This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning friends,
Wow. Getting reports of a few road closures and some road flooding down the mountain, standing water, and because of the heavy precipitation several big business have delayed opening for 2 hours. That may be so employees can drive once it's light so they can see these road hazards better. I'm not sure. DHs route appears to be fine from what I can see, but with several more days of predicted heavy precipitation, who knows what will happen.
Lorelei - Sorry, I guess I didn't clearly understand what you were asking for yesterday. But personally, I'd replace points for the items you're looking to drop with protein and healthy fats. I'm totally guessing here, but I'd imagine that there is a bare minimum of 60 years of "diet and weight reduction/maintenance" experience between me, Andi and Susie. Even though we may follow very different plans, I think the one thing we would all agree on is that the closer we eat to "whole foods" the easier our weight loss and maintenance is. We all eat processed foods minimally. Personally, I mostly eat things with as few items on the ingredient list as possible. Suggesting the low carb wrap last night was a real stretch for me, because at this point in my life, I would never actually eat that, but I know many do use such things and have success. So, take it all for what it's worth. None of us would every try to push our beliefs on anyone, but if someone asks.....we're going to answer. Haha. My journey into the world of limited carbs and processed foods stemmed from my acceptance of my sugar/carb addiction and binge eating activity. I used to be a hot mess. Good luck at your meeting today. I hope you have a energetic and inspiring leader.
I'm not sure what's in the plan for today. Whatever it is, it will absolutely have to start with coffee....which is where I'm off to now. Have a wonderful day everyone. BBL

Wow, Lora, that is a LOT of rain and flooding! Glad you don't have plans yet and can see how the roads are if you decide to head out. Just knowing there are more of these days in store would give me an acute case of cabin fever. Which I have here anyway due to the cold and frequent ice storms we're having this year. Another one is due to arrive this afternoon. The freezing rain part of the forecast is particularly problematic.
But, I won't be driving in it, am going to have to take a sick day today. I have no voice at all and got very little sleep, even with the help of Ambien. Not sure I'll be able to nap because the issue is I can't breathe. I've had almost 3 months of super healthy eating - I just assumed it would boost my immune system and I'd never be sick again. Ha. Anyway, I'll drink lots of my favorite herb tea and rest and hang out with the ROs. Not a bad way to spend time at all. If I have the energy later I will make my famous eggplant marinara dish. I love Rao's marinara sauce - Lora, no sugar in it - and it makes the dish taste rich and satisfying. You don't have to breathe in order to cook, right? At some point I know I won't be able to taste anything, which is a drag. OK, done complaining.
Lorelei, I also misunderstood your question. If you want to boost your points with healthy things and not have so many left over at the end of the day, increase your intake of fats (avocado, peanut of almond butter, olive oil) and eat fewer "free" foods so you have room for higher fat yogurt, cheese, and nuts. You won't have any problem reaching the minimum 13 points with those items. Good luck! As Lora said, best to eat the fewest processed items you can. They're not satisfying and they trigger overeating.

Hi Everyone, I dont have to go into work due to the snow coming. The schools are closed for today but as our agency is not dependent on that. They really arent calling for that much in the city- 1-3 inches so in a way I am surprised they called off schools but since it is supposed to fall in the afternoon heavier it will be more difficult on the way home. I think I would have chosen to take the buses today rather than trying to drive home in it. My kids had early dismissal anyway except the extended care kids. Unless they say our agency will close tho, we have to do online trainings. 8 hrs worth. They really dont take 8 hrs to do tho. You can speed thru them. If I get myself moving soon, I may go to the gym for a bit. We'll see. I didnt go to bed until late. Cassie will be glad I will be home. The new washer and dryers have not come yet to our apartment. I am still okay clothes wise. I will have to wear one pair of pants that arent so comfortable tho for Thursday but maybe I will hang in my pjs today and then I can still wear my more comfortable jeans on Thursday. I think that may be a plan. Lol! None of my parents who were scheduled actually came for their conferences. Some of them really want to do it in the morning so they dont have to come back later which I understand but it is just me and they come in later than they should as it is. I have to get the kids going with their routine. Yesterday they tried to make me do extended care too without telling me that until the last minute. I was really mad as I was not expecting to have to do it until next week. I told our director I was mad. They do this all the time giving no advance communication. I said I would do it but it would have nice if it had been communicated to me. In the end they took them to the other room and our director stayed with them. Oh well! Life at that place!! Cant wait until I can retire. I guess I should get moving if I am going to the gym. Have a great day!!

Good morning friends.
My Dr. appointment went well yesterday. I got a quote for what I want to get done and the Dr. seems to think, as long as there are not any complications, I should be able to be working from home after 2 weeks and back in my office week 4. Now I am waiting to find out what my bonus will be in March to determine if I can do everything I want to do or just part of it. I will be doing SOMETHING though. We scheduled a surgery date of May 1st. with everything and they said it wouldn't be a problem to change what I want to have done. I have a pre-op appointment on 4/25 - I will then be out of town that weekend work 2 days and then be off for surgery.
They are going in today to put a filter in DS just in case she has any more blood clots. They also did not do dialysis on her yesterday but I never got a clear answer as to why. I don't know if her kidney functions improved so she didn't need it or what. Fingers crossed it was for a good reason.
Not sure who asked but my DP are back home. They came home on Saturday.
Lora Zeke is doing great with the pup. He was leery at first but he is getting used to her. The other pups are ok. They are all kind of like "Really?" At first Zeke wouldn't even look at her and would walk wide circles around her to avoid her. It was funny. He is trying to play with her now but she gets spooked easily because he is so big and I think it overwhelms her. I think as she gets bigger it will be better.
Loreli my DS went into the hospital on 1/9 to have a hysterectomy and had some complications due to very bad endometriosis and is still in the hospital. She has had complication after complication. We HOPE she is on the mend now but still hesitant to get our hopes up to quickly.
It is cold and sleeting here today but it is supposed to turn to just rain as the day goes on. I had hoped for a WFH day but it did not work out that way for me.
Andi I hope you start feeling better soon.

