QOTD:
This week one of the threads on free forums had an interesting question that I learned much about other members of the group. I’d like to use it to start this round.
This is the question geminigrl posed:
January... named after the Roman god,Janus, whose duality allowed him too look both backward and forward. Am considering this a good time to reflect on what "worked" and what needs "work."
Why do you want to be ar a healthy weight? Having a clear why opens the way for focus, positivity, commitment, and willful action.
AOTD:
As for my why, my journey has been long and slow, but I will not give up. Watching my mom, who turns 93 in February reminds me to take care of myself as I age. Her mom and aunt both lived to be a few months from 100. Having RA keeps me aware of moving. It does help that dh is lifetime and supports my journey.

My WHY...
Health is a big one BUT being lighter on my feet and more bendy in the middle always come to mind. If I am at goal weight I can do more and walk further and just feel a whole lot better in my skin.

Originally, I joined WW to get back to my pre-menopause size (or one size up from pre-menopause). Took me about 14 or 15 months to Lifetime status. Have been at goal ever since (maybe August-ish 2010? 2011?). I want to stay at this size (8) because I like the way my body feels (rather than the way I look, which is fine, BTW, just not my primary interest).
I ate a healthy diet in the 1960s and when I found SFT (during Momentum days) I realized it mirrored my 1960s diet. I felt very healthy then and have been feeling healthy since starting on SFT (and now SF). I got away from processed foods (which makes a tremendous difference!) and it's easy to maintain my size... Moreover, I have all these support folks around the continent with all sorts of encouragement, not to mention recipes!

My reason is most definitely my health. Like Pam, I have longevity in my family. I want to be able to walk & take care of myself as long as possible. I feel so much better when my weight is down. I feel better physically & mentally. I have been fighting my weight issue all of my life. I feel like this is my last chance to get this right.

My why is the same as most of you. I want to be as healthy as I can. I have both RA and osteoarthritis and not weighing so much is easier on my body, especially my knees. I do all right with healthy eating, but I need to be more active. My goal is to actively move around and do spurts of exercise every hour, at least, during the day, more often if I can.
I am on prednisone, which doesn't help with the weight loss, but I'm doing my best to overcome that necessary evil.

Pam, I never saw the sign up thread. Definitely I will continue. I can host any week.

I had to go to the dr today because my knee hurt so badly that I could barely walk. He mentioned arthritis as a possible cause. What he didn't mention is that I am overweight and that added pressure on my knees isn't helping any. If I don't want to head down the knee replacement road, I need to get some weight off. I don't remember them hurting when I was at goal weight.
I think my health just generally is better when I am at a healthy weight. Like Cathy said, being more bendy in the middle, to just be able to move with less effort.

Health in general, as everyone else has mentioned.
Weight is part of it, but overall healthful eating (which usually leads to a healthy weight) is important to me. There's family history of heart disease, pre-diabetes - hope that eating well can help keep that in check. Being a healthy weight also, I hope, will contribute to get around comfortably as time goes on, not adding stress to knees and so on.
