they are best warm!! But hard to stay warm in 2° weather!!
Christine...when our schools close around here...they are closed for all! Daycare is up to the parents to work out on their own!! WOW!! Is that just your district?? Will be waiting anxiously to hear how the surgery went and what they found when they got inside to peek!!! Hope the pain is minimal and you get to enjoy a little rest at home away from the drama of work and the Prince!!

Carole...I have never looked into the HSM...is it expensive to sign up?? But, she has been down this road we are on and it sounds like she has some great information to help guide everyone through the ups and downs of the process!
Jo...has Em said anything more since you "got into it" the other day?? Sometimes the older kids get they realize that their behavior really was inappropriate and do "come around" after a bit....not always, but I do remember my girls at that age starting to realize that DH & I were NOT the enemy and the rules, boundaries, etc were in place for a reason.
Will need to check out the "real weightloss for real women" book...it is so true! Many plans look great on paper but when each individual works it the same way, each body is different!! I'm sure it will be a good read! Will have to check it out for when I'm sitting on my caboose for weeks on end after my surgery!
How can they fine you for leaving YOUR car running to warm up...I get that people can steal them but that's a chance the owner takes...fining sounds crazy!
I can't believe Harry & David's didn't replace the pears...that would have seemed more logical! Will say I have never ordered from them but have received package at work as gifts...
Carole...yay for the pants feeling looser despite the blip on the scale! Yes...something is working!! You are in a great mindset, tracking good & bad, trying to just maintain and do your best through all the uncertainties of food & treats over the holidays!! January 2nd...it's all systems go!! You've got this!!

Ah yes...I miss buying "baby things"!! Having had only daughters, it's getting tough now with all the boys...I don't know what boys like!!
Carole...sometimes we DO NEED "Karen" or some other outside objective voice to help us put things into perspective....Karen is totally outside your family, friend circle, WW thread circle...just looking in, taking all the pieces of info you share and rearranging them without bias or preconceived thoughts!! Don't feel like you are failing or not doing this right because you need to have her help sort through things from time to time!! That to me is a positive thing...
Glad you are still taking your "walk-a-bouts" at work despite the short staff and workload....you are one person and can only be expected to do the best you can!! I keep telling myself that at work lately....I'm me, I'm Rita, I'm the missing person in production office, I'm the "helper" of all other departments when extra hands are needed....but I am only ONE person and do the best I can! Thankfully at my work...people are very appreciative of what I do....I can't complain, most of my stress and negative feelings come from within me, NOT from the people around me!
Carole...how can Amanda afford to just take days when she has no vacation/sick/personal time left??? That would never fly where I work! But I do know that where Jason works, some of the guys do the same thing! Funny part is that then they complain they have no $$$ and can't make ends meet! They also mock Jason for all the OT he works...he tells them that he doesn't like to work the OT but the extra $$$ always helps get an extra bill paid, add to our savings, lets us do something fun that we would normally not be able to afford!! Amazes me how some people think!!

Gabrielle...how scary to hear of the accident and NOT knowing if DS was safe or not! It always scares me to be on the road in really heavy rain when people don't slow down and "drive for the conditions"....rain can be just as bad as snow and weaving in and out, driving too fast...it's always a recipe for disaster! Around here when we haven't had rain for a long time and then we get some, the oil and stuff on the road is extra slippery and treacherous!!
What was the app you were using to post?? Google something??? I too see you sitting under the dryer chatting to yourself and it makes me smile!!
Gabrielle...how can 180% of rain NOT help the drought?? Did it come down to fast that it's running off and not settling into the ground?? I know that happens here sometimes if we have had a real dry spell and then get a deluge of 4-5" in a couple hours....it's just runs off and the ground is still powder dry the next day!!
What a great fundraiser for your board...combining the holiday season & spirit to support others!! I haven't seen "A Christmas Story" as a play...only the movie! Is it the same story, just live?? Speaking of Christmas trees...we will decorate ours tonight when we get back from Rocky Ridge or tomorrow night...I will NOT let it go past this weekend, no matter what!! While I enjoy the glow of the lights, I miss the "memories" that are on our tree as I walk by! I also want to give Jason the ornament of his folks today when I give Sarah hers this afternoon!

