Four of the Wednesday group eventually found their way to Rosalie's yesterday. Rosalie showed me various dresses from Togo that we could use as patterns and we decided on one that I liked and fit and so we pinned and cut and then I sewed the seams...forgot to cut the curves so it is a bit wonky - I could remove the seams, cut and reseam BUT if ironing takes care of it and it fits and looks okay on...may not. The remaining fabric may become a headdress or belt or who knows what. I still have handwork to do but...that can be done another time.
It is cold and gloomy today - hope the internet allows talking to family this evening.
I need to tidy the kitchen so I can cook something later. We bought half a celery bunch...first time I have ever done that. NOW...what to do with the celery? I am thinking potato soup? We will see.
CHERRY: I wonder what makes some winters colder than usual? The weather here is not as wet or cold as some years...some years we have had snow but so far not this year. I am glad you are able to stay warm and that you will have a few days to enjoy your son when he comes to stay.
BEVERLY: It must be nice to have family living close by and to be able to actually see what they are doing. I kind of rely on Facebook to find out what my family is up to.
LYNN: Interesting about the service of five years post graduation from West Point...and also interesting about your marriage there. I did google (you know me...have to find out stuff) and found: www.westpoint.edu/admissions/careers Now wondering if the other branches of the service have a "West Point" as well. I did some more googling and found that "Academy" really means college and that there are other "colleges" for the other branches of the service...off to google some more
PAM: I hope you were able to make it to the grocery store! Do they deliver if the roads are dangerous for you to drive?

Hello...have much to do today...laundry, papers for retirement and put away groceries that are still in the car. DH will get them out after breakfast, which we haven't had yet.
I did not go to WI as I have so much to do. I will have plenty of time when I retire in two and a half weeks, so I am not worried.
Cathy, the dress is lovely and the material is lovely.
I will make one of the Blue Apron dinners for tonight. Bev, how do you like them? I will also prep some food a bit, so I have something for lunch during the week.
Have a restful Sunday all!

Good morning. To answer Beverly, all the houses up north are well insulated with fiberglass, cellulose, or other insulation in between the outside and inside walls and in the attic. It helps keep them warm in the winter and cooler in the summer.
It is lightly snowing again this morning. I can barely see it coming down, but I can't see more than a half or 3/4 mile. The hills are obscured. At least there is not much wind. It was 21 below just after midnight and is now 12 below. The wind chill is -30. Tomorrow it will warm up to barely above zero. Woohoo! (said with sarcasm)
I have dishes to wash this morning, since I didn't do them last night, and I'm going to wash some clothes today. And while I'm down in the basement I think I'll go through some boxes of stuff and find better places for things.
Have a good day, beaches.

Good morning friends,
A cool & rainy day here, so far, just light rain, hope it stays this way, as the streams & rivers here are at their flood stage already. One night, this past week, we got over 7" of rain in just a few hours. So many peoples' basements are flooded, since we don't have a basement & we live on a hill, we are ok.
Lynn, I like the Blue Apron dinners ok. Some of them are pretty spicy for our tastes. Our favorite one has been fried rice with pork. DS ordered me one of the weeks of the WW dinners, as you would expect, they weren't as good as the regular ones, but they came with all the pts info included. Sometimes, I just shorten the cooking instructions & make it the way I think it should be. All & all, they are pretty good. It is fun to try the new things. I have been to NY many, many times (even lived there for a very short time many yrs ago), but I have never visited West Point. Very interesting.
Not much planned for today, just a little straightening up. DS & DIL are out of town, so we will go over there later & take care of their dog. I also will clean out my fridge, there is still stuff in there from last Sunday's Super Bowl get together! I am going to cook something fresh today, not sure what, but something fresh. I think I am going to roast some potatoes & butternut squash, not sure what else. I made split pea soup in the crock pot yesterday (actually cooked it overnight the night before), I ate it for lunch yesterday & then again for dinner, so won't have anymore today. I will probably end up putting some in the freezer for later.
Hope everyone has a safe & happy day.
Waving to everyone!
