WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Darned sore throat hanging on - hoping for some improvement tomorrow. The hip and leg pain seems to have lessened, possibly due to inactivity. PT starts Monday. I'll go no matter what.

Jan - do you use the spray and cough drops as a remedy for symptoms when they occur or as a preventative?

Good morning, I had a wonderful get-together with an old co-worker. I had the petite sirloin(forgot to say no butter), plain sweet potato and two helpings of the salad bar. You would think that since I wanted a plain sweet potato I did not want added butter on the steak...of well, I scrapped it off as much as possible. We were there catching up for over 2 hours and it was a little chilly so I had about 3 cups of decaf coffee. Well, last night I had the worst leg cramps (this time I know sugar wasn't the culprit) thinking if was not enough water. I know when you drink caffeinated coffee you have to double your water intake, did think decaf would be the same...
Nancy, sorry your still battling the sore throat...hope today you feel improvement...
Jan, Awesome that you were able to enjoy a holiday treat - great job! The treats are starting to be delivered to the office also....double dipped chocolate pecans sitting next to me (I did have one the day they arrived)....

Lori - OMG double dipped chocolate pecans - Can you possibly move them so that they're out of sight? That's what I used to do in similar situations. The other option is to take one home but agree not have it until all the ones in the office are gone <g>. When I do have something like that, I try to have it with a glass of milk to add nutritional value and to increase the experience and make it more filling as well. If another treat is equally tempting you could do the same thing but have it on a different night. Just me thinking outloud............. How much time do you get off for the holiday?
