This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning everyone and happy Monday.
I guess some folks are off today for Presidents Day? DH is working, but if it's a federal holiday (I'm not sure) then his traffic should be next to nothing, and the military base and all of the defense contractors and NASA make up a huge part of the workforce around these parts.
Not much news from last night. I'm not going to mention weather, as I'm sure you can take a not so wild guess and be correct. Ha!
Susie - do you have the PVC dryer balls, like the Norwex ones or do you have wool? I'm trying to decide what to get, the prices on Amazon are quite good. One of makers of the PVC balls advertise them as "Sheep and Vegan Friendly". That made me chuckle. It's not like they kill sheep for wool.
Jana - I think you're headed back to VA today? Drive safely!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely day. I'm sure I'll be stopping back in later. Not much on the "to do" list here today other than a load of towels and maybe a little light house work.

Good morning Lora and ATF. Lora, I was sure when you moved to a different time zone that you wouldn't be starting us off regularly anymore and that now that you're not working you'd be sleeping in. I guess not! It's always wonderful to check in here in the morning and see that you've gotten us going as always. Thank you.
Sorry about your weather. We're having more of the same northeast stuff - snow overnight, but looks like just an icy coating. I'm going to go see DGKs this morning when we have a late breakfast in our favorite place. Am waiting to hear what time we're meeting. DD is still jet lagged and sort of on CO time, not trying to get on NY time because she leaves tomorrow, so everything starts late here. DS is of course up and at 'em early, and even though it's a holiday today so he and DDIL aren't working, their nanny is coming in so we can go out to breakfast without the baby. Who is adorable but is not able to sit still in a restaurant at this point, crawling everywhere and pulling herself to standing on anything. At 8 months. Nothing is safe.
I fell into the sugar and flour ditch yesterday with the carrot cake that has been a trigger for me since forever. I ate way, way too much of it and felt pretty sick the rest of the day. Had a small and OP dinner and I think I've learned enough new skills in my Rezoom course to get back on track without turning this into a 3 month binge fest. I'll need to be careful today, for sure, but it helps that DD isn't staying here now and all the food I don't eat is safely out of the house. Was disappointed in myself but what I need to work on is not giving up, continuing my journey right away, and I feel like I'm doing that. As the founder of this program says, the road is only two feet from the ditch, so you can get right back on. Of course that means that the ditch is only 2 feet from the road too...
Plans for today are to have breakfast with the kids, then come home and get organized for the week: laundry, supermarket, some meal prep, and the gym. Also to get to an auto supply store so I can get some industrial strength glass cleaner. There is a film on my windshield that is driving me out of my mind. I have enough vision issues during rain without that as well. I probably also need new wipers, not sure when I'll get to that.
Have a great day, all, will bbl.

Oh Andi! So sorry about the misstep with the carrot cake. Holy smoke, I used to love that stuff....I've come to realize how much it did not love me though. The endless cravings and binge cycles were brutal for me. Just move on, today is a new day and ready to be handled like the BLE champ that you are! Enjoy your time with the DGKs. I was thinking DD and DGD were headed home today, but I see you said that tomorrow is their travel day. I don't blame DD a bit...for this short of a visit, I think I would have stayed on CO time as well. Even if she'd tried, she'd probably just be getting adjusted when time to go back home and readjust again. I hope you get all of your to-do list accomplished today.
As to my early rising, I have been getting up fairly early on a somewhat regular basis, but I've been going to bed fairly early as well. I'm not sure I've ever fully adjusted to central time. Ha! Of course, with all the back and forth we've been doing between time zones for months, maybe that's been hampering the transition. Who knows? Either way it's all good.
Oh...I meant to mention earlier, my WI was a .2 loss. So nothing highly significant here. Mostly I'm still maintaining at about 12 lbs. above where I was before I walked away from work. Oh well, maybe this is the new normal for me. I'm just going to continue with what I'm doing and try not to stress, as there are way too many other things to stress over right now. As long as I'm not continuing to gain, I'll be ok with that.
Okay, I here Miss Lily starting to stir, so I need to pop her food puck in the microwave and thaw it out. I guess her breakfast belly alarm is going off. Lol.

