Hi all!
I made visits to my hospice patients this morning, the lady with 10 kids and my new patient, the father of a friend who has the most arresting blue eyes. One was very talkative and the other had very little to say, but he has Alzheimer's so I was not too surprised. Hopefully, he will talk more as he gets used to me.
This afternoon DH and I took Sadie & Callie in for their annual checkups and shots. Both were deemed healthy with no issues. We thought the vet might scold over Sadie's weight (10.2 lbs.) but she said it was normal for a spayed female of her size. Callie is a trim 7.2 lbs. They were both quite stressed at the whole ordeal and demonstrated their displeasure with lots of hissing and growling, but quickly forgave us after getting home and spending a few hours outside in the sunshine and fresh air. They are both napping on the couch now.
Judy - Congrats on the weight loss!
Time to head to choir practice.

Happy that Callie and Sadie got a clean bill of healthy from the Vet. I'm sure that the new patient will open up in time. Enjoy choir practice.
I accomplished a lot today. Now it's time for the recliner.

Happy Valentine's Day!
I enjoyed my beautification session last night with new highlights plus a cut and color. However, by the time I left the salon around 7:30 PM, I was shocked to see that a surprise snowstorm was upon us. The untreated roads had turned to "grease" and it was a treacherous ride home on the highway and then trying to get up a big hill leading to our town. The police had already closed off one hilly main road since so many cars were stuck. I took an alternate route but was stuck behind someone stopped on the hill. That's the worst! Couldn't get going again as my tires were spinning until i gained traction on the side of the road. It was a mess and the forecast told us it would be warming up with 40s and even 50s . They had it wrong. Sheesh! Nerve racking.
I am not going to yoga today because my lower back is sore. Not sure what I did but I am going to rest it a week. I don't want to do any further injury now. Instead I am headed to a little nearby diner with a co-worker. I am really in a mood for a burger, so we shall see. Haven't had one in ages. If I have one, I will be going very light on dinner. This plan IS doable if you plan, right?
Have a great day, and thank you all so much for such supportive comments about my DSIL.

Judy so sorry your night of beauty ended on a sour note! My friend that lives in Worcester experienced a similar disaster drive from visiting her cousin. Here, we didn't have anything like that. I hope your lower back feels better. It could just be from the tension while driving. We truly are a supportive group. Don't know what I'd do without you gals

Well,so much for a light dinner! DH wanted to take me out to dinner to our favorite Mexican spot. I ate about half of my combo platter of a cheese enchilada, beef taco and a chicken enchilada. I filled up fast and boxed half to bring home. Now we are relaxing watching Vera. I tracked everything for about 35 pts. Done and back on track. I’ve certainly had more caloric Valentine’s Days so I’ll let it go. Have a great night!

Good morning all. Judy I know just what you mean. After I went to weigh in all he!! broke loose with me candy pasta sausage garlic bread and cake! I'm going to 'turn the page' quickly and press that re-start button. I've yet to step on my wii but I shall. The number won't bother me, as I shall plan my food/drink as I sip my morning coffee. Wishing all a wonderful Friday

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! I am glad to be home today after a long day yesterday. I stayed after my shift to sub for a teacher who had to leave early. DH and I had agreed on Jet's Pizza (a real treat to us) for supper with a big salad. By the time I got home, he chopped the salad and I called in our pizza order. We got a new one (2 kinds of pepperoni/deep dish) and really enjoyed it!! We were glad we agreed to skip cards, as the price of two cards covered our pizza (AND we still have half in the deep freeze). All in all, we had a wonderful holiday!!
The up coming weekend promises to be busy. DH took me out for breakfast today (a rare treat for us) and in a little while we are headed to E. Lansing to pick up our MSU student for a lunch date. We haven't seen her for a while, and had to postpone one visit due to weather and one due to her work schedule; so we're all anxious to get together! It's a long drive, but at least our roads are clear today.
Judy ~ What a treacherous drive home you had! Glad everything worked out so well.
Ann ~ You're right about turn the page ..... I always think "today again I begin".
Pam ~ Yay for your fur kids clean bill of health. You'll do well with your new patient.
Tomorrow I am going to our favorite Tea House with my Red Hats group and am really looking forward to that. Sunday DH and I will have early lunch with his VBF then drive an hour to do a 4-hour presentation (on Conflict Management) which will end at 6 p.m. Don't know yet how we'll handle supper.
Monday and Tuesday are our Winter Break from school (as if we need it??) so I made my mammogram appointment for Monday morning. Tuesday I have left open deliberately for me to have some down time.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Good Morning!
Yesterday DH and I headed to BTR after lunch to see "They Shall Not Grow Old", an impressive documentary-style movie on British soldiers in WWI which was actually made from old documentary film. It was fascinating and afterwards there was a 30 minute clip on how they did it. Meticulous care was given to the authenticity.
After the movie, we went to Lowe's and picked out paint for the "new" bedroom--a soft, just-barely-there gray with blue undertones. I'm planning a dark blue and gray decor, but have zero decorating sense, so we will see.
We attempted a short stop at our fav local place for a beer, but with the Valentine's crowd already there, we changed our minds and headed to Super 1 for groceries. DH grilled a steak for me, burger for him and some zucchini. I made baked potatoes with light sour cream and a little shredded cheddar. It was delicious and we watched another WWI movie on Amazon (Journey's End) followed by something much lighter--Greenfingers. It is a British movie, based on real life, about a prison rehab program that turns criminals into award-winning gardeners.
Today, DH was sanding sheetrock again, so I was mopping again, lol. I will be so glad when this part is finished. He is trying to have it ready for the guy to come spray the texture sometime this weekend. It's a side job for him, so the times he can fit us in are limited to nights and weekends.
This evening, I will pick up Abby from daycare and stay with her and Anna until their dad gets home from work. DD1 & Jude are off to another basketball game in BTR. We are planning to have taco salad for dinner when I get home.
We had planned to go on a guided tour at Port Hudson tomorrow, which discusses the little-known history of the Native Guard, all black regiments that fought for the North in the Battle of Port Hudson. Unfortunately, the Mississippi River is flooding and it will probably be cancelled because the battle area is currently underwater. When I called this morning, they weren't positive, but pretty sure it will be rescheduled to sometime in May. Sunday, I have 6 people for baptism seminar at church.
Ann - I feel for you. My eating has been all over the place lately, as seems to happen when I get lax with tracking. I will "turn the page" with you.
Judy - Just reading about your ride home made me tense, so I can't imagine how wound up you were. Glad you made it safely home.
Sue - Your weekend sounds very busy! I know you will enjoy your time with your MSU student and the Red Hat Tea.

