Happy Day All!
Lin – hope you enjoy the chair yoga. I went a couple of years ago with my neighbor – the one who has moved with DD to IL. I liked it, but it’s almost an hour away now with this detour – IF they’re even open. I heard that building was really torn up badly.
Mar – hope you’re feeling better today – please get lots of rest and drink tons of fluids.
Sue – you are amazingly patient and dedicated to both DH and eating healthy. Good for you.
PeggySue – I also keep sunglasses in the car, by my keys and in my purse (if those don’t end up in the car).
Phyl – I’m with you – if I have a “special” something in the house, I eat it til it’s gone. No control. That’s why I don’t keep any kind of chocolate or candy here – or ice cream.
Dayle – funny story about the corset. My goodness, how could she not realize she had it on!
Three cheers!!! Yesterday I think we found a contractor to take out the wet stuff and replace it, and finish the outside of the house and rebuild the shop. He’s coming out tomorrow to talk. I was ecstatic! We also worked in the yard a bit, making smaller piles of pine cones, branches, sticks and sea grass that DH will burn later.
Also talked to the piano man (no, not Billy Joel)! We’re going to wait to have him come out and evaluate and tune the piano until after all the work in the house is done. Can’t remember if I’ve told y’all about the piano or not. It’s a 7’ grand, built in 1906 and my mom bought it in 1926. I literally grew up playing it, and playing under it. Now it just sits there and I’m either going to sell it or donate it. This hurricane got my attention! Talked with the guy about donating it, and he recommended I consider one of the churches here in town that lost theirs. When telling DH about it, he said THE sweetest thing ever! He said donating it to a church here was a great idea because then I could go visit it. How nice is that? I cried. He knows getting rid of it is a little like losing my mother again.
Well, need to get a little something to eat and take a shower. Then we’re off to the eye doctor for DH to hopefully pass the test for his driver’s license. Oh please, please, please! DH said he’d take me to lunch afterward. Hope we’re celebrating. Also hope that something is open. Many of the restaurants still are not. Probably end up at O’Charley’s.
Make your day a good one!

morning, penny I love the picture. never thought of it that way.
we had a good time with Theresa and Jim yesterday. she gave me some quilting novelty items. she love her cardinal sweatshirt.
they loved lunch at senior villa.I did not go to ww today .just did not feel like it.weight is way up anyway. that doesn't usually stop me.
today I am meeting Kathie at a uptown cafe. she did not want any money for hemming Margie's pants. she suggested lunch. a lot cheaper then if I would have taken the pants to a alteration place.
Penny glad you found someone for the walls. hope she works is good at what he does. phyl

Good morning. Penny, looks likes you're making some progress. Hope the contractor works out for you.
Up early today. Had plans to meet friends for breakfast about an hour away but they're getting heavy snow so we cancelled. No snow here, just cold.
Had an appt yesterday with CORE. It's a program for DH to increase his heart health. May include cardiac rehab, a monitored exercise program.
Pharmacy, library and grocery store today.

Good morning Penny & ATF,
Snow showers going on this morning. Currently it's 31 and I believe that's our high for today.
Frankie is still not feeling better. He still has a low grade temperature and when you ask him how do you feel he says not so good, I just want to sleep. He is home again and his dad is watching him so they will both sleep/rest. All he wanted to do was cuddle with me. Poor little guy!
Ed got an estimate yesterday for the damages on his truck and sent it over to the trucking outfit. They called this morning but he is in work so I guess he'll return the call then....$2,000+ for damages.
Guess I'll do some laundry today also. When my car gets home I have 3 prescriptions waiting for me at CVS, I'll go pick them up.
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone,
Well...the rain stopped. It rained for 4 days. Very unusual over here. The yards did fine. They look extreamly happy. The roof held up. No more rain predicted for at least a week.
Today is is my hair appointment. Also need to go to a bank that holds an IRA. The bank is so messed up we are going to move it next week.
Still dont feel like myself. I feel like my body wants to be sick. But I am not sick. Weird. Dry throat and mouth. Headache off and on. Super tired. Extra cold but not chills.
My weight is still up also. Did not lose anything while in Vegas. I am back to tracking. I need to get serious about getting back to goal.
Bringing back out my recumbent exercise bike. I need to start getting back in shape. My energy level is low.
Betty- the program sounds like it really will help hubby. That's great he is wanting to participate.
Penny- wonderful news about the repairs going in right direction.
Emily- hope he feels better quickly. I hope you do not catch it.
Art- glad your back is better. Yes, grocery cart make good walkers.

