Good morning chicks and thanks for the start Chele.
Chele - we had a night of sleet and freezing rain so it was very slick this morning when took the pups out. Gary took Wally out earlier for me but of course he wanted to go back out with my diva Zoe when she was ready. How are your sinuses doing today? I think you're also having not so nice weather if I recall the pictures from the weather channel. Please be safe and have a good day!
Kathy - count down begins I would imagine! Are you working today or off? I was happy to not have to get up on such a miserable morning. I think we're going to have some additional bad weather later in the week. I approved the department's payroll and sent a few emails and am hoping to just hang out and do a few things around the house today.
Linda - you were once again a whirling dervish of activity! How did the casserole come out? Did the cushion help with your back while pruning and moving rocks?
Becky - how are things going in heatwave land? Must confuse the fur kids with the ups and downs being so drastic. How is the back feeling?
Karen - very pleased that your Crocs seem to be what you needed! I know you want to be busy but I think you've really got to give those feet a chance to truly heal. You were a cooking dervish with setting up both Arya and Dale with meals! My chicken and dumplings worked out and to your question, yes my dumplings are biscuit like. I also happened to add riced cauliflower and mushrooms just to change it up. How is the foot feeling this morning? Although it's been good for me to rest physically this long weekend; my brain has been haunting me with the situation of the supervisor who balked so badly at her PR. I think laying low today and staying indoors until the ice hopefully melts might be a good idea for me.
I hope you all have a safe and good day ladies. Ciao for now~

Liz, I am glad you get another day to stay home even if you had to do a little work and that you haven’t had to venture out in the snow and ice. We had freezing rain yesterday and a little snow this morning. I went out the side door to put some recyclables in the bin and did a comedy special when I stepped on what I thought was snow but was ice underneath. My feet were sliding, my arms were flailing and I was blaspheming so all the neighbors could hear. I managed to stay upright and hang on to the box of recyclables and said to myself and anyone else who was listening “I think I’ll dump this later,” in a calm and reasonable voice. Hilarious! Your supervisor’s reaction to her review has really gotten to you. It is hard to let something like that go but I hope you can. Dwelling is stressing you out.
Kathy, I hate having to wait to get to food items in the store. I learned to go after 9 am after the suplly teucks have arrived and the new stocks are making it to the shelves but before the noon crush. I never did Deal a Meal but I did have the workout tapes, Dancing to the Oldies.
Linda, your almond tree is beautiful. Do you get squirrels in your backyard when the nuts start to fall? The squirrels here have eaten a ton of my lily bulbs. The little $#*&$. I was tired just reading about your day. How did tne casserole turn out? I like Eating Well recipes along with skinnytaste.
Becky, I haven’t done the decimals on ITB. I wondered how they would work out. PP is the plan I like the best from WW. It seems to suit me when I follow it. It doesn’t look like you are going to be too hot today. I hope you can get a nice walk in.
Karen, your food plan looks very Fuhrman like. I have to cut back on food and increase exercise because just cutting back on food won’t help me lose weight and just exercising won’t do it either. How is the tooth? Did the dentist’s office answer today? Now that you mention it all our dentists have been lean and most of our doctors. I would believe any story about priests in general. I have met specific priests that I thought truly believed what they said and walked the talk but many... How is the foot after the standing and cooking you did?
Besides doing my comedy routine at the bins, I did a lot of paperwork and got all the tax papers ready. I don’t have an appointment until early March but I am ready. The potato/cauliflower soup turned out great. I will have that for dinner. For lunch, I am taking the easy road. I have a bag of Kroger stir fry veggies already washed and chopped and they come with teriyaki sauce. I will add some pepper and ginger and some scrambled eggs and throw it on too of some brown and wild rice. Uncle Ben’s has a microwave pouch. It will be nice and quick and should last 2 or 3 meals. I got my workout in this morning as well. I seem to be on Singapore time, because I woke up at 1 am. It is not even noon and I am tired. I see a nap in my future.

