Karen, good luck today. I hope all goes to schedule and that Arya remains calm.
We have about an inch of snow on the ground but now we are getting heavy sleet and it is supposed to change to rain. It will be an interesting weather day.
It is still early so I will BBL.

Yes, thinking of you, Karen.
Woodpecker has a mate! Both like the hummingbird feeder. The bright greenish landscape tape on the trellis in the pot.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Arya seems fine. She was a little anxious when we got home, but is sound asleep next to me right now. What weird weather you're expecting. I guess you will be planning to stay home. What is Iggy's opinion on heat and humidity? I found a calculator on line and that would make his heat index 124. That sounds like Linda's summer weather. YIKES!! I forgot to give you "the rest of the story" on the plant sale booth. I talked to the guy who is in charge of the entire event to let him know that there was a potential issue and he isn't the world's best at conflicts, so I wasn't sure what he would do. As the meeting was starting, I noticed that the 2 members who thought they were going to be in charge of the booth were sitting together, so they apparently worked it out between themselves. That was a good thing because I'm not sure what they head man would have done.
Becky, you were colder than us this morning. I think we got down into the upper 40s and it's currently 52. I hope you will get a nice rebound on your temperatures. Has Scooter's behavior always been so unpredictable? What do you think she would do if she got out of the gate? We got to bed about 8:30 and had to get up at 4:15. It was nice to be the first patient because we got home a little before 11.
Your temps are way lower than ours, Linda! Pretty amazing that you're that cold. How did your plants fare? I had to look really hard to see the woodpecker. Definitely blends in well with the tree branches. How was the museum this morning?
Kathy, enjoy your sunny and 85 degrees. Does your company give you anything as a retirement gift? I got a clock and it never made sense to me when a company gives a retiring employee a clock or a watch, when they are moving into a phase where time doesn't mean as much. Some friends of mine working at another community college all got really nice rocking chairs and I thought that would be an awesome gift.
Doctor was on time and things went relatively on smoothly. I started noticing some redness around the scar on the right foot and he thinks I'm having a reaction to the stitches on the inside that may not have dissolved yet. So he used another type of stitch inside on the left foot. I have a Monday morning follow up appointment and I'm already looking forward togetting this unbandaged, and hopefully the redness and swelling will be down on the other foot by then.
Waving to Liz!

Karen, I am glad the surgery went well and hope the new stitch material works out better than the first kind. I hope the swelling goes down quickly. Meanwhile enjoy your new round of Dr Who. How did the gardeners like your Boomtown scarf? What a relief, I am sure, that the two people worked out the plant sale without the non existent supervision. I am happy to near Arya did better as a free range dog while you were both gone. She never did take to the kennel.
Becky, I hope you remained dry for your errands in Elgin. Is it nice enough for a walk?
Linda, great shot of the woodpecker. I had no idea that a woodpecker could be green. He/she is beautiful. I am glad it has a mate.
Kathy, I hope your afternoon is going well.
Liz, I hope the crazies are leaving you alone.
We had more than an inch of snow-more like 4-and wet from the sleet and rain. I had an appointment with my stylist at 12:30 so I had to shovel half the drive in the drizzle. It was a wild ride out of the neighborhood because the city hadn’t plowed down our street. The main roads were plowed but messy and slushy. It was worth it to get my hair trimmed. I am hoping the next few days of warmer weather takes care of the rest of the slush. It was heavy and parts of my body were protesting. I won’t be putting out the trash bin tonight because I didn’t shovel around the side of the house. I don’t have much trash anyway and the recycling doesn’t get picked up this week.

Chele, Iggy can keep the 89 and that humidity! We're only at 57% which is low for us. That's a lot of snow. Glad you made it to the stylist and back okay.
Becky, it is too hot for this time of year. Hope you warm up some.
Linda, cute picture! Can't believe it's that cold where you are.
Karen, glad to hear everything went well and that Arya is okay. HA on the retirement gift. I was trying to think of anyone that I'd seen retire from my company and I could only think of one couple that retired when they reached 65. Most people either seem to move on or get laid off at some point. We used to be able to choose a decent gift from a catalog for every 5 year anniversary, but they discontinued the choices and now the gifts are pretty lame. I got a block of lucite with the company name on it for my 15th.
Liz, hope you're having a calmer week.

