Back from our jaunts and happy to say my hair looks great. Scheduled another appointment for 3/6 for a cut and color. By then I'll need it.
Traffic was horrible!!!!! I guess the 'wintry mix' that they are saying caused a lot of people to rush out. It was a ZOO at BJ's!
Sorry for no personals. I'm exhausted!

Wow, I am shocked that traffic was so bad, Ann. This wintry mix is supposed to be gone overnight. LOL People are sheep, I guess, and panic about that stuff. Glad you are looking spiffy! Worth the aggravation, I'll bet. There is no "weather" to speak about yet.
Pam, dealing with insurance companies for health related reasons and with cell phone companies are both so frustrating at times. I can only imagine your tribulations with all this stuff. Hope it all gets figured out so you can relax about it. You are another one who gets a lot done! I am amazed when I hear about your chores. I chuckled about seeing if your DH was breathing. I do the same thing since mine is always up at the crack of dawn! He has taken to enjoying naps more than he used to, though. He never took a nap until recent years. I have always loved them even as a young person!
I'll have to get crackin' to get ready for the book club but very glad I have Friday off. I decided not to stress it if possible. We always have fun no matter what.

Lol Judy all they have to say is wintry mix and people flock to stores.
Right now it is pouring here. I can hear it hitting the windows and the wind is picking up.
I shall skip my weight watcher meeting and weigh in as usual on my wii.
I took a nap and feel well rested. Happy to be home and happier that I can stay home tomorrow!
Sleep well all.

Hey all. Happy Thursday and the last day of the work week for me as I am off tomorrow.
I'll grocery shop tonight to do the Seafood Au Gratin baked casserole I am making for the book club ladies. Then tomorrow, I'll have plenty of time to tidy up and get the table and food ready.
There was some ice on the trees today but our roads were just wet and it was an easy ride in. I think if we were further north (like you, Ann), it would have been a different matter. My CT friend at work said it was all rain for her until she hit the Sturbridge, MA area. So, we dodged yet another storm.
Sue, I hope that you are not without power or having any storm related issues. I'll bet the parents of all the preschoolers in your program are ready to have school start. LOL
I'll check in soon. Have a great day all. Lunch today is vegetable soup and a half a sandwich. TTFN

Good Morning!
I was up and out early this morning to clean church with my altar society group. It didn't take long, so I was back before 9:00 for a breakfast of coconut yogurt, blueberries & a little flax/chia blend. I am not sure what lunch will be as I am headed into BTR for an Alzheimer's Volunteer Appreciation luncheon. It is at a seafood restaurant, so I am hopeful it will be plan-compatible. Tonight, DH and I both have meetings--revitalization stuff for him, Catholic Daughters for me--so we will have leftovers for dinner. There's lots of ham left, so I may have some in a salad, depending on what transpires at lunch.
Judy - I'm glad you escaped the worst of the ice storm. Your seafood au gratin sounds delish.
Ann - I hope your absence this morning doesn't mean a power outage!
Sue - It sounds like the powers that be may need to plan for more snow days in the future. The weather patterns are definitely changing along with the climate, so it seems plans will need to change, too. It becomes very difficult when people don't get paid, through no fault of their own. All the struggling to find child care so parents can get to work is stressful. I was blessed to have my mom close and retired when my kids were small. She was able to fill in when needed, although for us, it was usually hurricane-related weather. Bills still have to be paid, no matter the weather.
We are likely to set heat records again today. It is partly sunny and already 71 degrees. The storm front will be moving in this afternoon and temps will drop to the 40's tomorrow. It is a pain having to keep both summer and winter clothes handy, but the past couple days have been a welcome break from the cold, rainy weather.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi all. Everything has melted here. Judy happy this is your Friday. Enjoy your hosting the book club
Pam hope all insurance issues worked out well for you.
Our lights flicked a few times as we had some resetting to do this morning.
I just finished making meatloaf and meatballs.
Going to sit and read for a bit. Just downloaded Cuts Like A Knife by MK Gilroy. I forget who mentioned it to me. So far so good.
Take care.

