This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

I really like the idea of this post. And I might steal that motto as my inspirational quote.
Today is my first day back to program. I'm going to recommit to this and stick with it. Go us!

It's Friday!! And yeah, it's early. I was sleeping like a baby and DH woke me up tossing and turning. I asked him what was wrong and he was complaining that he just couldn't sleep. I turned on the TV and put on some white noise programming on Amazon Prime, it's like 9 hours of gentle rain and thunder sounds and the tv screen is just dark (almost black). In about 10 minutes he was snoring and I was laying there wide awake listening to the tv rain. Sigh. Anyway, I'm excited to report that as long as the weather holds tomorrow morning we're going on a hike!! I've searched all the area trail sites and found one that's listed as "moderate" in difficulty and is either 2.4 miles or 4.8 miles...I'm not sure how they notate it...Lol I guess we'll find out. It's an "out and back" trail, which is just what it sounds like - you have a start point, hike to an end point and then turn around and come back the same way. It says it's a 2.4 mile out and back. But I'm not sure if this site notates the one way or the round trip. Different sites list that differently. I think we should be able to handle 4.8 if that's the case. Plus, the first half is up the mountain, so the return trip will be down hill so presumably easier. The trail takes you up to a waterfall, and should have some views of the valleys below. So hopefully the weather holds and I'll be posting some great pictures. Fingers crossed. I'm really, really looking forward to this. Also, all of the reviews I've read say there is lots of wildlife to be seen: deer, wild turkey, sometimes fox and the normal smaller critters as well. I'm squealing with glee on the inside

Holy smokes, Lora, I hope you got back to sleep! I totally understand your glee about hiking. Just reading about your plans for tomorrow made me so jealous - I'm going to have to look into those meetup hikes again when the weather warms up here and the snow is gone. I especially like hiking in early spring when there are no bugs and the sun reaches the ground because there are no leaves on the trees yet. Hopefully next month but definitely in April. I was looking longingly at my hiking leggings that I bought for last summer's adventure at your recommendation and I always think of you when I put them on.
Welcome Lorelei. Looks like you're an early riser! Oh, and you can see our names in our signatures below our posts.
I slept pretty well last night - I upped my magnesium dose and it seems to help both with that and with the digestive slow motion (ahem...) Feeling a lot better this morning and like I can tackle all the million things I have to do today, especially this morning to get ready for DD. Meanwhile DS called last night and their nanny called out today so he wanted me to come early and help with the kids - I'm going to have to tell him I can get there early this afternoon but not this morning since I have a list of errands to knock off in the AM. The weekend starts today and we have Monday off for Presidents Day so that is good as well.
Jana and Lora, I've been laughing about your parent stories about getting lost. Luckily, in some ways, my parents died before GPS came out. I know they would never have mastered it and with my father being hard of hearing, it would have been a disaster.
Jana, hope the DPs are managing in NC - good job on getting the reduced rate for the hotel. Please keep us posted on what's happening with DSister.
I'm off to meditate now. It will probably be my last 10 quiet minutes for the day. Have a good day all. I will check back in here as I can.

Good Morning ROs...have to get moving quickly since I have a gym class that starts in 40 minutes and DH has a neighborhood men's breakfast, then off to DH's PT, and on it goes...a women's neighborhood group, lunch with friends at 12:30 across town, and picking up DGS after school to keep while DS and DDIL go out to dinner.
Lora - keeping my fingers crossed for your hike and looking foward to some pics
Andi - yeah for the good night...have fun this weekend with all the grands!
Lorelei - welcome
OK...off and running

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was pure total bliss. I feel rested and refreshed now. I did exactly what I said I was going to do. I watched TV and I napped.
I have some news that does not pertain to DS, although I will update on that in a minute. DH found a puppy with the same rescue group that we got Zeke from. Zeke is basically my dog and follows me around the house whenever I am home. DH has been watching this puppy for a couple of weeks and finally told me he wanted her. We contacted the rescue and DH is going to pick her up on Saturday for a 1 week trial run. Zeke can be a little aggressive but we don't think he will be with a puppy. DH is very excited about this and I am excited for him. Puppies are a lot of work but we both love dogs so I think it will be fine. It is going to give us quite the house full though since DD is still living there with her 2 dogs.
DS had a really good day yesterday. She is more alert. Still having issues with her kidneys but they are still watching them closely. My DM called me about 20 times yesterday to keep asking me if things were normal with DS. I also talked to DS for a few minutes on the phone and told her I would be back on Saturday. I talked to BIL and told him when I get there on Saturday he should go home and take Sunday off. If anything urgent comes up I will call him. He agreed that sounded like a good idea. He is exhausted. He probably needs more than one day but I have to come back to VA on Monday.
Susie I like the sound of your class. I have always been intrigued with royalty. I love any movies, tv shows regarding royalty. I have read a lot of books about kings and queens.