Thanks for the presidential start, Chele. Pesky squirrels! A couple of things that might work are to plant future bulbs as deep as possible. For those already in the ground (the ones that haven't been nibbled on anyway), you might want to try red pepper. If you were having drier weather, I would suggest sprinkling it around the area where you have the bulbs planted. But, given that your weather pattern has been similar to ours, you might want to consider red pepper wax spray, which you can put on the plants. If they don't have it at your local garden center, Amazon probably sells it. You might have to reapply after a good rain or snow. You are definitely eating good and prepping for the next few days of meals. The stir fry will make things particularly easy. I did hear back from the dentist. Of course, it was while I was in the shower. But Dale caught the phone and brought it to me as I was getting out. I have a work-in at 1:30 tomorrow. Discomfort but no pain yet. Still haven't called me about surgery time on Wednesday. Good job getting so far ahead on your tax appointment. We will still be using our NC accountant, and if we can get things done enough ahead of time (unlike last year), perhaps neither of us will have to make the 6 hour RT drive to pick them up. Sorry about the early wake up. Happy napping! How often do you get to Facetime with Iggy? How are things going for him with his hearing aids on the fritz?
Liz, I hadn't considered that you might get the day off. Sweet! I hope you won't let the supervisor's reaction to the PR weigh too heavily on your mind. Knowing you, it was an honest assessment and apparently her self assessment doesn't was not. Hopefully she has done some soul-searching and is now more accepting of the reality and she will improve. I had several of those situations during my time in management and they certainly aren't pleasant, but moving past it and gettting things where they need to be is essential. Your chicken and dumplings with the mushrooms and riced cauliflower sounds very unique. and tasty. Have you been reading today, along with pup cuddling?
Enjoy your high dollar dinner, Linda. I hope it will be wonderful. How was art class today?
Becky, how was yesterday's walk? Will you have a repeat today? How are the critters?
Lucky 7 to go, Kathy. How's the paperwork process moving along? It's been in the 40s all day here, so please send us a few of those excess degrees on the thermometer, if you don't mind. This coming weekend will be the last you'll have to do a Saturday shopping trip (unless you go on your Friday off instead). Enjoy going during the week when it is so much less crowded.
The foot isn't much different from yesterday, despite all the standing on a stone floor cooking yesterday. I will take a pillow with me to the master gardener meeting tonight just in case I need it. I think I have gotten pulled into the middle of something there. About 3 months ago, it was announced that someone else would be taking over management of the plant sale booth at the flower and garden show in April. Last night out of the blue the person who has been doing it for the previous 10 years or so called to ask me to be on her team again this year. She wasn't at the meeting but I happened to be sitting next to the person who was announced and told her I would help her. We have a called board meeting this evening and the guy in charge of the flower and garden show will be there but neither of the 2 people related to the booth will be. So I hope we can get it straight. My fear is that each will defer to the other and the entire thing will fall through the cracks. We made over $1K last year, so it could be a major problem. Oh, the politics of volunteer organizations! My vibration plate came a little while ago. We left the gate open and it's good that we did because, despite my telling the agent twice when I talked to him on Friday evening, our gate code had not been put into the system. I gave FedEx a gate code 3 years ago and I know it has to be there somewhere because there is one driver who uses it. Why don't the others know where to look?? I gave it to this driver, so maybe it will be where it needs to be. The machine is in 2 parts and one of the boxes is too large for me to safely navigate down the stairs and the other isn't that large but it's way too heavy. I need to leave here in a little over an hour and, with the back to-back to-back meetings, I believe I will have a total of at least 60 (of the 24 required LOL) volunteer hours by the time I get home this evening. I also went on YouTube this morning and downloaded a bunch of Growing A Greener World and other gardening videos to watch while I'm recuperating and will have my required CEUs finished as well. I have a 2-day conference coming up in May, so I will have many more than my required CEUs by then. Pleasant evening, Chicks!

