WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C94D3, 19 points, 4 rollovers, 6 water, 1287 calories – 88 for breakfast that I forgot to track or I would have kept it under 1200. Treadmill this morning, then PT We’ve decided to stop the PT. It’s really not helping much and my arthritis/stenosis has not limited me – still walking the mall, the treadmill, table tennis, line dancing. They gave me some stretching exercises to do at home in addition to my daily back exercises. I need to make the time. After all, I had 1-1/2 hours 2 or 3 times a week for PT. I can certainly allot 15 minutes between 2 and 3:30 each day now that I’m not going. Appt with orthopedist on Thursday. Tomorrow DH has a late dentist appt and suggested we stop at Boston Market on the way home to bring in dinner. For me that will be ¼ chicken, sweet potatoes and marshmallows, stuffing and a corn muffin. It will be isolated. The rest of the day is planned at 909 calories and 15 points. I’ll have 3 days to play catch up. Jan – Can’t wait to hear how you react to the WI – It’s been years, hasn’t it? Hopefully you’re in for a pleasant surprise. What’s a fitness challenge anyway? I know it feels good to have a fridge full of prepared meals. Lori – You’re learning how to work the system while remaining in control and maintaining. For me what works is a combination of counting calories and points with the occasional isolated meal. Now if I can only continue without binging. It’s got to be possible, right? Cindy – Life happens. Shake it off. This is a new day, fresh with no mistakes in it. Kathy?

Really quick check in for me this morning, I’m off to sub a 7 AM class. 21+ APs and 16 non-Core points yesterday.
Nancy, I was weighing other people in, I didn’t get on the scale. Every January we do a 6-8 week fitness and weight loss challenge for our members. There are incentives, contests, and prizes. This year we have a heart rate monitor that’s included in the cost, and one of the challenges will be earning the most fitness points on the app for the monitor.
Cindy, recently we’ve really found the value in getting right back on track. We’ve found that the damage of one day or one meal is minimal if we get right back into exercising and controlled eating. You’ll be fine!

Jan - Got it. I thought it was a fitness challenge for you. What a great idea. How many members partake in the challenge? Do you do a weekly WI or just the final one at the end?
Cindy - Jan's right. After my ridiculous binge on Saturday, I weighed in at 141.5 on Sunday. Right back on the beam Sunday and Monday, and today I'm at 138 - down 3.5 which is even down from Saturday morning's weight. Try it. Think of it as a scientific experiment <g>.

Hi Everyone!!
Really enjoyed last night's dinner...thinking today will be a CORE day ...
Nancy, Great job getting right back on track! your isolated dinner sounds perfect! Enjoying things you don't normally have while staying in control!! Continuing without binging is the ultimate goal but I'm learning to be okay with the occasional overindulging....Like Jan said, it's getting right back on track to our normal healthy eating is the true key... Jan, I think it's wonderful that you don't use the scale - it works for you and that is what counts!! I on the other hand have gotten much better and use it more as a tool to guide me as to what plan I should follow...going from getting on every morning to twice a week as been a hugh, positive change for me. Cindy, Great job posting!! It's one meal and it's behind you...one foot in front of the other....you got this!! Thinking of you Kathy!!
Have a great day everyone! Lori

Lori - I have no problem with overindulging on occasion. Overindulging in my view involves a degree of pleasure. When I binge it's more in the moronic vein, i.e. eating everything in sight of the all or nothing variety. It has nothing to do with enjoyment, more like pigging out for the sake of pigging out. That's what I'd like to avoid indefinitely. Capiche??
