WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Good morning. Winter is here, without a doubt! I’m going to try to get to the grocery store later today, and also the gym. I’ve changed my mind and decided I do want to run a few miles on the track. We’ll see, right now the roads are still a mess.
It was an OP day yesterday until about 5:00. I veered off track, but all in all it wasn’t bad.
Stay warm and safe, ladies!

Jan- Never got above 0 here yesterday. Good plan to workout at the gym. I saw an article on how the body can respond to extreme cold and the dangers.
Nancy- another good day for you.

Hi Everyone! So thankful we upgraded our generator. Power has been out since 6 am and no telling when it’s going to be restored. The ice is building up...
Yesterday was a Great eating day! Lunch I made a 3sp pizza using Joseph’s pita as the crust and for dinner, I made a 5sp calzone using the 2-ingredient bagel recipe. Both were delicious!! Good exercise day also. I did a Jessica Smith arm workout and I was able to complete my Pilate DVR for the first time since my neck issues. It felt so good to be able to do it!!
Nancy, Great list you posted yesterday!! We have learned a lot! Just need to remind ourselves once in awhile...hope your not getting the ice by you.. Jan, stay safe and stay put if you can....you probably have more ice than we do... Kathy, love seeing your post!! Good luck at the potluck and stay as warm as possible.... Cindi, look forward to reading your post!!
Stay safe and warm everyone!!

Brrrrrr! I took Roscoe out with me to shovel a couple of paths into the house for him, then we went for a 2 mile walk. It was bitter cold— 15° with 16 mph sustained winds, gusting much higher than that. I did actually enjoy myself, the road was covered in snow and there were no cars out. He ran like a crazy dog, in and out of snow drifts, across yards, into the field.....so much fun to watch. I got on my bike for 39 minutes, now I’m getting ready to lean some new Pound songs.
Lori, wow, I’m so glad you have a generator! We don’t have any ice, just a ton of blowing, drifting snow.
Kathy, oh the dreaded potluck. Be tough. You can do it.

Jan - Today was mild here but by 5 when we played pool it was freeeeezing - 20 and blistery. More of the same expected tomorrow. It's incomprehensible to me that you ran 2 miles in the snow at 15 degrees.
Kathy - Re the potluck, Here's what the item "Don't be Difficult with Food" says: "t's important not to let your healthy lifestyle get in the way of your social life. If you're out with family and friends, do not worry about the food options. It's not important. Simply choose the best available to you. Otherwise, you will only complicate your relationship with food." I agree with that. It's why I tend to isolate those situations. So I would track the rest of the day and consider it something like "13 points + isolated potluck supper".
Lori - What a break that you got the generator. You're doing great with the exercise videos -- and with the food. Yes, we've come a long way.
Cindy - Your silence is deafening. Talk to us, please.

The other day DM called me into the "family room" where she had found Marisol curled up on the loveseat. Fine with both of us so now she has a new place to lounge.
Brutally cold and windy today, it's actually 14 out there now a warmup from 5. I think we got about a foot of snow but also had hours of sleet. I don't know what I was thinking this noontime when I left the garage door open. So now I have snow/sleet all over everything in the front 1/3 of the garage.
My eating remains a mess. Too much binging on sweets. I'm not even sure how much I weigh today. It's also reinforced my earlier thoughts on Freestyle not being for me. Basically I use too many points because I like things that are not zero points foods over the zero point options. For instance I use flavored (although nonfat) yogurts most of the time instead of the nonfat plain. The nonfat plain makes a perfectly acceptable option using Stevia and cinnamon. I've also used the chocolate pudding where it's one point for seven grams of the dry powder with Stevia in the yogurt.
Wow to the ending of the AFC championship game. The Patriots are going back to the Super Bowl.