Good afternoon chicks and thanks for the start Chele,
Chele - hope you didn't hurt anything getting out the driveway via shoveling. If you felt better with the hair trim and were safe; then YAY! We are having 3-5 inches of snow here in the city but the temps are supposed to be going up and then later this evening turning to rain.
Kathy - well it's good to know someone is having nice weather! Haven't heard if my DS/DBIL/DN were able to get out of Anguilla with the weather in Philly. Count down is counting down for you!!
Becky - good luck with the shopping and hope that dreary weather becomes brighter! Yesterday was not a good day at work and didn't get home until 7:30pm. Today I am going to try to get out in about 30 minutes if I can.
Linda - lovely picture but crazy weather for you! I have woodpeckers in the neighborhood that announce themselves every year quite strongly!
Karen - so very happy that the surgery went well and hope that the different stitches will work better. Don't like the sound of the redness around the other foot at this point. No knock down drag outs last night with the gardeners, so that is a good thing! Happy to hear that Arya did well in your absence and is snuggling with you now. Am continuing the fight against the forces of evil. They are rampant and many!
Take care, be careful and stay warm everyone!! Ciao for now~

Chele, I'm happy that you were able to get to your appointment and home safely. It's good that you don't have much trash in case you can't get it to the curb. Arya was shaking some when we got home, but she did better than last time. She never did take to being crated and Dale and I were talking this afternoon about putting the crate back over the garage because she is never going to voluntarily use it like we had hoped. Foot doesn't feel that great, but neither did the previous one. Nobody noticed the scarf. Maybe I'm the only Whovian master gardener. No Doctor Who for me today. Dale took the day off so we are catching up on show we've DVRd since the weekend and haven't been able to watch.
I was thinking your business might be more of a move along than a retire from endeavor, Kathy. What a shame that they quit rewarding 5-year anniversaries. Was it because there weren't that many people staying long enough to justify anniversary gifts? So, what can you do with a company imprinted block of lucite? I always thought those things were pretty lame, unless they were designed to commemorate a once in a lifetime event. My former college didn't do things like that. In fact, for the 50th anniversary celebration, everyone got very nice polo shirts with the 50th anniversary logo embroidered on them. I just love functional gifts and still wear my shirt. 57% humidity sounds comfy. It's pouring down the rain here and we are at 97%. It's in the low 50s and we are experiencing thunderstorms at the moment.
Haven't done much this afternoon, but did find myself dozing off a few times. I have to sleep in the boot for the next 3 nights, so sleep will be a relative term. If it wouldn't cause so much family upheaval, I would probably sleep on the couch.

Linda I love your picture.
Karen It's a beautiful sunny day and has gotten up to 62 so far.We get a one day reprieve from the gloomy weather but at least we won't have any freezing temps this week. There is a 70% chance of rain on Friday and it may not get out of I can't remember if they said 40's or 50's tomorrow. One time a couple of years ago Scooter got out on the road and Kenneth had to run after her. That was before she was as heavy as she is now and he had a tough time catching her then. She would never run away but we have not let dogs get free access to the road in years.Too much traffic these days. She only pulls this when I am going too and it's always just when we are leaving.I had forgotten my phone this morning and I sent Kenneth back in for it because my grocery list was on it.She whined at me and when he got out the gate she barked at him.He said she never does that when he goes out to do his stuff in the afternoons.I think she just got so spoiled after she hurt herself now she wants all the attention she can get.I hope your foot isn't hurting too much and I'm glad the surgery went well.I hope the redness goes away on the other foot soon.
Chele It's a beautiful sunny day and I plan to walk shortly.I have already done 30 min on the recumbent bike. You were brave to go to your hairstylist.I wouldn't have ventured out but you are used to it and I'm not.Texans just aren't used to ice or snow.I have heard a lot of schools and businesses have closed up north.
Kathy I hope your temps cool off some.Has it been like that all week?

Karen , glad you are safely home and I hope this one heals fast. Micki would be very upset to be left alone in a crate...hates them.He would feel helplessly trapped with us gone.
bird is actually brownish gray with sort of like black and white tweed on the back.the male has red by neck and top of head. They both showed up togerher hesterday, but tend to come one at a time,
Would you believe another two feet coming in Prescott and Payson and points north and east of there?Hard freeze last night, and we are supposed to get an inch of rain starting tonight and all day tomorrow. Then back to colder again Friday night. This morning we were 22 degrees below norm....ocean warming gave us El Nino! Yard is not happy.
Busy day...museum work this morning, fast dig walk, ate lunch in the car on the way to Questers meeting, home to set up dinner and finally got to sit with coffee just now! Changing the job to Tuesdays as Y, art classes, as other stuff and dr. appt all seem to come on Wed.
Stay warm!