That must have been quite a sight, Chele! Glad you didn't fall. Boy, I do not miss that.
The recipe was good...right at my toleration for spice limit even without the two hit peppers. I will probably use regular tomatoes and add my levels of green chilies instead. It did open up the sinuses!
I sit on an outdoor chair cushion because it beats sitting pavement or rock or wet grass or too much bending. I have another to kneel on to get up. I have a rolling yard tool box to sit on, but it is still a lot of bending on some jobs.
We do not have squirrels. There are roof rats that are similarly pesty if they get into your attic, and most homes have special coverings on attic vents, caulking, etc to keep them out. They love fruit and especially citrus, and people trap them or put out poisoned bait. Have only seen one once and no evidence ...which is hollowed out fruit, especially pomagranite.
Cool, windy,rainy...weird. Frost tonight and a freeze warning tomorrow night...here! Three years ago it was 90. I hate the climate changes from warmed oceans affecting jet stream.
Did a couple yards chores, covered the exposed faucets and pipe connection from the street, the covered two in-ground ficus trees and two hibicsus shrubs wih special fabric, looks spooky at night. Someone said the landscape covers make it look like Halloween in the neighborhood!
Then dog got a walk.

Thanks for the start Chele.
Liz I'm glad you were off today even if you had to do some work stuff.I hope you can relieve the stress over the supervisor's review.Compared to your weather I guess we are having a heat wave.We got up to 86 one day last week and it spoiled us.It's sunny and 60 degrees today but with that wind it feels cool.I think they are predicting rain for tomorrow and a little chance most days this week.My upper back always hurts because of the curved spine but the lower back is doing fairly well. The cats stay in all the time so they don't know whether it's cold or hot outside but Scooter does not like the wind. She tried to get out of the yard with us yesterday and today and I think it's because of the wind.I'm glad your chicken and dumplings turned out well.
Chele I'm glad you didn't fall when you went out on the ice.I asked on a Facebook Points Plus group about the decimals and one said she didn't use them so I went back to just counting points plus the regular way.It really doesn't make much of a difference.I ended up using 1 weekly point yesterday so I don't think that was too bad.I haven't decided if I will add any maintenance points in yet since we get 49 weekly points. It definitely isn't hot today but would feel much better if it weren't for the wind.I got in 30 min on the recumbent bike and a 35 min walk on the road.I definitely have to both watch what I eat plus exercise especially if I want to keep the weight off now.I can see why you are tired waking at 1:00.
Karen I'm glad you will be able to see the dentist tomorrow. It's good you aren't in too much pain.I didn't get a walk in yesterday because that wind was too nippy.I did get one in this afternoon because Kenneth said it felt good and when I got out there it was pretty windy but I got in 35 minutes on the road anyway. The critters are fine.Scooter did try to get out of the yard to go with us again this morning when we were leaving for HEB and Walmart.I hope your surgery goes well Wednesday.Enjoy your meeting tonight.

Liz, I was working today, but I'm glad you got an extra day off and could stay out of the bad weather. We're breaking records here for heat right now and are getting way too close to the 90s. I was noticing on the way to work that things are blooming, but a lot of the trees that change color are still red. Sorry to hear about the supervisor's reaction to the performance review. I haven't had to deal with that for awhile, but I know it's hard. Hope the rest of the week goes well and at least it's a short one.
Chele, I was chuckling at your description of slipping on the ice, but also very glad that you didn't fall. I remember Dancing to the Oldies. They would really be oldies now! I think I mentioned before that we had to take down DM's bird feeder due to the pesky squirrels. She was afraid they'd jump from there to her roof and didn't want them to try and move in. It was a shame since the bird feeder was attracting lots of pretty birds before the squirrels took over.
Karen, I filled out the separation paperwork, so have that ready to go. I have to stop by my employer's building to turn in a bunch of equipment. I probably will be working from home some on Friday, so I guess it's really 7 1/2 to go. Not that I'm counting! Hope you had a good meeting with the master gardeners. I will gladly send you 20 degrees and we can both be in the 60s. If only!
Linda, can't believe it's so cold there. I think I'd rather have squirrels than roof rats.
Becky, I think the exercise helps with the metabolism, so it makes sense that it takes watching what you eat and exercising to lose or keep the weight off. You're doing a great job at both!
