Good for you! I'm going to wait until May and June to plant outside, but I love watching others! I have started things indoors in the past with some success. My excuse now is age and being the 24/7 caregiver for my hb with dementia! I try to streamline things.
Spring is my favorite time of year.

Three weeks after starting the basement garden. I don't think I would do spinach again---the germination rate was not good. I'll get a few leaves but not much more. The compact dill was slow and germination not great but I don't need many seeds to germinate so we will see how they turn out. Slow to germinate, slow growing. Radishes, the two kinds of lettuce, and the green onions are doing really well.

fullmahina, lovely indoor garden. WTG and such a great idea—and you have the commercial growers who can't keep the food supply safe to thank for the inspiration!

Thanks everyone! This week I will plant seeds for new crops of lettuce and radishes. I'm going to use flower boxes this time---picked up some really inexpensive ones at Christmas Tree Shops and want to try a different way just for the heck of it. I like growing lettuce outside in flower boxes so it should work! This was my Manoa lettuce in Hawaii---I miss that year-round growing, especially the citrus. I am thinking of getting a small calamondin lime tree and trying to grow it on the deck this summer.

fullmahina,- you are absolutely amazing! I'm lucky if I can keep any kind of houseplant alive!

hpeterson1951 , thanks. I have always loved to grow things. Starting from seed is fun, except when you get the inevitable failures. It's a learning process and IMHO anyone can do it if they remember three things: light, water, and food. That's about it! I taught myself. No one in my family was interested in gardening except for the occasional summer tomato plant by the back door. My grandmother had beautiful houseplants and I have a picture of her somewhere with a fabulous "Victory Garden" during WWII so maybe I got it from her!
