Anyone watching the Super Bowl today ? If you are, did you or will you lighten up any food that is being served ?
Some interesting fun (and shocking) Super Bowl food facts:
Research suggests that people will take in a minimum of 1,200 calories and 50 grams of fat on Super Bowl Sunday... from snacking alone!
According to the National Chicken Council, more than 1.3 billion chicken wings will be eaten during Super Bowl weekend.
On the actual day of the Super Bowl, Americans will consume 8 million pounds of guacamole.
While wings and pizza are the two most popular Super Bowl snacks, chips are close behind with an expected 11 million pounds of chips to be consumed on Sunday, as well as an estimated 4 million pounds of pretzels and 2.5 million pounds of nuts.
if past Super Bowl weekends are indicative of anything, Americans will drink 50 million cases of beer this weekend.

Judy, I have a 6 qt instant pot. I haven't used it a lot since I got it, but the turkey are really quite moist and quick to cook. I have friends who use theirs all the time to make rice, beans (from dried) and hard boiled eggs.
I also cooked 3 large chicken breasts in it and they were also done in about 20 minutes. Those I shredded for tacos.

No Super Bowl Sunday to watch here...no TV networks. I do have a TV but no cable service or even local TV. If I were to watch it I would be up in the middle of the night (I think) to do so.
As for the food eaten - YIKES! - The first thought I had (after doing Veganuary) was that for 3+ million wings to be eaten 1.5+ million chickens had to die. Not to put anyone off but...oh my! I am not sure I have ever attended a Super Bowl Party so have no idea what I would serve. We do have a lot of ripe avocados right now so definitely guacamole but when I make that it is usually just mashed avocados, lemon juice and a bit of salt with homemade salsa of onion, garlic, tomato and green pepper and cilantro on the side... can mix together or eat separately.

Good grief, I had no idea that much food was consumed on Super day!! I bet today is the day that lots of New Year's resolutions go out the window.
Cathy, maybe you could watch the game on your computer. I really enjoy the commercials. I don't give a hoot about the game, just fun to do.

I'm not interested in football, so seldom watch the game. Sometimes I'll turn it on and just check the scores and watch some of the commercials. When DH was alive we would watch sometimes. He liked watching more than I do, so I would only half watch. Sometimes I would make chili and we'd have some potato or taco chips and salsa but not many other snacks. I have been to a few Super Bowl parties but we ladies didn't usually watch the game as intently as the guys did.

Jan, thanks for the info about the pressure cooker and other ideas for what can be cooked in it. I'd be sold in a minute if they could be used for canning, but apparently, at least at this time, they are not reliable for that. From what I read, stove top pressure cookers have a consistent cool down/steam release time and temp, but the electric ones do not...and that cool down and release part of process is important to making sure the food is safe.
Super bowl - I'll watch some. Mainly for the commercials, I admit. We won't be going any where or having anyone over. I have to say, I don't think I've ever seen so many avocados in the stores (I went grocery shopping yesterday), even in previous years.

No interest here either, but DH goes to a friend's to watch. I didn't know the actual statistics (thanks, Jan!), but did know that a lot of crap is eaten, so I volunteered to send chili with him. I put it up in the crock pot last night (actually, I loaded the crock pot and DH turned it on low when he went to bed, several hours after I turned in) and I turned it off this morning. I haven't tasted it (too early for food...), but DH is going to go out to buy sour cream and "regular" shredded cheese and tortillas to accompany the chili. It's a vegetarian chili and I improvised by checking a few recipes specifically for slow cookers. I used three 15-oz cans of beans (black, navy and great northern), about a cup (plus some more) frozen corn, 1 15-oz can of diced tomatoes that had been prepared in some fancy fashion that included some kind of black specs (roasted maybe?), about 2 tsp of chili pepper, I diced two red peppers and 1 medium onion, and added about 3 T of minced garlic. I'm pretty sure that's everything. All into the crock pot, set on low for 6 hours. I'll taste it before leaving to teach Sunday school this morning and let you all know how it turned out.

Wow to the stats on food eaten. I’m watching the game and commercials. Food has been planned and tracked.