Good morning all. Right now our temps are above freezing and it's sprinkling out there. I'll take my walk indoors today. We heard from Bonnie last night and she invited us over either tonight or tomorrow for dinner. It will be nice getting together with her. We had her over the other night and it was good. She does spend time with her daughters so she really isn't alone too often.
Yesterday I just couldn't get out of my own way. Just a very low energy day. It happens. I puttered around and kept myself amused.
Wishing AWF a wonderful Friday and will CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! We had high temps yesterday (mid-50s) and then a huge drop overnight, waking to 18 dg with a predicted high of 18 for today; so dropping all day. We have gusty winds and the wind chill is below zero. Sheez ..... here we go again......
Anyway, my week at school was very challenging. Monday the kiddos were back after a week and a half off. Tuesday we were starting to settle into a routine, then we were off again on Wednesday. Thursday was just a zoo in every one of my classes. To say I was tired at the end of the day would be an under-statement.
DH and I had our Turkey 3-Bean Chili for supper last night and it was even better having sat in the fridge overnight. Since we ate early, we indulged in a snack of Skinny Pop last evening. Since there was nothing on TV we wanted to watch, we ended up going to bed early (before 9) and I took my Kindle and read for half an hour which was plenty to lull me off to sleep.
My hairdresser/GF called last night to tell me, sadly, that we couldn't go out for lunch today. Seems the ice storm on Wednesday caused some postponements and now her Friday is over-booked. I will miss that quiet one-on-one time with her, but I will be there again in just five weeks.
I talked to DBIL today and he had been to see the lung doctor Monday who he liked very much. His belief is that the Amiodarone caused his most recent symptoms (which we all thought also). He is going back in a month to see him, as he is still on oxygen (though he is down to 2 liters). His cardiology appointment was cancelled due to the ice on Wednesday. He sounded good on the phone. He has met with Social Services and they have him finally formally signed up for Meals-On-Wheels. He is happy with their service. She also discussed some other options available to him (like house cleaning services) which I hope he looks into. We are planning to get up there to see him this weekend.
We have a dinner out with my VBF and her DH tonight. We are meeting at one of our favorite (small, cozy) Italian eateries not too far away. I am looking forward to it very much!!
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue you are experiencing the same weather changes that we are. Today it's up to 45. I did get out to take a short hood walk and it felt good being out in the fresh air. It feels colder as we have no sunshine. At least it's not raining and we don't have any wind. I'll take it.
Sorry about not being able to get together with you friend. Enjoy your Italian dinner tonight. Sounds like a great place. Also happy to hear that DBIL is sounding better. I shall continue to keep him in my prayers.
Pam do send some of that tropical weather out way...we could use it. I did see a few robins and a cardinal this morning. Bet they wish they hadn't flown so soon LOL.
Judy how is DSIL doing? Have you heard anything more from her?
Time for me to grab another coffee, curl up in my recliner and read a bit. I have my veggie bean soup in the crock pot as I type. I'll have a bowl of that later on today.
Take care all and talk tomorrow.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday!! We have a beautiful sunny day outside but it is very cold (at 11 dg) and a high of only 24. I am headed downstairs to do a mini-work-out with my Power Rider and stationary bike. This will be my third day in a row, and I am hoping to work up to a longer one. I am just not going to try to walk outdoors in this cold and with the ice still on the ground. I have been very diligent with tracking and meal planning and it is starting to show.
Ann ~ Congrats!! On your milestone!! I totally agree about going out and no points involved. This definitely calls for a celebration. Thanks for keeping DBIL in your prayers. I am a big believer in the power of prayer too.
Pam ~ I am so very jealous of your temps. But I have to remember that we will get our turn – at least that is the plan <LOL> You are staying busy, as usual. I love reading about all your activities. Hope the seafood lunch was a success. How is your ankle??
Judy ~ Hope your Book Club dinner went off without a hitch- and mostly that you got to enjoy it!! Your Seafood Au Gratin sounded wonderful (I am a seafood lover). You were so smart to take Friday off to get ready. I love entertaining when I have adequate time to plan for it, and to thoroughly enjoy it.
We had a wonderful dinner out last evening. This restaurant is part of the Joe Bologna chain but it is very small and cozy. It only opens at 4 p.m. and closes around 10 or 11. They don’t take reservations, but usually tell us if we arrive before 7 there shouldn’t be a problem. We arrived at 6:30 and our friends were already there. We all had something entirely different and it was all delicious. I had Baked Ziti with mozzarella and it was wonderful. I even brought some of mine home. DH had a pizza with BBQ chicken and bacon and I forget what all else, but he ate up the whole thing (it was dinner plate size).
We have made plans to go see DBIL today. I called him to check times and he does have an afternoon appointment for taxes – but said he’d be done by 5 p.m. So we are planning to go to QDOBA about 3 and eat a late lunch/early supper there, then make the long drive to DBIL’s. I want to stop on the way and get him some SF baked treats. Since he has been diagnosed with diabetes and put on insulin and checking his blood sugar, I think it would be good to introduce him to some of the world of sugar-free. He also asked for some popcorn, and we have part of a box of Smart Pop packets so I am taking them.
That will pretty well fill up our day. I had a HB egg and a cup of NSA red grapefruit for breakfast, and plan to make a Fit Miss protein drink with unsweetened almond milk for lunch. I have already tracked everything and will have some SP left over this evening.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Good morning All!
Well our balmy temps dropped 30+ degrees between Thurs. and Fri. and it is now a cloudy 39. Tomorrow we will be back up to 70. Our winter weather is full of ups and downs.
Yesterday I did a few more small tasks that I have been putting off. I have completed at least 15 different nagging tasks, but sad to say, DH's medical bills was not one of them. I did manage to sort through some of the old stuff and have a stack to either shred or burn. I also got Madison and Leah's Valentine stuff packed and mailed to them. Part of it was Valentine paper plates (M loves to eat on holiday plates) and a Valentine t-shirt for Leah and ballet-style skirt with hearts for Madison. I wanted them to be able to wear their finery before the actual holiday, if they want.
We had hamburgers for dinner and then headed to town for Jude's basketball game. They are very much out-classed by the large BTR Catholic schools and always lose, so we try to concentrate on his skill-building. He played good defense, but his teammates rarely (successfully) passed to him on offense, so no scoring opportunities. He was bothered that they didn't pass to him and I reminded him that some of that might be due to his being a lowly 7th grader playing on the 8th grade team, lol. Anyway, he is learning basic skills which will serve him well in the future.
DH is almost finished taping and floating the sheetrock in the bedroom which means he will soon begin the sanding process and I will be struggling to keep the resulting dust under control in the rest of the house. He has plastic to put over the door and I have plenty of AC filters ready.
Tonight, we're planning to have Abby for a sleepover. Jude has another basketball game this afternoon and we will bring her back home with us. We are planning spaghetti for dinner and popcorn and a movie for later. She has been begging for a sleepover, so will be excited, I'm sure.
Sue - I'm happy to hear DBIL is doing better and that he is making use of available services. My ankle is much better. It's been 2 weeks and most of the tenderness in my calf muscles has healed. I still have some pain in the ankle joint itself and still get some swelling in the P.M. after being up and walking on it all day, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel. You reminded me that I do have a recumbent exercise bike, so I may try that today and wait a few more days before attempting a long walk.
Ann - Congratulations on a BIG milestone! Definitely, get your party on and don't stress about the points/calories.
Judy - We are waiting patiently for a party update. Hopefully, the prep and festivity hasn't totally worn you down.
Have a great day all!

