This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning all. How I treasure these first hours of the day when it's peaceful and quiet and I can get my thoughts together. This will probably be the last hour today when I can do so, so I better use it well. I'm on my second cup of decaf, have already prepped strawberries and a salad to take with us to the brunch. At 8 I have to go pick up the food. I don't know how DD does it - even with one small one there is just something to be done at every moment of the day. I can't even imagine how we'll pack up and leave here by 9:30 and I'm going to work hard on not stressing about this. Everyone will wait until we get there with the food. After all, what choice do they have, right?
We watched a dreadful (to me) movie last night on Amazon - The Incredibles. OMG so violent. DGD loved it, of course, as did DD. I left the room and did other things for awhile. We rented the movie because DN gave DGD an Incredible Baby doll that walks and giggles and she laughed out loud each time she made it move. So now we know who Incredible Baby is, hahaha.
So, not sure when I'll get home tonight, hopefully not too late. DD will stay with my ex's wife who lives near DS so they don't have to do the hour and a quarter drive with me each way (tonight and again tomorrow morning). I have to decide whether to do it again myself tomorrow. So hard to try to cram everything in to such a short period of time! It's been wonderful having them here and everything worked out fine just as you all reassured me it would.
Jana, glad you made it to NC and that DS is improving so noticeably. Hope the dialysis does just what it's supposed to do. I know you'll have a long day today with her alone since you said you're giving DBIL the day off.
Lorelei, your job sounds so interesting! Your work hours would be tough for me - I'm definitely an earlybird. Where do you live? You mention a river and I'm near the Hudson so I was just wondering.
Lora, that hike sounds wonderful, so glad you got out. How did they count the miles in the end? Was it for the round trip or one way?
Robin, I go to Long Island City once a month for my monthly Executive Committee meeting of the NY HIV Planning Council. It's at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene so I know that subway stop well at this point, have been going for over 3 years. But Long Island itself is a mystery to me - I've only been there a few times and have gotten lost on most visits. And stuck in traffic always. I think you have to be a local to know how to deal with it and I've hard Montaulk is gorgeous, as are other places on the ocean or Sound.
Guess I better get rolling here. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone!
Well guess what? Yep...it's raining here. I've about decided that I'm going to take a different approach to my weather report. How about this plan for the short term...you should just assume that I'm getting rain, unless I mention otherwise. And I will try not to bitch and moan every single day that "it's raining again". Will that work? Haha!
Well I pretty much felt fabulous all day yesterday. The fresh air, the exercise, and the endorphin high kept me feeling calm and stress free all day. It was a lovely feeling.
Andi - I'm guessing you're having a great time with your DD and DGD. Well it seems that the "2.4 miles" was from the start to the end of the trail...it seems the end is actually a ways beyond the waterfall, but was marked as "Closed At This Time Due To Fragile Habitat". Not sure what that means exactly, but I don't think we would have gone any further anyway. the waterfall was the payoff for us. So we ended up with 1.75 from the start to the waterfall and again back down, so 3.50 miles total. At least that's according to my fitbit - which I had synced with GPS. so I'm pretty confident that's a fairly accurate reading.
Susie - How fun! What movie did you guys see? I'm also wondering about wheel chair seating. Did they have the empty spots at the end of the aisle so DH could just wheel in and park there? Or did he transfer to a theater chair? The one we frequented in ATL had the empty spots, as well as "Love Seat" seating right next to the reserved wheel chair spots. Those were like double seats (no crack in the middle - if that makes sense). Sometimes I saw wheel chair patrons park the chair and sit in those instead - when it wasn't a "full house", I guess.
Robin - Yesterday was definitely one of the more rugged hikes we've ever done. Also we were the only people there. It's quite remote as well, and neither of us had cell service. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking....Don't break anything! Haha. I hope you had a nice evening and dinner with DBIL.
Jana - great to hear that DS seems to be perkier and more alert. I hope that continues and her recovery progresses easily. She's certainly earned it. My blue moods come and go. I think just having the house on the market will help. That part feels like a big step in the progress toward getting back to one mortgage payment, one insurance, one garbage pick up, one electric, one gas, and one water bill. Plus the gas and wear & tear on the car, driving back and forth every weekend. Now to just get the damn thing sold. Lol. Finances are probably the one thing I've always stressed over most. And while we're okay for a while, it would just be easier to have it over and done with. Right now it kind of feels like were stuck in mud, and can't move forward. Like I don't want to spend any more than absolutely necessary on the new house...so the bedding doesn't match, I haven't purchased any "dΓ©cor" items, I haven't painted the flamingo pink bathroom...etc. And I think when I do some of that stuff that I'm really wanting to do, I'll start feeling so much better. But for now I can say, today I'm ok. Who know what tomorrow will look like. But thank you for asking.
Lorelei - so good to see you back. As you can see, I'm kind of ramble on a bit myself, so doing that is totally fine here....Haha. How long have you worked overnight? I used to work 4 day shifts (7a-4p) a week, and 1 overnight (midnight - 9a) every week. I did this for about 6 years, and was wrecked every single week. It's probably a whole lot easier to do it as your regular schedule instead of just once a week though. Although I always felt a little "out of sync" with the rest of the world when I was doing the overnight. Haha. And yes, the forest smelled wonderful. The wet leave, lots of wet cedar, and then the misty air at the top when we got to the waterfall was lovely.
Okay, it's about time to refill my coffee mug and the pup will be waking up in a few minutes and demanding her breakfast. I swear, that pup has an alarm clock in her gut. Every day at 7am and 5pm...she know exactly, to the minute that it's meal time.