Good morning everyone -
Jana you didn't miss it - I didn't share yet. It's such a tough thing with other people's information so I'm kind of holding off until I hear something more. I've thought about posting in our FB group or sending a private FB message - so I may do that!
Going out to dinner after work today with two coworkers. Should be fun but potentially pointy. Pointy more in terms that we're planning on getting drinks. We'll see when we get there though. I always think I'm going to order a drink and then I don't.
Just booked a flight this morning - when I go to disney in a couple weeks, I'll be driving down with my friend then flying back to Charlotte - so I'll only have a 2.5 hour drive home instead of a 12 hour drive. THat should be good and help me be more rejuvenated for work the next day.
Going to run - much to do! Happy Monday!

Hi Everyone, I was up early to get my shower and go to the lab. I know I could eat or drink to 7:30 last night because the check in takes a few minutes and this morning one of the machines to check in was not working and one of the people checking in was taking forever. So that is done anyway. The ironic thing is I will have to do it again pretty soon for my nephrologist unless there is someway to send it to her. She may want a urinaylsis too so I have to find the lab sheet and see. If not, maybe I could copy this report and send to her. Other than lunch and maybe a quick errand I need to put together the new vaccum cleaner. I'll probably have to put Cassie in the bedroom for a bit as I am sure she will be trying to assist me. Lol! I have a question to ask you about Amazon Prime. There is an annual fee for that? Correct? Do you think it is worth the cost? I guess if you order a lot then it is. If you dont order too much, do you think its still worth it or pay the shipping? It seems like it would be about the same cost wise. Have a great day!

Amanda - I think flying the better part of the way home from Disney, would be a great time and energy saver for you. Good idea. Janet - I believe the cost of a Prime membership is $99 per year. For us, it's worth it, as we do a good bit of shopping on Amazon and save with the free shipping - which is 2 day in most cases. And also we have the Amazon Prime App on our SmartTV so we have a lot of movies, shows, documentaries, etc. available to us thru the Primer membership as well. Cassie? Did you change Raspberry's name to Cassie? I must have missed that. I like Cassie though

Yes, I changed her name to Cassie as a first name but her middle name is Raspberry. I still sometimes slip out with Jasmine tho as I had Jasmine for so long. Cassie seems to fit her better somehow.

Janet - Lol. I certainly understand how Jasmine can come out. My Mindy has been gone for many years, and still every once in a while, I'll slip and call Lily by Mindy.

Hi again. Susie was right in her recommendation - am so glad I went and had breakfast with my kids and grands. I came up with a different meal, am tired of eggs, so had oatmeal, a side of sausage, a side of fruit, and black decaf. It was perfect. There was no time to linger, of course, with two toddlers. They continued on to one of those kiddy places so the the DGKs could run around and burn off some energy. I felt very torn but realized I needed to come home and take care of myself - I'm getting DD's cold, unfortunately (she assures me it's not a bad one, ha), and I have errands to run and work tomorrow. May not get to the gym today after all, am drinking a big mug of tea now but am feeling chilled and just generally under the weather. I did a little coughing and sneezing last night but actually feeling sick didn't start until a little while ago. Hopefully I can rest a bit today and kick this thing to the curb. Love being with my family, missing them already.
Lora, thanks as always for the support and encouragement. I feel pretty securely back on track today. Like you, the feeling after eating that crap - lightheadedness and nausea in my case - are so not worth it, and I'm sure it would set up the cravings and binge cycle if I let down my guard for one minute. I don't have any of that when I'm following my plan, so back at it today. I guess the way for you to lose those 12 pounds would be to go back to work for a bit? Hahaha. Not a serious suggestion, of course. But interesting what stress does. Btw, how's that circus and those monkeys? Any word? I think you don't miss any of it, right?
Janet, I love having Amazon Prime, for the reasons that Lora mentioned. I do buy quite a lot of stuff from them plus I love having Prime on my TV so I can watch some good shows. I like your cat's new name.
Amanda, flying one way sounds like a perfect solution, especially when you have to be at work the next day. Good luck at the restaurant tonight.
OK, gotta throw my grocery list together.