Loreli welcome I hope you come and post with us often. This is a great group. Love the purple hair.
Lora I hope you get to go on your hike tomorrow. So sorry you had an early morning this morning. I woke up at 3 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep either.
Andi enjoy your time with DD and DGD. I know you are excited they are coming.
I have a date night with DH tonight. He bought us concert tickets to see Chris Jansen (country artist) it is a small venue. We have not done anything just the 2 of us in awhile. We are going to dinner first and then to the concert. I am really looking forward to it.

I did get some more sleep. I put on Netflix in the den and stretched out on the sofa with my favorite throw. Before long I'd dozed off and I think I probably got about an 1.5 hour nap. Not a lot, but definitely better than nothing. Now it's coffee time! Lots of coffee time...Lol.
Andi - I was just thinking the other day that I want to order some more of those hiking tights. I still only have the two pair that I ordered originally, but with the new direction my life has taken, along with a long sleeved tunic styled t-shirt they're pretty much my daily uniform. Haha! I bet you can't wait until DD and DGD are available for hugging. I hope you all have a great weekend together. And now additional time with DS and his littles, how fun!
Susie - another Go, Go, Go day for you. Enjoy your time with DGS!
Jana - a new puppy! Yay! It sounds like yesterday was exactly what you were needing. Enjoy your concert tonight. Maybe today DM will be calmer and not feel the need to call you for every little thing today. I meant to mention that I was so happy to hear about the hotel discount. I'm sure that helps so much! Safe travels on your way back to NC. Thinking of you and DS.

Susie, saw your post last night. I will bet you would love this book if you like that class. It would be a good book club book too. It's The Gown, by Jennifer Robson. Lots of elements in it, but mainly about the company and embroiderers who worked on Queen Elizabeth's wedding gown.
Lorelei, welcome. Tell us a little about yourself.
Lora, sorry about the lack of sleep. White noise is never white noise to me, it's just noise that keeps me up.
Jana, glad your DS had a bit of improvement. I know you were anxious to get her out of the hospital into a rehab facility, but maybe that should wait until she is more stable. I know it is tough on you too. Good luck with the 2nd pup. I am glad you ended up getting the cleaning woman, it will be so helpful with the 2 dogs too. I cut mine down to once every 2 weeks, sometimes I even go longer, but love when she comes and everything is neat and clean. I never keep it that way.

Good morning everyone -
Welcome Lorelei!
Jana - so exciting to hear about a new rescue and hopefully DS continues to improve.
Andi enjoy your long weekend and your grandkids.
Lora that was a horrible time to be awake - I'm glad you got a little bit more sleep.
Robin - wishing you a happy Friday
Susie you are always on the go it seems!
Last night at home was good - it's funny because I did a couple of things and then went back to get ready for bed and realized it was just 8 pm. So I sat on the couch watching tv (fell asleep) and then went to bed. Today is pretty full with meetings which can be positive because the time goes by quickly. This evening I'll be doing nothing - relaxing at home. Tomorrow I have a few things to go to for my nephews so it will be a bit of a weird day given the timing of everything.
Back to WI tomorrow morning for the first time in 2 weeks I think. Reality check time!
HAPPY FRIDAY!

I took care of some laundry, and prepped supper. It's ready to just pop into the oven now, it's Creamy Taco Cauli-Rice Bake. I kind of combined several recipes to get to this one. I've made this before without the "creamy" part (which is half a brick of cream cheese), and it was good like that but kind of missing something. I think the cream cheese will be a great addition. Then I took another nap....lol. Then woke up got my shower (finally), cleaned up the kitchen and I'm not just sitting and enjoying a mineral water while I check in here.
Robin - Yes! The white noise just makes me listen harder it seems. Now if it had been a TV show or something, I'd have been sleeping like a baby and DH would have been glued to every word. Haha. But alas, he's the one that had to go off to the office this morning, so more important that he caught the good Zzzz's.
Amanda - I've probably found myself getting ready for bed around 8 or 830 way too often lately. I keep telling myself that all the back and forth between time zones has my body confused and I'm still stuck in Eastern...so 9 or 930. I'm not sure I actually believe that though. Ha!