Morning All!
Penny good news about the contractor! I hope it works out for you and it happens soon! Donating the piano to a church sounds like an excellent idea, one I’m sure your mother would be really happy with. The memories will always be with you and the piano will have a new life of giving people solace and pleasure. Well done! I can’t think of anything better than that. Keeping good thoughts about DH and the eye doctor.
Lin the chair yoga sounds like something I would like. I’ve seen DVDs of chair yoga programs and may get one of those since there is nothing around here like that. The Y is 45 minutes away and you have to pay a yearly membership fee as well as individual fee for whatever program you are interested in. Too much time and money, for something I know I will not follow through on.
Cousin came home about 9:30 last night and Lily took a flying leap off the couch and is now limping around again. It’s almost impossible to curtail her enthusiasm so it’s kind of a no-win situation. I will keep her quiet today and see if that helps a bit. He understands the problem, so he is trying his best to not excite her too much, but it’s like asking her not to breathe. He’s leaving now and will be home late, so she will have a quiet day with her boring Mom.
I had one of those food intolerance tests done recently and got the results yesterday. According to the report I am extremely sensitive to dairy (cheese and butter the worst), wheat products, pineapples and pears. With the exception of eggs, of course, these are the things I eat the most. Cheese is a staple, bread and rolls (are you kidding) and pineapples and pears are my fruits of choice. The only thing on the list that I don’t have to worry about giving up is goat. Apparently I am highly sensitive to goat meat. Thank goodness I have no attachment to that …. I was not surprised with the dairy and wheat, I’ve kind of suspected that for a while now, but was surprised by the pineapple and pears. Another big red flag, but not anything I will feel bad about giving up is avocados – that was my most sensitive/intolerant food. There are a lot of chemicals and minerals in my body that shouldn’t be there, none to an alarming degree, but curious how they got there. There were some deficiencies (calcium, magnesium, zinc and b complex) that I can correct with vitamins. I have to read up on some of the other stuff and find out exactly what they are before I can figure out if they are worrisome or not. I guess I will get out the bread maker and start using alternative flours to make my bread products. That could be an adventure in itself.
Well the house is quiet now (cousin gone, Lily asleep in her bed) so I guess I will go into the back room and play for a while.
Everyone enjoy the day we’ve been given.
Dayle

Our paper has a really cute headline is big block letters today. WINTER WALLOP WEEKEND . We have parking restrictions in all the towns and cities around us. Leave the roads to the snow plows. Warning first, then a fine and then towing away which costs quite a bit of money to retrieve your vehicle. Grocery stores were very busy and probably more so today. also read that our state liquor stores were busy also. I guess that brandy etc will taste good next week with the frigid temps we are supposed to get. We will see!! I'll believe it when I see it. If so will watch it out the winter and think how beautiful it is. My DDs do NOT have Martin Luther King day off but DD#2 may take it off as a vacation day.
We got bad news yesterday, if my DSIL"s Mom doesn't get moved out of her house by 6pm today it will cost her $500. They had told her she had to be out on the 19th and she thought they might give her more time as the reason the papers weren't signed was the new owners. But nope!! My DD is taking vacation day today and my DGS will be able to come and help DSIL but the kids in W.VA are not able to come until after 4pm. So DD told them it was fine, with the winter storm coming may not be good idea to be on road from W Va. If they still need to clean I will be able to help with that but not sure when they are planning to tackle that. main thing is to get her stuff out of her house. Sure hope no one gets hurt with her really heavy furniture.
I cleared the porch for the FedEx delivery today and they got here while I was doing it, so that worked okay. also the Schwan truck will be here about 7pm. So that is done. Until the next snow fall.
I am seriously thinking about a chair exercise DVD also. I tried doing Yoga from a DVD but nope that didn't work.
I don't lose my car keys, or phone ( do have a find phone app on my Ipad but have never needed to use it) My really good sun glasses are in the car at all times, never take them out but if I go with someone else have other sun glasses and always seem to misplace them.
Art glad you are doing better, It is funny but all my friends with aches and pains seem to be worse in the cold weather but my knee always seems better with the cold weather. Pushing the snow shovel is fine and so is walking, but then I worry about the ice and snow and falling!! Don't need that. Do have good tread on my boots and never go out with just shoes, crocs or slippers on. that is how they all end up falling!!!! I take time to put on boots.
Penny glad to hear about the contractor!! Hope you like him. Is he local or from out of town.?