Ah Nadine...college visit time!! I'm sure DD is struggling with the declining of admission from the 1st one but hopefully since you have a good relationship with her, you can guide her into being more proactive with ALL the opportunities out there!! Yes, they say puppies are like newborns! Hopefully Sidney will grow into a better routine and morning whining will end. I know that both Kita (Hannah's 13 year old dog) and Otis (Sarah's almost 3 year old dog) both sleep all night and don't make a peep until the rest of the house rises!!! But it does take a bit!
Nadine...I like the idea of keeping HSM in your budget and "fun" money! Sometimes, we have to make things like this "fit" into the budget...it's something that is helpful to your in spirit, mind and body so it's a good thing!! It's not like frivolous movies, concerts, etc...it's a positive "fun money" expense!! WTG!!
Lisa...sorry for the snafu with the upcoming family celebration! No, KFC is not healthy, but if it's a once a year treat for DD, DB, DS & DN then maybe your kids will just maybe have to bring something they want to share! I forget, how old are your children! Thankfully for me now, my girls are older and if they say they don't like what I'm bringing to share, I just tell them to bring something they want to add to the meal!!
Jenny...glad you didn't have to venture out into the slop yesterday...snow is bad enough, but ice on top makes it rough!! Glad for DF having 4-wheel drive so you don't have to miss the party!!
Shelly...I know what you mean about falling asleep in the evenings...the other day I was putting stamps on my cards and fell asleep, woke up with a stamp still on my finger and cards in my lap!! Hope you get a chance to get some fudge made...
DH actually just rolled out of bed so I can now start banging around in the kitchen. I try to keep the noise down until he gets up!!

Grabbed a 2nd cup of coffee and going to catch up on Saturday!!
Carole...I'll keep my fingers crossed you get to skip the movie...this time of year that's one more thing to take up time you could be using for something else...besides, the weather is yucky!! Enjoy the day with the girls! I never did get my cookie baking time with the boys this year...just got away from me with all the hustle, bustle and chaos!! Maybe after the holidays we can find some time to do something fun!!
Great attitude about your food yesterday....thanks to my pizza the last two nights for supper, my sodium has been high...not too much red on my tracker but still red!! I know today after Rocky Ridge we will go to Fuddrucker's for supper....LOVE that place but it is NOT at all good for me!! But, I go once a year and will thoroughly enjoy the burger and onion rings!!
Yes Carole...they are doing OK with their financial stuff...not perfect and with the added expenses that come with holiday shopping, they are frustrated. We have a plan to get together again after the 1st of the year and tweak their budget a little. While they are current with all bills, they haven't worked out how to set $$ aside for "things to come" like holiday shopping, baseball fees, car repair, etc... They still think they "can't do it"...I think they have in their brains that they have to set aside a TON of $$...what they don't realize is even only $10/week into an account that no one can touch w/o physically going into the bank to withdrawn is a start. That's what I did many years ago....put it into an account with no MAC card, no checks, no nothing...I had to park, get out of my car and go inside the bank!! I'm sure it will be a few years until they get "good at it" but I'm proud of how well they have been doing! I knew that the holidays were going to be stressful with $$ because they "didn't get it" when I said to set $$ aside....now they have seen what happens to the budget if you don't! I'm choosing to think of this year as a success and the holiday stress will be a "learning tool"!!

Carole...I know the kids will be glad for the next size car seats for the girls!! They are a needed item and an expense that can be high...that's a great gift! We gave that to Colton for Christmas the 1st year as he was out growing his car seat...the kids were very grateful!! I'm with Tracy...I love to online shop...I watch my email updates for days with free shipping, discounts on orders over "X" amount of $$$....then it comes right to the door with no need to face the crowds of cranking Christmas shoppers!!
Glad Eden loves your oatmeal Carole...I personally hate oatmeal!! What kind to you make?? Regular Quaker cooked oatmeal?? Does DS/DDIL use instant or something else?? So cute Eden piped up from the back of the car!!
Coffee is gone...time to make the 1st two batches of brittle for the day and start the Crunchy PB Balls...a new treat I'm trying this year!! Time will tell! Tomorrow is cooking backing time!! Only making two kinds this year and the Lemon Whippersnappers I'm not making until next Friday...they are best when they are fresh, they are the one cookie that does get stale quickly!! So since I have Friday the 23rd as my Christmas Eve holiday, it sounds like the perfect day to do those!
Keep it simple ladies...we've got this!!

Good Morning everyone
We finally made it out last night and went to our party and had a great time. Of coarse I was very nervous cause we left Audrey home by herself for the first time time last night but she did great. I texted her most of the night to make sure she was doing good. It's always scary the first time you leave your kids at home. Tonight we have dinner for my mom who turned 80 on the 7th of this month so we will celebrate her today. The party last night was great we received our bonus and he took care of us really well again this year, DH made around 3 grand and I got around 2 grand so we will put that in our savings account. I also won a triple slow cooker and server and DH won some type of tool set and a hand dolly. There's also a special award that about 10 of us got for being with the company over 15 years, we got a plack and I was given a solid crystal decanter and wine glasses with an engraving on it with how many years I've been with the company which I've been there for 16 years, DH has been there for 28 years and he got a nice crystal Whisky tumbler and glasses with his years of service it was a nice party and great food I stuck to salad and meat so I could stay on plan.
Sue sorry to hear about Sarah with depression I totally understand that though as I've had my rounds with depression also. I'm glad she is getting some help so she can get through this. Peanut brittle would be fun to make is it hard?
Carole have a great time with the girls today baking sounds like fun, I did a lot of that this week cause we were home due to snow, we still have snow everywhere but the roads are passable, just the side streets are still icy.
OK Hello to all need to get going my sister is thinking due to the ice and snow we may need to cancel dinner tonight.
Be back later
Jenny