Andi - so glad you went for one last family meal. And it sounds like you made a terrific choice. Congrats on that! As to that circus and those monkeys... I miss a couple of those monkeys. But they were the one's that never caused me any head/heartache. But honestly...it's so weird. I don't miss the actual work, the Slackervisor or the Idiot @$$clown manager at all. I think just a little bit I miss the structure and routine of a real schedule. That's something I should probably work to create for myself. Back when DD was an infant and I didn't work, I had a super strict schedule for M - F. Once day was ALL laundry, another was menu planning/grocery shopping/food prep, another was dusting/vacuuming/general house cleaning, etc.
It's weird, I've had minimal contact with anybody back in ATL that I used to call "friend". I've reached out a few time via email and messenger, and have gotten responses, but nobody...I mean not one single "friend" has reached out to me. Well...my work buddy who took over some of my tasks reached out to me a couple of times early on with questions regarding time and payroll, but that's pretty much it. I mean other than one of them occasionally hitting "Like" on a pic I post of FB, that's about it. OH well. Clearly we just weren't as close as I thought we were, and that's fine. I've been moving away from somebody or other for my entire life. So, I know how this works...Lol. I guess I just thought doing so as an adult would be different than doing it as a kid. Apparently there is no difference at all. Lol
Oh well, enough mulling that over. The garbage truck just picked up, so I need to go roll in the giant can before the rain starts up again.

Hi ROs...back from DH's therapy with the neuro-fit trainer AND lunch with DS & DBIL. Nothing else planned for today.
Lora - I have the wool dryer balls (Woolite brand 2 balls for $4.99 vs. Norwex 3 balls for like $28.99 or so). Reading the label they both say the same thing: 100% wool. Yeah for holding steady on the weight. Had to laugh at you not missing the Slackervisor, etc
Andi - I agree with Lora - you have done so well with BLE...just get right back on that horse - you can do it. So glad you took the opportunity to see the kids again!
Amanda - woo hoo for the flight being booked. Enjoy dinner tonight with DFs
Janet - I thought the same thing as Lora...Cassie??? - but then saw your explanation...Raspberry was kind of long...I thought maybe you meant "Rassie" as a nickname - ha.
OK...think I'll run to the grocery store, then just sit and read or nap

Hi Everyone, Had a nice lunch with my former coworker. Talked a lot. She said another coworker had planned to come too but her father had a stroke and she went back to her home town in North Carolina. Did a few errands afterwards. It got cold and windy when we came out of the restaurant. I got some zucchini to make my roasted zucchini and spaghetti recipe. The asparagus was on sale yesterday. I am going to add some of that too. Andi, I hope that the cold doesnt last too long. I actually thought of Cassie's name when I was looking for this book called Tar Beach. It has a character named Cassie Lightfoot in it. Except with Cassie I call her Cassie Underfoot. Always!! Lol!! My friend says they put a collar with a bell on it due to the same issue. I might need to. I stepped on her by accident the other day. I plan to read some tonight after dinner. Back to work but my kids leave early or to the other room for extended care. The other teacher gets stuck again unfortunately this week. I am usually the one it happens to most of the time. Have a good remainder of the night.