Penny, that is good news. good idea for piano too. Sure am glad Micki is not as big on my lap as Charlie!
Resting today as the day after yoga my sciatica talks a little to me. It does not like reaching up. as my core gets stronger, i should do better...really need to.
i am lucky Y is half mile away although old and getting pretty tatty. My insurance pays Silver sneakers. I could also do it at the city senior center.
The dvd is anothergood idea. you can learn Adapted tau chi that way on dvd from arthritis association. my knees were ok when i did tai chi. I stopped because of foot problems...big mistake.
Yard guys cut back the frosted shrubs out front today. we used to , but DH has benign tremor and after my incidence of melanoma 11 years ago, I topped working out where there was nothing but blazing sun and rock landscape. back yard is shady at times.
Then Micki went to groomer , got his McDonalds burger on the way back, and came home tired. We had a short walk and he is lying in dead dog pose on the bed next to me!

We had a smattering of snowflakes early this morning, but now some of the clouds have cleared. Our weather is very definite. Something will happen, but something may not match the forecast.
I had to take hb with me to sign some paperwork this morning's my. Afterwards, I finally stopped by the meat shop which is fairly new. I think I was talking to the owner. I ordered a lamb which will be ready in about two weeks and purchased some other items. After I figure out how much freezer space I have left, I'll buy a quantity of grass fed grass finished beef. I do have a freezer up at the cabin, but I can't move it to the the garage until after the snow melts.
Penny, I hope things proceed satisfactorily at this point. I understand your piano and the emotional attachments. I have my mother's cello. I never heard her play it, but I learned to play the cello because it was in the house. It's sitting in a closet here. I should have sold it before I retired and left California. I should do something with it now. Thanks for the idea! It is worth something, but I may get better mileage out of a donation to the university. I wish I could play the piano! I guess I still could!
A short report on one of hb's frequent daily questions: I start to sit down and he asks, "What you upping to?" I stand up, and before I've taken a step, he asks, "What you upping to?" This goes on all day long. I answer the question, and then he asks, "What?" It's now taking three or four what's before hb understands what I said (which wasn't that important to begin with). I'm not sure whether it's an additional hearing loss or an auditory processing problem. I don't know whether the what you upping to question started as an attempt to be humorous or because he's losing words. Yesterday he was looking at the mail for what seemed like forever and started asking questions about the bank statement. I guess I'm supposed to have creative vision and supernatural powers. At times like that, it's very difficult not to get snippy, especially if I'm tired. That's one of the reasons I read a lot! So I continued reading or texting and noticed something flopping up and doe at the edge of my peripheral vision. He was trying to hand me something. "Here's the checkbook!" I asked him to please put it down. There was no point in telling him that it was the bank statement, not the checkbook.
I'm glad you think I'm patient, Penny. That's how I try to act, but that's not how I feel most of the time. It took me a long time to get to the point where I was able to get past the ongoing frustration and accept the fact that he is not able to think logically, that his cognitive skills are going downhill more rapidly. This is a very long journey.
Dayle, I love your daffodils! Did you say you used quilling paper? The intricacy of the work is fascinating to me. I feel like I'm klutzy with tiny things now!
Have a good rest of the day!