We are back home and had a fantastic Italian meal at Teresa's Restaurant.....not that far from us. It was a nice day for a nice ride. Started off with a cup of minestrone soup followed by a small antipasto salad and then we had chicken parm and a slice of garlic bread. We did end up taking quite a bit home LOL as the portions there even for lunch are HUGE.
Just ready now to get jammified and in my recliner....will enjoy a cup of coffee when I 'wake up' from a nap.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday!! We have another cold morning, but not unseasonably so it's to be expected.
Yesterday turned out very well. We got my car washed and went to Kroger where we found some NSA oatmeal raisin cookies for DBIL to take along with the microwave popcorn. We stopped at QDOBA for a late lunch/early supper on our way north. We had a great visit with DBIL who is up and around and much improved in every way and in good spirits. He seems to be returning to his old self which is relief for all of us. He sees the cardiologist on Wednesday which he is dreading, since this is the one who prescribed the Amiodarone in the first place. The lung doctor told him last week that his symptoms were (in his opinion) caused by the Amiodarone. It meshes with what he was told in the hospital (that though he had a lung issue with shortness of breath etc, he didn't have pneumonia) and the other symptoms of tiredness, clumsiness, dizziness, hand tremors, etc. His cardiac surgeon (who did his grafts and ablation back in November) had questioned why he was even on Amiodarone. I guess it's a good thing that he took himself to the hospital when he did. He still is on oxygen (though lower) and prescribed another month on prednisone for his lungs. Also the steroid is raising his blood sugar, so he is on insulin (which he wasn't prior to hospitalization) but as his blood sugar readings are getting better, he hopes to be off that soon as well. He is taking advantage of every service offered to him (within his comfort level) and seems very much in control of his own fate.
We have a quiet day on tap. DH's VBF is out of town so we won't be meeting him for lunch. We were invited to go on this road trip, but declined. Now I'm glad I'm at home. We'll go out for lunch then come back home.
I am headed downstairs to spend a few minutes on my Power Rider and exercise bike, then getting dressed. We had Bagel Thins for breakfast with HB egg; and I am leaning toward a salad for lunch. Tonight will be leftovers from the fridge.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Good evening!
Sue - I know you and DH were much relieved to see DBIL in person and know he is doing so much better.
Ann - Chicken Parmesan is what I usually order when eating Italian out. So delicious!
Jude played much better yesterday afternoon, scoring 4 points, getting rebounds and playing good defense. He seemed much happier after the game even though they lost by a large margin. At least they had 20 points on the board this time.
We brought Abby home with us and she had a great time. We played Barbie, did puzzles, watched tv and had popcorn. She fell asleep watching YouTube Kids on my iPad and I carried her off to bed. This morning we went to Mass and she decided to come with me in the choir loft, instead of sitting with DH. She wasn't TOO squirmy, lol. After services, we went to coffee call and had breakfast. She was excited to see her godmother/speech therapist and gave her a big hug. We spent the rest of the day playing baby dolls, taking a walk and picking wildflowers, swinging and wandering around the yard. She watered all my outdoor plants, her shoes, her pants, etc. We did grocery shopping and brought her home.
I made my version of fried chicken (boneless, skinless and lightly floured), mashed potatoes and peas for dinner. DH cleaned the kitchen for which I am grateful. DGD wore me out!
Tomorrow, I am bringing DSIS' VBF to an eye doctor appointment in BTR, which will take up the middle of the day. I hope to get laundry done before and after. Our planned trip to San Antonio which was to be Tuesday - Friday is postponed until the week after. The friend (DH's "adopted sister") we were to visit called today and asked that we delay as she is on jury duty for the next few days for a "very messy" trial. I can't wait to hear the details on that.
I am going to get into jammies and read a while. I am really enjoying Highlander, much more than I thought I would.