Hi all,
it it was nice to read all the news today!
Pam that movie/documentary about WW I sounded really interesting. Sorry it may be postponed. Hope you had fun with your DGD today. Your new bedroom sounds like it will be lovely. I love gray. It’s so peaceful for a bedroom. We are also busy choosing tile and bathroom fixtures. Our little lavatory is tiny so options are limited but it’ll look cute when done. The new sink is a pretty blue glass vessel. We have not chosen floor or wall tile yet.
Sue, my mouth us watering over that pizza! 🍕 I hope you enjoyed it. We ate leftover Mexican tonight. Tomorrow the plumber comes back to finish all the new pipe work. Big job to remove every single old cast iron pipe and replace with new material. Things are in a mess now but will get back to normal soon.
Ann hope you’re doing well. I need to get moving! My WW coach will not be pleased with me this week. Time to reset and move on.
Tomorrow ill I’ll be getting my eyebrows done using a Christmas gift card. Should be interesting and will take a few hours. I’d never spend this much on my eyebrows but appreciate the chance to bring them back and define them. Over the years, I think they were over waxed and age takes its toll! So if all goes well, no more eyebrow pencils.
Have a a great night all.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday!! We had a wonderful day yesterday. The weather, though cold, was beautiful with abundant sunshine. We had a great breakfast out and then went to The Outback Steakhouse in Okemos for late lunch.
We drove to E. Lansing and met up with our MSU student and her boyfriend. We got to meet her two new pets - guinea pigs named "Penny" and "Willow" (what!?!). She told me she is going to check out schools for her postgrad work over Spring break in a couple of weeks. I had hoped she'd stay at MSU, but it looks like she may be returning to Missouri for that. Sad, because we will miss seeing her as often as we want. On the brighter side, she will still be in Michigan until December, so we'll make the most of that time, and wait to see what the future brings. We had a great lunch and lots of fun conversation. She had a 2+ hour window between her two jobs which they spent with us. Worked out that he had a morning class which let out in time for him to join us as well.
Since we ate lunch in mid-afternoon, we didn't need supper. We each had a slice of lemon poppyseed loaf cake with some FF NSA ice cream mid-evening which was very good. I went over my SP some, but didn't break the bank, which is a good feeling.
I was up early today and we had our oatmeal with blueberries breakfast - YUM!! I will eat light at the Tea House and then we are having Strawberry Waffles with turkey sausage for supper tonight.
Pam ~ Your paint color for your "new" bedroom sounds beautiful! When we bought our condo, a good friend advised me to "paint it before you move in" and we did and we were never sorry! I got to pick the colors, and then DH seconded them. I told him I wanted a blue in our bedroom with some purple and grey undertones - and the one I found was exactly that!! Our room looks different shades in different seasons and different times of day. It is very restful as well as interesting.
Judy ~ Your pipe replacement job sounds enormous! I hope it did not interfere with your day-to-day life while they are working on it?? But you will really enjoy it when it is finished. Great about your eyebrows!
Ann ~ So sorry you have the sniffles! Take care of yourself and feel better real soon!!
I better go start getting dressed in red and purple. We have another COLD day so I will dress accordingly.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi
First I want to say sorry Pam! I did read your post carefully but mixed up the two events in the interval between when I wrote! Good grief- I meant to say that I’m sorry the Huron event may have been postponed not the WW I movie.
The expensive plumbing job was finished today. Now we need another handyman to do the bathroom project. My DH would have always done this smaller job on his own but he admitted he is just not up to it and is too tired since he’s working, too. So, we’ll get an estimate from a handyman my friends use. The plumber finished all his work in the bathroom so we just need to put in the new sink, tub and finish the walls and floor. It’s a teeny little bathroom.
I made a couple WW recipes tonight. A sautéed chicken with mushrooms and onions in a wine/chicken broth and some fingerling potatoes roasted with herbs and ebooks, I added baby peas done the British Way with onions in a skillet. Very good dinner.
I had my eye brows abladed today and I am so thrilled to have very natural full eyebrows! I go back in 6 weeks for my second treatment which will complete them and I’ll be good for a couple years. This anesthetist skilled person seems to have clients from all over the state. I am so happy with the results!!! Like I said, I’d never shell out so much $$ for it, but the gift card covered both appointments.
Ann, hope you feel better, too.
Sue, I chuckled at the guinea pigs and I’m glad you had fun with the kids! Your bedroom sounds lovely, too! You really know how to work the program effectively! I always get inspired by your meal comments and descriptions.
Have a good night all.
