Morning All!
Penny hope you are on your way back to GA. Can’t imagine what a relief it will be for you not to worry about things like heat, running water and such. Hopefully you will get the down time you need to recoup for the next round of your endeavors.
Marilyn glad to hear DD got home safely.
Yesterday niece and I had a good day of shopping. Found most of what I needed at Michaels and Joann’s was an adventure in learning about fabrics. I wanted to find some fake leather to use on a sofa I plan to build, but the fabric was too thick and would not bend sufficiently to tuck where I needed it to tuck. I found some vinyl (look like leather) tablecloth material after I’d finished shopping that might work at a later date. Did find some synthetic suede though and bought a half yard of that to give it a try. In all the videos I’ve seen about upholstered furniture, no one mentions the best kinds of fabric to use. Guess if I play enough with it, maybe I can do that. Before I went out though I did look at the lazy boy web site. I copied some pictures of basic couches they sell and they also give the measurements, which means I can make them to scale, 1” = 1 ft. I’m working on my first side chair now off a template that was given on You Tube. I figured out that most hobbyists just keep trying things out until they get it right, so that’s the plan of attack.
Well the cleaning lady will be here soon and Lily is off to the groomer after that. This morning I have a landscaper coming to give me a price in dumping dirt and grading my back yard. I need to discuss logistics of how and when and what to do about reseeding. Sod is too expensive, so it will have to be a gradual growth process. Timing will be important as it’s the year I have to have the septic cleaned and I need some tree work done as well. I guess everything will get sorted out time wise eventually.
Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Happy Day All!
Not a good day yesterday. DH now has a significant blockage in his other leg/femoral artery. It’s not to the point he must get it, or the other leg, catheterized, but is getting there. They told him to get one of those pedal gizmos he can put in front of his chair and work up to 30 minutes per day. We’ll do that when we get to GA.
The music person from the church is coming to play the piano today. I don’t know if he plans on having it picked up or not, but if he wants it, they’ll get it today or tomorrow. Between the two – this and DH’s leg, plus having to go into town twice yesterday and see devastated places I hadn’t seen before, I cried almost all afternoon and evening off and on. I know God won’t give me more than I can handle, and I can handle all this, but it sure is tough. Then my neighbor up the street came over (she’s going to take my desk) and got to crying herself telling DH about finding our neighbor’s body in the water when he committed suicide after the storm. He tied an anchor around his neck and waded out into the water. Wow, what a day it was.
Today I’m going to take half an anxiety pill before the piano guy comes so I don’t blubber all over him! Am also going to clean out the drawers of the desk so she can pick it up whenever she wants. Also have to finish up a few organizing things to go to GA. We hope to get everything in town done by tomorrow and we WILL leave on Saturday. At least we’ll be able to see some whole trees! That’s a good thing.
Lin - I would absolutely love to spend my day describing a really old dentist chair! You made me smile with that one!
Sorry to be such a downer today, it’s just what came out. Thank you all for being there.
Cheers...

Good morning Dayle & ATF,
Cloudy currently and 41; the high for today will be 50.
Today I need to clean a little. My boys are coming for a sleepover on Saturday. Their parents are going into New York for the evening. I'll do the bathroom, vacuum floors and dust in the living room.
I had a good time at the senior center yesterday and I managed to crochet a lavender hat for a new born. I brought the yarn home and maybe I will get another or 2 done by Monday.
So sorry to hear about the day you had yesterday. It will get better and prayers for your DH.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning All
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETTY - Hope you enjoy whatever happens today.
Penny - You and DH please give each other a big hug. Those hugs are from me for what you are each going through. Hope the piano and desk both leave today and tears are usually helpful.
I'm off to run errands and the usual Publix stop.
Everyone make this as Good a day as possible.

Penny, glad you felt that you could vent here and cry if you needed to. You certainly have enough to cry about. Hope everything works out with the piano and desk.
Dayle nice that you had a good shopping with your niece.
Snowing again here. The snow guy is working on the driveway but he doesn't always do the patio and that's where Ozzie goes out to do his business.
Think I'll take all my snowmen down today and put my flower plates back up. Maybe that will encourage spring to come.
About time to fix breakfast. Thinking about you Penny.

Penny, what a day you had yesterday. So sorry, enough already! How do they go about resolving DH issue? Good idea about the anti-anxiety pill. There’s only so much a person can take. Your neighbor’s suicide is a terrible thing. Prayers for him and his family. Hugs for you and DH.
Betty J, Happy Birthday! Hope you get to do something extra special you enjoy.
Lily is gone, house is too quiet. The cleaning lady is missing her….