So interesting about work friends, Lora. I am sure that will happen to me as well when I finally retire. In past jobs I would keep up with one or two people for awhile and then we'd drift apart. I've reconnected with some people on FB but it turns out a lot of what my work friends and I had in common was actually work. Once that was gone... Plus geography is against me - I live pretty far away from where I worked previously. I have one childhood friend I keep up with regularly, one high school friend, no one from college, really, a few people from my time in Israel, one friend I met on a weight loss website, hahaha, and another I met while taking a course in clinical social work. And that's pretty much it. Oh, and you guys!!! I do feel the need to build a community and plan to devote myself to that once I retire and decide where I'm living. If I belonged to a synagogue I know that would provide some instant (you get that from your church, right Susie?). My neighbors, unfortunately, haven't provided much of a workable pool.
Janet, glad you don't have extended care this week. I know how you dread it.
Susie, glad you'll have time to read and nap today!

Hey guys.... I normally don't focus on food..... but I had a terrible eating day yesterday. It started off wonderful. Then a friend I haven't seen in awhile showed up for dinner and it went downhill quick. All I have to say is I apparently really like donuts. Although I'm happy to say I'm so thoroughly angry with myself that I've already packed my meals for the week and ordered myself a new filtered water bottle so I will always have the correct good stuff on hand. Weee! Tonight and tomorrow should be fine, since I'm working and I'm limited with my food choices to what I bring with me.... but Wednesday and Thursday will be questionable. I'm hoping Wednesday will be alright because Mom and I plan on going to a WW meeting, then back to the gym for more knee-therapy for her. I'm actually looking forward to the gym. I do like swimming.
Andi - I'm sorry you didn't like the movie, but it's always nice to know what a toy is referencing. I raised my little brother when we were younger and it would drive me insane when he would show up with a toy and I had no clue where it came from or what it was about. And the internet was still all shiny and new so I couldn't just look it up. It was terrible. Ha ha! I'm so glad, though, that you're having a wonderful time. Family time, when you don't get it often, is always the best! I live where the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay meet in Maryland. I absolutely love being out on the water. I went kayaking with friend once and fell in love, so I bought myself one of my very own. Now I get to go out whenever I feel like it. It's great. I know how you feel about your carrot cake incident. I had the same trap with the donuts. It really sucks when you're all said and done and realize you don't feel good. Guess that crap isn't as delicious as we thought. Or at least, that's what I keep telling myself.
I really hope you feel better soon!
Lora - Rain really does suck. I can appreciate your utter dislike of it. It puts a damper on anything and everything you wanna do outside. I think if you wanna bitch and moan, feel free. I wouldn't wanna deal with rain everyday, either. Ha ha! I've been on the overnight shift for 12 years now, with the occasional blip onto days. I think at this point I'm so used to nights, day shift just drags and wears on me. I don't think I could do handle the one shift on the opposite shift per week, like you had. That would probably wreck me, as well! Today is, indeed, a Federal Holiday. I appreciate the Holiday Pay for having to work. Ha ha! Congrats on your loss! Every little bit counts. And if you don't like that thought, at least it wasn't a gain, yeah? So I'd count it as a positive. What is a food puck? I have a good mental image, frozen animal food stuffs in hockey puck shape, but what, exactly, is it?
Susie - Thanks! I'm trying to keep regular so my posts don't turn into the monster that this one has turned into..... but as you can see this is not working so well for me so far. Ha ha ha! Yeah, the abbreviations can be a bit overwhelming when there are a bunch at once, but I think I'm starting to pick them up. What is Norwex? Makes me think of Pyrex.
Jana - Aw, I'm sorry to hear about your hair. I miss my purple hair, too. And no, not a NSV that anyone wants, but it's still a win. So good for you!
Robin - It can be interesting at times. Frustrating at others. I know I have a lot more gray hair than I probably should thanks to my job. But it's okay. I love my silver. I like to think that I earned every one of those hairs on my head and I'll wear them with pride. Man, I can commiserate with the snow thing. It didn't snow at all here until this month, it seems. We're supposed to get more snow on Wednesday. But, I love snow. So I guess I can't complain too much.
Alright, I think I've babbled enough. I bet this post is going to be massive, and for that I apologize.
