TOOT! TOOOOT! CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville down the track and into your station, so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
This morning it was 0º (feels like -10º) and going up to 22º and partly cloudy with winds W 5-10 mph. We have a wind chill advisory until 12:00 PM today.
Today the girls will be in school. MJ and Sarah are getting a ride to school thanks to a friend, and he plans to stay for the spelling bee Sarah is in. They had a preliminary spelling bee earlier in the week and Sarah took first place in that. Last year in the finals she took third place and was the youngest to place.
I will be at home with the dogs to keep me company since we still don’t have a car.
I’m reading a Trixie Belden book, by Kathryn Kenny, titled The Mystery of the Emeralds. I’m enjoying this one as much as the first one in this series.

Good morning Doris & ATF,
Rain again today. Currently 42; the high for today will be 53. We are expecting another cold wave to come thru but not as bad a s last time.
Going food shopping this morning and then finishing up cleaning. Got a lot done yesterday.
Tonight I'm going to bingo, the first time this year.
Have a great day.

Emily,
I hope the cold wave that is coming won't be too bad. Its frigid here and a good day to stay inside and keep warm.
Have fun at bingo tonight - I hope you are a big winner.

Good luck to Sarah with the spelling bee. and Lots of luck to Emily at Bingo. Know that can be a lot of fun even if you don't win but hope you do.
It is 26° with lot of wind and some really big gusts. I took part of my neighbor's down spout over to his yard by the house as it was in the middle of my front yard and those things are so light they can fly. Would be all the way down the hill by the time he got home from work tonight. My weather App says snow in an hour.
I decided to go to the library after all for the book they are holding for me. It's just a quick trip.
Janet Evanovich Have the latest for you,Doris. I don't know if you checked the reading thread this week or not but this is the new book. I have read these also and they are fun.

Connie,
You are a good neighbor to take their downspout back to their house instead of letting the wind blow it away.
If you get snowed in you'll probably be glad you went to the library for that book.

Hi! It was 15º this morning, but is to be 30º later on. We'll see. This morning, DH asked for pancakes and sausage, so that is what we ate for breakfast. I'm not sure if we'll even want lunch! And I don't have a plan for dinner, yet, either. This morning, we got a load of laundry done, we've both done our in-house walking, and I had a long conversation with my aunt. She is 95 and still loves in her own house. I always enjoy talking with her. Later today, DH will pick up the kids from school, then after their snacks, DGS and I will read a little while together. And that is all that is planned for the day. Oh, I do plan on a nap this afternoon. I got up at 5:30 and am already feeling tired.
Doris, I hope the mechanic reports on the car today. With a good report.
Have a happy day! Stay warm!
Diane

Dave was the caller for the county spelling bee for several years after he retired from teaching and he enjoyed it. They always had to write the word and there were spell checkers so it took longer. He also had to make the lists from a standard list.
Today is still is only +11 out there. What always surprises me is after awhile you get used to the cold and 11 without the wind didn't even seem so cold. I went to the Y and picked up some groceries, but taking a deep breath almost takes your breath away making me cough. I wonder if son John biked to work. He likes challenges too.

Helen,
I'm sure Dave was disappointed in the spelling bee at Sarah's school. MJ said there were words that were not on the list they were given to study and that may be why it was over so soon. I'm sure there were a lot of disappointed kids. Sarah had never heard of the word she was given and was really disappointed to be eliminated right away. Last year it seemed to be much better organized.
I haven't been outside, but it sure feels cold when we open the door to let the dogs out in the yard.

Dave wasn't really disappointed, he just realized it was different than how the county bees were done and he said he saw some really nice things as other friends comforted Sarah is such kind ways. In the end it's what the child learns and he saw real love.

Helen,
Thank you. We appreciate all you and Dave do for us. I'm glad he wasn't disappointed in the spelling bee, but it wasn't anything like the one they had last year where they allowed the kids more than just one chance. Sarah came in feeling very low, but I gave her a big hug and let her know I was proud of her.
