Hello everyone,
I love gardening. I am a retired certified floral designer. We have many flowering shrubs, roses and plants but no vegetables or fruits.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's projects.

Hello everyone,
I love gardening. I am a retired certified floral designer. We have many flowering shrubs, roses and plants but no vegetables or fruits.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's projects. Hi Mar! Speaking of roses, did you see that David Austin Sr just passed away? I love his roses and his catalogue is beautiful. Deer also like roses so I am a little hesitant to plant them but this year I decided that I am going to grow a climbing Gertrude Jekyll on the side of my porch. The only roses I have attempted were shrub roses (favorite was Bonica) so this will be a learning curve for me---I might need you for advice! The rose I want to grow: For those not familiar with David Austin roses, here's a link to his beautiful site: www.davidaustinroses.com/us/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuNqvo_2w3wIVSQOGCh1u1QO8EAAYASAAEgLlIfD_BwE

Just rosemary and basil in my kitchen window fullmahina , since my thyme and mint bit the dust. Wish I had a basement to grow things in and do it right but the Houston area isn't real big on basements.
Oh Debs......my DH was soooooo happy to hear your mint bit the dust, HE THINKS that should get him out of the dog house for killing my plants.
I he wants you to be his new BFF. (and protect him from me)
Seriously, we walk in to a garden center and you can actually see the plants leaning as far away from him as possible while they are SCREAMING.....NOT ME please don't pick me.......

yogamama007, please let him out of the dog house. We plant killers can't help ourselves, we just look at them and they shrivel up and turn to dust. 🤣

Would you plant-killers consider starting with something pretty invincible? Although mint is pretty much considered invincible, it can die pretty easily if it is left to dry out. I am thinking succulent plants? They can be very pretty. Plop them in some dirt, toss some pebbles around them and they really look nice, especially grouped in a saucer-type pot. They do need some watering but will revive even if they are to the point of wrinkles (but not necessarily crinkles). And you can make new little ones by snapping off a piece and putting it in a bit of dirt. Kinda cool. Just trying to help here.

fullmahina , LOL Thank you. Bought him 3 succulents last year. MAY THEY REST IN PEACE. Hmmmmm, How big a Venus fly trap could I buy??? Just a thought.
Deb- have you thought of growing mint in a clay pot indoors? They need a lot of water, ours is planted on the north side of the house, near some underground springs.
