A little about mindful eating.
• Practice acceptance. Be aware of critical or judgmental thoughts about food, your eating habits and your body. Concentrate on the moment. Accept your body as it is.
• Make a conscious decision to eat. Before you eat, ask yourself, “How hungry am I right now? Am I eating out of hunger, habit, boredom or emotion?”
Are you critical of yourself about food, eating habits and your body? Do you have trouble accepting your body as it is?
Do you check to see how hungry you are? How about deciding why you're eating and if it is because of other things?

Sometimes I accept my body as it is, other times I look at myself in the mirror and think how did I let myself get like this!
There are lots of times I ask myself if I'm really hungry or if I just want something because it is good, or just because I want something to munch on. Sometimes I give in but other times I can resist.

Are you critical of yourself about food, eating habits and your body? When younger I used to be. Now I am thankful my body does what it does.
Eating habits...sometimes look at them and wonder why I haven't made the changes I talk about making...but it is what it is and I am who I am...I don't often think about my body unless I happen to be in front of a mirror. When that happens I realize I am older physically than I feel mentally AND my body resembles that of my mother's than what I think of in my mind's eye. And when I see myself in the mirror and say am rubbing lotion into my skin I don't hate on my body...nope...I love it and say nice things...caress and love my body (maybe too much information) and it makes me feel better for some reason.
Do you have trouble accepting your body as it is? Not really...it will never be young again...
Do you check to see how hungry you are? Sometimes...not always...and sometimes I eat even if not hungry.
How about deciding why you're eating and if it is because of other things? Again, sometimes and even when aware I may eat or not eat but I am aware of why I am eating when I do check in.

My body image when I was younger was terrible. I was always so critical of how I looked. Now, I am old, my body looks like a melting candle, and I'm ok with that. I am just more concerned about my health than anything else.
My eating habits are certainly not the best, I get very upset with myself when I overeat on some things. Once I get started, it is hard for me to stop. I think it is a self-sabotaging thing.
If I only ate when I was hungry, I don't think that I would have a weight problem.

Are you critical of yourself about food, eating habits and your body? I do a pretty good job of eating well & choosing healthful foods but like so many things, always feel I should do even better.
Do you have trouble accepting your body as it is? In younger years, I often felt too tall and clumsy. Now, my thoughts are about keeping my body healthy and well cared for, not so much the outside appearance.
Do you check to see how hungry you are? I try to keep this in mind at all times. I try to be especially aware when I know I'm likely to be more likely to eat from emotion (of course, that's exact same times it's hard to remember to check in with hunger signals...A work in progress!)
How about deciding why you're eating and if it is because of other things? Yes, I do sometimes absolutely admit to myself that I'm not necessarily hungry, but I'm going to eat anyway. I think even realizing that has value!

Are you critical of yourself about food, eating habits and your body? Rarely am I critical of myself about much at all, certainly not about food or my eating or my body...
Do you have trouble accepting your body as it is? Nope.
Do you check to see how hungry you are? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I have an imbalance in my blood chemistry; if I don't eat every 3 or so hours, I'm in trouble, so there are times I eat because it's time to eat. I don't stuff myself, however.
How about deciding why you're eating and if it is because of other things? I usually know when I'm eating because of emotional upset. And I generally give myself permission to have one more cookie when I'm emotional...

Are you critical of yourself about food, eating habits and your body? Do you have trouble accepting your body as it is? I am critical about all three of those things as I am the one responsible for the choices that I make. However, I don't seem to have the energy or (?) to change. Do you check to see how hungry you are? Most of the time, but sometimes I find myself eating because it is a certain o'clock and society says that is when you are supposed to eat.

I work hard to use positive self talk. I know how far I’ve come and keep that before me. Thanks for hosting us this week Cherry.