Good morning,
Penny- prayers are with you. So much going on. I hope the piano goes to the church today or tomorrow so you can rest your mind about it. The pedal exercise thing probably will help hubby's legs a lot. My mom had one she used to keep legs circulating. Saturday will be a good day for a relaxing ride to the cabin.
Dayle- I love hearing about your miniature poject
Betty - happy birthday
Today is ww meeting. I think I gained again. Super bowl munchies and junk food in the house while daughters were here.

This is pretty much a comparison of the whole county. Is not my road, but is in town.

Update - the church is not taking the piano. Their minister of music said I really should try to sell it before donating it, and that I should be able to get a goodly amount for it. So, here it stays for a while anyway. The contractor has picked up some foam and will come out this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon to wrap it.
It was wonderful to hear him play it. I even played a bit before he got here, and had to get my music out of the storage trailer in the front yard. Boy, am I rusty! Heart and Soul sounded pretty good though!
Thanks again to you all for putting up with my whines!

Sorry the piano is not going to the Church, know you were hoping to still "see" it. I think it is good that you can cry and feel tears are very good for getting rid of stress when it just gets to be too much. We have local flood warnings up for today and that is not a surprise as we have areas that always flood when we get too much rain at one time. It is 60° out there and not bad at all. Went to lunch with my friend that is going on vacation for 3 weeks. We had our favorite veggie pizza and a side salad. I did bring part of my salad home, pretty big for a side salad. With lot of fixings that I like. tomatoes are not very good this time of year so did pick the one little piece out of it.
Happy Birthday BettyJ. Hope you have a great day.
I really do need a grocery run soon.!!
So sad to see the after pictures of those beautiful trees. Mother Nature sure can turn on us can't she.??

Penny, the photos really show what happened. To have to see the aftermath daily is awful and has to be incredibly hard on the psyche. That's a view, not your house or the beach or the neighbors, the personal part. . It's going to take a whole lot of tomorrows to being any sense of normalcy.
hb seems to be okay. Extra vigilance during this cold spell is in order. His caregiver was here this morning so I went to my quilting group. Unfortunately, I have to go back out this afternoon for an appointment at a the dentist which is on the far side of town. The temperature is only three degrees. On my way I'll stop and look at the rental that's a disaster. Eleven years of too many people, a cat, leaky water pipes make it a challenge. The subfloor has to be replaced, probably in the whole unit. That's just the beginning. It's doable, and I have someone competent to do the work which started yesterday. I don't know how long it's going to take or how much damage was under the vinyl and carpet, but it's a lot.
Happy birthday, Betty.

Penny, Penny, my heart is aching for you and the sad loss of everything green. Knowing how you love nature and appreciate all things natural, I can understand how much looking at it must hurt. That's why you are so fortunate to have Georgia to escape to.
A project maybe to consider. You have pictures of what your home and its surroundings looked like pre hurricane Michael. I think you should go around and take pictures of how it is now. It might seem sad to do, but take them and put them away for a year. Next year at this time, take them out and see how much progress has been made, the changes (maybe for the better) that have happened. Keep a chronicle of the transformations and other good things that are happening. Though the damage you see now seems so overwhelming, it might be helpful to see how places, people and the good green earth have triumphed again so to speak. You are a good photographer, so you should be able to do this easily. When its done, however many years you spend doing it, donate your pictures, observations to the town or community, making an archive of an important historic event. Just a thought. Something you would be really good at.
As far as the piano, fate is telling you its just not time to say goodbye yet. You've had so much loss lately, hold onto something that's so important to you for the present. When the time is right, you will know it.
I originally sat down to send a note and got caught up in everyone's day to day. I'm excited to say that I have been working on my first upholstered chair and you know what, it almost looks like a chair! This is exciting news! I didn't want to stop working, but Lily was back from the groomer and angry that I wasn't paying any attention and my hands were starting to fuse up from working with all "those little parts". Any way I should finish it off tomorrow and will post it so you can see. This stuff is really fun!

Wow. Penny, what a day. Hope dh is all right and gets pedaling. have you tried donating the piano to a high school? They usually like them in auditoriums.
fitnessgoat.com/best-pedal-exercisers/. This goes through criteria they used to judge and what ti look for.
Cleaner here today...my back would never keep up with that kind of activity. Mixed up salt, vinegar and Dawn and sprayed it on the weeds that became huge in three days! Hope it works as I really do not want to use Roundup and digging them out got ahead of me. Then it was three loads of laundry, bakery, TJ's, Safeway and the bookstore to drop a used book for credit (gifts, new or used books). Walked dog and saud enough! It was only 1:00.