Hi Everyone, I didnt get here yesterday like I usually do. I had time only to do one errand in the morning before picking up my friend. We had planned to go to this art center to look around at their exhibits before going out for lunch at the thai restaurant we like. I had looked it up last week to make sure they were open on Saturdays. They must change weekly because when I was googling directions from their site it said they were closed. So we just went over to Giant supermarket for a few minutes until the restaurant opened. This the second time this has happened with the museum. Jana, glad that your sister is improving. Lora, glad you enjoyed your hike despite the wetness. Yesterday While I was at Target I looked for blankets for my friend's new beds. She didnt want me to get them from Kohls so I am glad I didnt have to make a trip up there for that. Today going to the gym as usual and food shopping. I picked up The Great Alone so will be delving into that later this evening. Andi, glad you are enjoying your time with your family. Lorelei, welcome to our group. π Tommorow I have plans with a former coworker from a past job. I havent seen her in forever. We have tried but our schedules are always different and it never worked out. We worked together as teaching partners for 7 years. That is a long time. I hope it wont feel weird since we havent seen each other in so long but I think it will be ok. Lora, glad that your house is now live. Yeah!! Have a great day!!

Good Morning - just lost all of my post...so here I start again, with a shorter version
Andi - hope you are successful in not stressing...you are right, they will wait, you have the food. My 2 cents-- Go ahead and make the trip back tomorrow...it will be worth even a few minutes of seeing them all together again.
Lora -yeah for the hike - it was worth it just for the waterfall. Yes, every theatre I've been in has "empty" spaces with chairs beside them...so it works for us (even though DH has only gone twice since he has been in the wheelchair - maybe he will go more often now). Maybe someday, he will be able to just walk in with a cane or walker and sit it one of the seats. "Isn't it Romantic" was the movie. I did not think I would like it - DFriend picked it - but it was cute, funny, and uplifting. They acted out parts of well-known romantic comedies. It was fun saying...."OH, that's from PRETTY WOMAN," or whatever. I would not often go to a DINE-IN movie theatre, but it was fun.... you would have loved the brussel sprouts Lora.I think they were definitely a Keto friendly dish.
Janet - you always have something interesting to do on the weekends - the museums, art centers, etc. Hope you enjoy THE GREAT ALONE. I have to pick up THE GLASS OCEAN (gal opens a chest that belonged to Great Grandfather who died on the Lusitania in 1915). I think I will really like it since I love historical fiction.
Lorelei - stop in whenever you can...you are right, we are very supportive, as you can see. You will catch on to the abbreviations quickly. DS can be Dear Son or Dear Sister. DGS - dear grandson..you get it. There are some I have to ask about too.
I did get to the gym yesterday, so I think I will skip today UNLESS I go to the yoga at 3:30 or 4:30 inbetween my 2:00 and 6:00 events today - ha!

Good morning.
Last night was a good night, we slept the best from 4 am until 8 am. We slept during the night but seemed like we had our deepest sleep early this morning. They have a recliner in the room that lays down. It's not as comfortable as the last place she was at but I can sleep in it. I will say, i don't think i would have been able to do all this at 267 lbs. So NSV - not one i would have wanted but i will take it.
Loreli i don't have my purple hair anymore either. I actually kind of miss it
Lora we are getting rain in NC too. I drove here in the rain and will probably drive home in the rain
Susie glad that you enjoyed the movie yesterday.
Andi enjoy you time with DD.
Janet and Robin enjoy your Sunday.

