WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Good morning everyone. I hope you have a peaceful Sunday ahead of you.
We cut our weekend short to get back to the farm in advance of a big snowstorm. 10 inches of snow + wind gusts up to 35mph. So I'm safely in front of my fireplace this morning :-). Half the state is under a no travel vunless critical advisory.
DD was disappointed that we didn't attend the college Christmas concert and now I realize we missed the Livestream as well. But we did spend one night with her.
Eating was good until I got into a fight with DH and sought soluce in treats. If I isolate that eating and get back on track today i will isolate and continue my count.
Nancy- so glad you are having quality time with DS. Sounds like it is a nice visit and the food is moderate. Enjoy!
Jan - how did DHs holiday party go? Do you enjoy those?
Lori- great to have good eating on your trip and great idea to have a healthy breakfast with friends at your home.
Hi to all who folllow!
Kathy

Good morning, Kathy, Sorry, you missed the concert but think it was a very wise choice to beat the storm. I’m pretty sure you can replay the livestream..or find it on the college website. Smart idea to isolate treats, sorry about the cause...hope today is a better day.
Yesterday, I was glad I had a healthy breakfast at home. So many tempting treats at the Christmas market....everything from homemade cookies, breads, apple dumplings, chocolates etc....I managed not to have anything (new DH wanted to go out for burgers). So for dinner, we went to our favorites burger place I ordered the Swiss burger w/grilled onions and crispy fries (brought half home). Enjoyed it mindfully! For dessert, I had 1/2 chocolate quest cake w/my yogurt frosting topped with drizzle of sf choc syrup, mini choc chips and crushed pretzels (so much more enjoyable then all the treats I passed up, plus only 5 points, and I stayed in control).
DH wants to take a ride today and stop for lunch....planning on finding a healthy salad....with no romaine.... Hi to everyone! Lori

Good morning. The party went well, and my eating wasn’t too bad. I had 4 glasses of wine to get through the evening (no, I don’t especially enjoy those events). I did have some specialty popcorn when I got home, which was completely unnecessary. For my holiday challenge I am OP 5/6 days. I’m happy with that, as I struggled a couple of those days.
Kathy, wow! Winter has hit early for you. Our weather is a balmy 60° with sunshine today. It’s a welcome relief after the weather we’ve had lately. We’ll be back in the 30’s tomorrow. Definitely move on today and put your emotional eating behind you. Getting right back on track seems to be a theme around here lately.
Lori, the food this time of year is ridiculous. I’m so glad I have a plan going in to December.
Nancy, how wonderful for you to have family time this weekend. You did well yesterday!
