WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Good morning. I stuck to my plan at the tournament. I was hungry when I left, so I had a Balance bar. I was 40 minutes from home, and I made a 30 stop at Kohlโs on my way. Needless to say, when I finally ate dinner at 7:00 I was crazy hungry. DH ordered pizza, so I had 2 pieces of veggie. I also had some grapes, 2 cookies, and ice cream. Ah well. That I avoided junk food the rest of the day is a victory. Alex didnโt do as well as he thought he would, but he still took 4th place. He needs to remember that he took 2 years off from wrestling to swim, and missed out on experience that other kids have.
Nancy, does the juice offer more benefits than whole fruit? I would treat it as medicinal, and not count the points. When it comes right down to it, itโs about 100 extra calories a day. I think Costco also carries it.
Kathy, Iโm taking this busy holiday/wrestling season 1 day at a time. Could you pop your own popcorn at home and take it with you to games? Having made popcorn for the concession stand, trust me, youโd rather not eat the popcorn with the fake butter substance ๐
Louise, some Christmas seasons just go that way. Things come up, and typical traditions go by the way side. Itโs ok.

This morning I watched part of mass on EWTN with DM and finished the Dec. issue of "Skating" magazine (which comes as part of my membership) before going out to mass.
I enjoyed the magazine so much I pulled the Nov. one out of the stack. Although my magazines aren't piled completely, if I could do it I know I'd have a stack probably four feet high. I sorted them with the intent of taking some of them up to the VA hospital but haven't gotten to that part.
Including the "Skating" I have mostly mags that come with a membership. I've also got two mags that I never ordered and they just keep coming (Redbook and Better Homes and Gardens) at least DM enjoys them. Plus there are several newsletters. The point is I never get around to reading 99% of it. I've given thought to asking the membership organizations to stop sending theirs.
Weight-wise I'm not happy with myself. I've been binging sweets/chocolates, even to the point where it's making me slightly ill. I've sort of given up on the protein bars because they make me gaseous; I binge those too but I can have the effect from just eating one. There is a fruit and nut bar from Hannaford's in a smaller package (so a binge isn't quite as bad?). They don't seem to bother my digestive track. For right now though I'm avoiding buying them.
Someone here asked me about keeping the chocolates out of the house. That would be unfair to DM though. She enjoys them and has the control to eat them at a reasonable pace.
Jan-Thanks for the encouragement. We were able to get the nativity scene set up. Unfortunately there's no access to an electric outlet (another long story there) so we can't get the star above the scene. I was thinking of getting a small tree and using the Native American Dream Catchers we have (another story LOL) as ornaments but DM doesn't like the idea.
Hope every one else is doing well.
Louise

Jan - Heaven knows how many black cherries would be required to accomplish 6 oz of the juice or even where to get them unless frozen. Today I took your advice and didn't count it. The proof of the pudding will be in the weigh ins the next few weeks. I can always reconsider if the scale takes notice. I'll wait to hear from Lori in case she has a different approach. Sounds admirable to me that Alex took fourth place after taking two years off.

Sorry MIA, just busy with Christmas stuff... Nancy, Regarding the juice, I think I would continue tracking your 19 points and isolate the drink. The scale will be the judge. If the scale goes up, then you could adjust...
BB tomorrow..