Hey everyone -
Popping in real quick. I was down .2 at WI yesterday which I considered a win. It was a good day, but long. My youngest nephew had an indoor soccer game in the middle of nowhere at 9 am yesterday (game is actually a stretch - there was no one really coaching the kids even though there's a guy who is supposed to do that). Then I did some errands, came home for lunch and a nap, then headed back older to my oldest nephew's basketball game. AFter that I did a couple more errands, had dinner out, and went to meet them at VT for a Chinese New Year celebration where oldest nephew's cello group was playing. That started around 7 and we didn't leave until about 10. My poor niece fell asleep in her chair, and youngest nephew was overtired and loopy.
Today I'm just doing some housework and enjoying NOT being around people :-) HAPPY Sunday!

Just a quick pop in.
Lorelei, nice to get some background on you, a very interesting job you have, to me anyway. We are a very supportive group, and very nice too.
Jana, the story with Amazon is that they were planning to build a big new facility here, just outside of Manhattan, but there was neighborhood opposition, so they ended up backing out. That's the bottom line in a nutshell. Glad you had a decent night's sleep last night. Can't remember if you are going back today.
Janet, sorry about the museum mess up.
Andi, the traffic on Long Island is bad at certain peak times, and some of the parkways get more crowded than others, so we try to stay off them, or avoid them as much as possible. There are a lot of beautiful parts around though. Although the ocean water isn't as warm here, I don't think many beaches rival the ones on the south shore here.
Nice dinner last night. My DBIL is moving back to Florida. His company found a position for him as a supervisor in their office in Ft Lauderdale, so that's great. He was leaving to drive down today. Nice weather today for February, in the 30's and sunny, I can't complain. It looks like we will escape February with maybe a total of 3 inches of snow for the month, if that, which is more than we had in December and January combined. There was a bit more in November, an early storm, but we were in Chicago.

Jana - yeah for the good night... I hope things are on the upswing. You are right...much easier to handle all of this at your reduced weight!
Amanda - yep...a loss is a loss! Enjoy a quiet day today
Robin - I meant to tell you...thanks for the explanation... DH knew the geography, but I would have thought that Long Island City was on Long Island. Glad they found a place for DBIL in FLorida - Am I right in thinking that he preferred that??
OK...Norwex party (have any of you heard of that??) was fun. I think the product is good, but I think the prices are so high to give dealers a commission, etc AND the shipping irritates me when I can get things from Amazon for free shipping. Next is Hand & Foot in half an hour. DH cannot keep up with my social schedule - lol!

Got to the gym this morning and then shopped and did my laundry over at my friend's apartment. So glad that I bought the blankets yesterday. My plans are confirmed with my friend for tommorow for lunch. The weather should be okay by then. I have to get up early to go to the labratory. I have to stop eating like now I guess or by 7:30 the latest. No snack tonight I guess. I am excited to see her though as I havent seen her for a long time. I was hoping that this other coworker could join us but she has to work this holiday. Oh well! I cant believe I still remembered pretty well how to drive to her house. Have a great rest of the night!

Susie - I have several Norwex items. I love their crystal deodorant, I've used that off and on for several years. I also love (this is going to sound strange to "love" this) their toilet brush. I have two that I've had for several years and they're terrific. My MIL uses their dryer ball thingys instead of dryer sheets or fabric softener. They're supposed to get rid of static, I think. I've never tried them though. I also have a couple of microfiber cleaning cloths that I think my MIL gave me, IDK what so extra special about them though...Lol Janet - enjoy your plans with your friend tomorrow. Robin - that's super that they found a place for DBIL. Fort Lauderdale will certainly be a change from the North East. Amanda - I hope you've enjoyed your "no people" day. That will probably be my M, W, TH and F this week. Lol We just finished an early dinner and I got the kitchen cleaned up. As soon as I get the last load of clothes out of the dryer, I'll be done for the day. I'm hoping to get my butt in gear and get to the gym this week. It can only help my mood, right?

Yes, he is happy about going back to FL. It was crazy that they bought the condo there, or actually she bought it, and they gave him the transfer, only to send him right back to NY. The condo is in Boynton Beach, so commuting distance to Ft Lauderdale. He was joking that he was going to miss the buffet breakfast and daily maid service he had at whatever hotel they were putting him up at. The biggest problem with him being in NY at a hotel was that if he took off for a few days to fly down to Florida, he had to pack up everything and move it out of a room.
Susie, I have never heard of Norwex, however I have found that most of the things they sell at these parties are expensive for what they are. However, I know from my Tupperware, they last much longer too.
Lora, I will have to look at those things you mentioned.

I bought the dryer balls for DD for Christmas, but I bought some for half the price (and the ingredients listed were the same). I do like the idea...they really do work, so I threw my dryer sheets (which are toxic) away and just use the dryer balls now. The micro fiber cloths evidently have silver in them and that is what makes them hold the dust, etc...people who use them swear by them.
Off to bed...
