• Reserve time for your meal. Don’t eat on the run. If you’re eating with others, involve them in preparing the food to make that time social.
• Avoid distractions while eating. Eat at a table. Turn off the TV and put away your phone, work, books and magazines until you are done.

I don't eat on the run...usually...since I am usually at home.
As for distractions? I often eat while reading a book. I know we are not supposed to BUT it is company.

• Reserve time for your meal. Don’t eat on the run. If you’re eating with others, involve them in preparing the food to make that time social. I frequently eat lunch in the car on my way between one appointment and another... And I don't like having other people in the kitchen while I'm preparing a meal; it feels to me like they get in the way. DH does love having someone else working alongside him in the kitchen, so this is not something about which we feel the same way...
• Avoid distractions while eating. Eat at a table. Turn off the TV and put away your phone, work, books and magazines until you are done. No can do. As I said above, I'm often driving from one place to another at meal time, and it's often that dinner is in front of the TV. Breakfast during the week is often on the go too; services start at 7:30 weekday mornings and more often than not, I prepare either oatmeal or eggs in a mug to eat in the car on my way...

I don't eat on the run since I am usually home and don't have any appointments during a meal time.
As far as distractions, I usually do eat at the table without TV or anything. I reserve my TV watching until at least 8:00 pm. I have the shows I watch recorded and usually I'm a week or so behind the episode. I do, for the most part, have my dinner using real dinnerware. For lunches and some breakfasts I often use paper plates. Occasionally if I'm not hungry at dinnertime, I'll postpone eating and just snack later. Then I'll perhaps watch in front of the TV.

We eat 95% of our meals at the kitchen table. I only set up the dinning table when we have company. We don't always eat without distractions. DH is often watching something on his phone. The tv is often on in the background, not too distracting since it is in another room.

Most of the time I don't eat on the run, except today, I will eat lunch in my car as I drive to the food bank. Otherwise, lunch would be at 11am ! A bit to early for me.
But, I do eat in front of the TV. Being single, that is just where I have ended up eating my meals. But, I do try to be mindful of chewing and putting down my fork between bites.

Well... I'm sitting here in front of the computer, eating yogurt. I have to admit that I rarely set aside a time to simply eat. My first breakfast at work is usually eaten while I'm catching up on e-mail or doing on-line orders for food or supplies. Break at work, mid morning - again, usually end up checking phone, reply to outside-of-work things as needed. And now, I'm home from work and, as I said, eating while I type. When my husband gets home, evening meal will be in front of the news on TV.
Wow - I really had not considered there's hardly anytime that I just eat...nothing else going on.

Interesting question. Usually guilty of distracted eatng. I plan ahead so know what I’m eating. Food is always secondary. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
