TOOT! TOOOOT! CHUG CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville down the track and into your station, so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
This morning it was 28º (feels like 19º) and we have snow in the forecast this morning and going up to 29º and with snow showers continuing this afternoon with winds ENE 15-25 mph. We had a winter weather advisory for today with 2-5” of snow but it was changed to just 1”.
I don’t think there are any special plans for today.
I started reading Raspberry Danish Murder by Joanne Fluke. These mysteries are about Hannah Swensen, who is the owner of The Cookie Jar, and introduces a raspberry Danish pastry to the menu. These are some of my favorite books. In this book Hannah’s husband of about a month has vanished without a trace and left their marriage in limbo.

Good morning Doris & ATF,
Snow showers going on this morning. Currently it's 31 and I believe that's our high for today.
Frankie is still not feeling better. He still has a low grade temperature and when you ask him how do you feel he says not so good, I just want to sleep. He is home again and his dad is watching him so they will both sleep/rest. All he wanted to do was cuddle with me. Poor little guy!
Ed got an estimate yesterday for the damages on his truck and sent it over to the trucking outfit. They called this morning but he is in work so I guess he'll return the call then....$2,000+ for damages.
Guess I'll do some laundry today also. When my car gets home I have 3 prescriptions waiting for me at CVS, I'll go pick them up.
Have a great day everyone!

Emily,
I'm sorry Frankie isn't feeling better and I hope he will be back to normal soon. At least you can get your laundry done since Frankie's dad will be with him.
That sounds like a lot of damage on Ed's truck and good that it will be paid for. I hope it won't take too long to get done so you won't be without a car to get around.

Hi!
It was good to meet our retired teachers group for breakfast this morning. We had missed meeting for two weeks, so we had a lot of catching up to do. Afterwards, we went to get our haircuts and then to Walgreens to pick up our prescriptions. Now, we are home. The forecast has changed again, saying lows for us this weekend should be in the 20s. with no rain or snow.
We are hibernating for the rest of the day, but it isn't the weather -- we are both ready to stay home after the hours out and about.
DGS was refused the program the counselor wanted for him because he doesn't have the right diagnosis. I have no idea what that means, but DD will be over this afternoon to explain. I'm not sure if they will pursue it or not. Emily, I'm sorry Frankie is still sick. Hope he recovers over the weekend. Will the insurance pay for a loaner car, while the repairs are made? They should. Doris, I need to catch up with Hannah Swenson! I think I am two books behind. Have a happy day! Diane

Ed's accident wasn't reported to either persons insurance company. The trucking company is paying for the repairs and yes he will be able to rent a car and they will pay for that.
Frankie's dad took him to the pediatrician this morning. They took a throat culture and prescribed meds. I'm sure he will be ok soon. They have off From school for MLK day on Monday so he should be good to go by Tuesday.

Emily,
Its good to know Ed will be able to have a rental car while the trucking company is repairing his truck.
It was good that Frankie's dad took him to the pediatrician and he has medicine to take now. I hope he will be feeling better soon.

Diane,
You had a busy morning with the early breakfast with the retired teachers and got haircuts too.
I'm sorry your DGS was denied the counseling because he doesn't have the right diagnosis.
I really enjoy the Hannah Swensen books and I'm always ready for a new one.

Just talked to DD#2 and the cleaning if probably of for tomorrow. her mother in law has to be out of the house by 6pm today. Not sure what happened but DD took a day vacation and DGS will be in to help move her. They have a big box trailer and hoping to get everything in it. so tomorrow maybe moving stuff from the trailer into her new house. It is crazy. kind of mix up in the language I guess, she thought she had to be out on the 19th but it was By the 19th. Only got the keys to her new house on Wednesday. I am not sure what is going on but think it is a bit funny and doesn't make sense to me, wouldn't you be sure what was going on?? DGKids coming in from W.Va probably won't do that now. With the big snow storm coming I hope they don't!!
I cleared the front porch and part of the driveway for the FedEx guy and he came while I was doing it. the Schwan truck will be here about 7pm. My dumpster is in garage because they are saying high winds and with only one bag in it right now it would blow over. Too hard to pick back up in snow. Bird feeder is full but not sure how long that is going to last. have not seen a squirrel for days. Must be hibernating and maybe they know something??? Just little finches and wrens out and about. Ground is covered and robins that stay the winter are probably hunkered down in the ravine where they have a lot of ground cover etc.
Doris I got my new order yesterday from Reader Service and 3 of my favorite authors were included this time. Lot of reading in case I don't get to the library. Also thinking about getting my hair colored at the local beauty shop near me. My beautician is only in shoppe 3 days now and it is harder to get there with the weather the way it is. This place is just around the corner with a big 'flat' driveway, unlike the hill at my beauticians. Which is usually not plowed.
Calli is sleeping at lot the last couple of days. Then crazy at night. Wants all kinds of attention and wants to check out my dinner every night. Going to have to start eating at the table. Usually eat in living room in front of TV

This morning the streets and sidewalks weren't too bad when I went to the Y but after getting home Dave tried to go to the mailbox and the sidewalk is so slippery he said it wasn't worth it. So I put on those grippers that John gave us for Christmas. I put them on my garden shoes so I don't need to remove them and by gum!! they work!! I'm not running races but they do grip on the glaze of ice. So far that is all we have we'll see about the snow. Lots of area schools are closing early. ''
The following is quote from my DDIL in TX from yesterday: "This time last week, I was sitting next to Sam waiting for CT scan results. I still don't fully understand what happened... But I know two things that happened right.
1. Sam wasn't alone when it happened. The workout room at their station is in a basement with a heavy self closing door at the top. He could have been down there for hours before they missed him but instead he had oxygen and an iv within 2-3 minutes and was to the hospital in 15-20 minutes. Thanks M!
2. The ER was BUSY but Sam had doctors who were able to get a diagnosis via CT scan in about 3 hours. Vertebral artery dissections occur at a rate of 1 in 100,000 and present with symptoms that are easily attributed to migraines or other ailments. He was able to start the anticoagulant treatment before a real stroke occurred. 🙌🙌🙌 And Dr. C got to see her first VAD.
So thankful he is shocking everyone this week by being so.... Healthy. He has a ways to go before he can work or go back to his normal routine."
Thinking about you guys today

Connie,
I hope DD#2's MIL gets moved in time. That must have been some kind of mix up on dates.
You probably had quite a job clearing space for the FedEx and Schwan deliveries. The weather has been bad in lots of places. It sounds like the next week or so will be best staying inside and you have some new books to read which is always nice.

Helen,
With the slippery streets we had it was good that you had the grippers John gave you so you could go out for the mail and you found that they worked really well.
Thanks for posting DDIL's message about what happened to Sam. I think the Lord was looking out for him and he got the help he needed for recovery. Its good to hear he is doing so well and is back at home.
