Another crazy day. I tried to fix the list of channels that Jim prefers on the new TV service and got online to find out how and contacted the internet company instead of the TV company. So I had to start all over with the TV company. I still haven't gotten it fixed for him. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. It has been raining on and off all day again. We are soooo flooded here on the ranch. The mini horse's owner's husband had a major heart attack and may be taken off life support tonight. So, I'm holding my breath about that. She was a dispatcher with me and her DH was a cop with my DH#1. He has been running and owning a firewood business and sells Christmas trees, pumpkins and more too but the business was in the process of being sold when the guy who was going to buy it dropped dead. So, I'm sure stress had a lot to do with his heart attack. Her DD took lessons with my DDIL when she was 10....and now she is married and a lot older since we've been here on the ranch for almost 25 yrs. (in September). Remember I have mentioned that Shana keeps stealing the mini's chicken that makes a noise when squeezed. This place is a large family. Many people have been here for years and years. Nancy: I still haven't talked to Jim about the realtor....He has spent so much time in bed. it is hard.I only have 2300 steps so far because of the rain. I just can't walk out there for long or I would come in soaked. Harriet: I am so thankful...my kids would help each other if needed. And, they don't mind at all that I help with the ranch when needed. My oldest DD says she and her DH might retire out here. I would ask my tenants to move if that was the case...unless of course I am no longer alive when that happens. I retired at 55 but I don't think they will retire that young. I had a ranch to run and I didn't need the income. Sandy: My kitty bit me last night but it didn't hurt....I'm sure it was a love bite. She was preening my hair first. Cats can be weird.... Glad you can still plan the Alaskan cruise and I pray that the rest turns out OK for you two. Let's get into our circle of wagons now and sing by the fire "WE CAN DO THIS, YES WE CAN...WE CAN LOSE NEW POUNDS...MY THIN FRIENDS!"

Hi everyone thanks for the start Kathie. Sounds like you had a stressful day with the TV channels for Jim, the rain and flooding. So sorry to hear that your horse owners husband may be taken off life supports. That's always sad. We had to stay with Joe's sister while the children signed the papers for her to be taken off life support. I am so lucky to have the mall and friends so close. It is 19 here so I would never walk outside. I retired at 50. My DH said he supported us when we had 3 children and as they were gone there was no reason for me to work. I didn't receive my pension until I was 55. It seems things were cheaper then. That was almost 30 years ago. Where did all the years go?
Harriet that is why I always try to give my children equal amounts so there can be no anger later on. It is easy to give others advice but we all have to make our own decisions.
Sandy sounds like you had a busy night with all your pets. WOW! I can't believe what you found out at the bank when you sent the money. We also came from nothing and we were always thankful for what we had. Sorry to say our children have always seemed to live beyond their means but everything is so expensive now. I pray you get to go to Alaska. I loved it there but traveling without my DH isn't much fun, so don't put it off too long.
I had a good day yesterday with 11890 steps no dancing. Today I'll go to WW and then dance. Bill will come at 1 after my haircut. I have a little shopping to do before the storms come tonight. I'm starting to feel almost as good as new. Have a great Friday! Hugs and blessings to us all! See you in the morning

Oh, how wonderful to greet your with more than 6 hours of sleep. Kathie, Jenny too, in northern CA, has water totally surrounding her house, but it is just ground water build up, not anything that would cause flooding. It seems when it comes to weather, it is either feast or famine. We were facing a drought just before this last summer - NOT NOW! We got a little more snow yesterday but the temps are up so it looks like there is no ice. I have the eye appointment at 11 about the laser surgery, so hope I don't have to miss it. It is wonderful when your children are that close, and no one of them dislikes another. My two DSIL's are SO different, and don't like each other for whatever reason - perhaps because their backgrounds and interests are totally different. One is a Geek and the other is a Jock. I am only hoping my two girls will remain close and support each other in spite of their husband's differences. It isn't my children that I am worried about but the effect their husbands can have over them.
Sandy, I have had so many other thoughts since yesterday but I do not want to overload your stress. All of the memories of the pains of the past bubbled to the surface, and I so hope you do not have that pain. You will do what is best for you and your family. So glad you are planning the Alaska vacation. As Nancy says, it is easy to give advice but each of us makes our own decisions. I do hope I didn't upset you with what I said yesterday, but the pain of not being able to speak to my child for almost 6 months was horrible. I wish that stress on no one. Sending you a special hug as you work this out. Apparently your son really didn't want you to know if they were that far behind.
Nancy, you did such a good job of the downsizing and moving after Joel passed. You will be able to help Evie. Just keep moving yourself. I hope the cruise helps her. Keep working on the app. It is so worth it to me. I think we may go to the meeting today because we don't know what tomorrow's weather will be. I have had a horrible week, and I know I made poor choices. Must get back on track. We can do it, right???

I had a good night sleep again and I think putting Maybean in the back bedroom with his water, food and blanket at night is working as he sleeps until about 5:30 and then will start meowing. With his blanket there he even goes back there during the day to nap. I finally got my finger to stop bleeding from the hamster's bite by putting Vaseline on it.
Fred told Debbie at lunch yesterday he was making chili to be ready for a snowy weekend so she asked him to please give her some. Jim asked was this a family recipe? Fred said it was my Mom's and Debbie said but I think he adds stuff that he doesn't tell as when I make it it doesn't taste the same at all. So he's meeting the chimney guy at her house today to get the damper fixed and chimney cleaned so he'll take some over and put it in her fridge.
Maija Instagrammed Debbie a picture of herself and some of the other teens at the Lincoln memorial in DC yesterday and it shocked me to see them standing with four police officers and one had a machine gun! Never saw that in DC before! But it was a cute picture as all the girls had big smiles and so did the officers. Looks like good weather for the Right to Life March today. But the bus driver said before they left that they hope to leave early tomorrow morning to start back and avoid the bad weather especially in the mountains.
Harriett you didn't upset me at all. I appreciate all thoughts and if it was me I would tell my son about being asked for the money but Fred's family helped us when he was out of work and we were very grateful. So I just have to go along with his wishes on this matter. I'm just sad that our DIL felt it necessary to ask for the money without telling our son.
But enough of that as I'm starting to think about Alaska and I think my sister said her husband has a cousin who is a travel agent and Alaska cruises are his speciality. I know being on our first cruise would be so much more fun going with them as they are very experienced cruisers and we just always enjoy being with them.

Sandy sorry ddil added to the stress you have been going through. go for the Alaskan trip.should be fun.
Nancy you are so blessed to be able to do the things you can do now. we are on the boarder of maybe getting 2-4 inches or 2-5 of snow. sound like people south of us are really going to get hit. Iowa is one of them.