Hi! I'm back again. The wet stuff has stopped for the moment, but the wind is terrible. Hoping we're not about to see trees coming down, because that will most likely mean losing power for some period of time. Once we get the other house sold, and free up some cash flow, our plan is to get a generator for this house. We've never had one before, but we've also never lived this remotely before. The fireplace here is gas logs, which don't really produce any real heat to speak off, and are just for looks...since it's the only gas item in the house, we don't even have the gas turned on here. I'm not a huge fan of a fireplace that doesn't serve a useful purpose. Lol. Anyway, I've showered and I'm dressed...sort of...if you count yoga tights, a hoodie and fuzzy socks as dressed. I'm not planning on venturing out today. But I think I'll maybe start a crochet project. Not my big rugs, as I don't know where my old sheets for sheet yarn are hiding (in the cold garage, in some unmarked box no doubt...thanks husband), but I di run across my crochet bag with my yarn and normal size needles. I'm thinking maybe a beanie hat. Something simple and mindless. I have some gray yarn and I've been wanted a gray beanie....so there ya go Janet - if you're not planning on getting out today, I'd definitely go with warm cozy jammies or maybe like me, yoga pants and a comfy shirt. It just makes sense. Andi - I'm so sorry you've lost your voice. Maybe this is the end of the worst of it and it's on the mend from here. Fingers crossed! Jana - it sounds like the appt. was good. Yay! And I'm glad to hear the timing seems to be working out for everything. Also great to hear that we have canine harmony at your house. I have to wonder if that little pup is projecting a little Alpha Female vibe to keep Zeke on his toes...Lol. Too funny. Oh...also, what's her name? I may have missed that. Okay...off to refill the coffee mug, find a movie or something to put on Netflix, Prime or Hulu and get started on this crochet project.

Lora the pup's name is Xena. She came with that name and we liked it so we decided to keep it. I end up having nick names for all our dogs so she is becoming Zing Zing to me and my DD. Part of it is her running around so fast and being clumsy and falling over. (Zeke's nickname is Goober dog - cause he is so goofy) DH asked me stop calling her Zing Zing because she was going to get confused about what her name is - but it has already kind of stuck with me - oh well. Zeke is funny about her. He does growl to show his disapproval when she does things like get on HIS bed or is sitting in HIS spot on the chair next to me but he doesn't snap at her or anything. Just a little "hey that's my spot" kind of noise. I told DH that she needs to learn her puppy manners and Zeke is just trying to teach her. DH has definitely been in a good mood since he got her. I think he needed something of his own with me being gone so much lately.
I do not feel like being at work today. I am a little afraid I might be coming down with a cold. I have a headache and scratchy throat. I have spent most of the new year in the hospital so it would not be all that shocking if I got something - but I hope I am not.
I need to get back to some structured eating and exercise. Right now I do not have any plans for any more trips to NC unless DS starts to get worse. I know I will probably go back and spend a weekend here and there but nothing more than weekend trips.
I need to run by my DP's house today. I have some mail for them and I need to get my credit card back from the.

Jana - Xena! I like that. So glad to hear that everybody is getting along fine. I can't even imagine introducing Lily to a new house dog. I mean she's fine when DDs big ol' greyhound is here, but she mostly just ignores him. Even though when they were here at Christmas, and we went to the in-laws, we put Lily in her crate just to make sure she wouldn't be cranky with him, and when we got home we found her asleep in her crate and him asleep on the floor next to her crate. He'd pulled is blanket from the den into our room to hang out with her. I thought it was so sweet of him.
Amanda - did you know last night that there would be a 2 hour delay, so that you could sleep in late? I hope so.

Good afternoon/evening. Snowing here but no real accumulation so far. I was glad not to go out today, took two good naps, just couldn't get warm. I may have been running a low fever because when I took Advil, I all of a sudden got really warm and felt a million times better. I felt pretty lousy most of the day. I'm supposed to go to the city for one of my two monthly meetings tomorrow and am not sure I'll feel up to it. I blew this one off last month because it was minus 3 degrees so hate to miss another meeting due to a cold. At least it will be 50 degrees tomorrow, so that should help.
Jana, glad you have some good options for your surgery. Hope you get to do everything you want to do - you've waited for this a long time. Hope DS continues to improve and you won't have to make any more trips to NC.
Lora, I love the story about Lily and DD's pup.
Janet, how much snow did you end up getting?
I am rescheduling my dinner date tonight with a DF for Friday night, not sure where we'll go yet. DSon and DDIL have taken a trip to Utah to go skiing for a few days and left the nanny and DDiL's DM in charge. DS wants me to come in on Saturday so the nanny can go home. I'm kind of exhausted from all the driving and child care and entertaining, would kind of like to have a weekend to myself, but I'll see how I feel by Friday. I like to help out but it's intense with a 7 month old and an almost 3, no down time at all. Feeling my age these days and not that happy about it.
Have a good evening all.
Amanda, congrats on getting to sleep in this morning.

So, DH just let me know that Friday is a lunch potluck at work. He's stopping on the way home to pick up a couple of items so that I can make a "dessert". I'll be making a keto friendly chocolate & pecan bark using Lily's Chocolate Chips and a little bit of coconut oil, pecans, and a little unsweetened coconut, and the tiniest sprinkle of Himalayan pink salt. The Lily's chocolate chips are a kind of a semi-sweet in flavor and sweetened with stevia. It's really tasty. I hope the bark turns out good, I've never made this recipe before. Supper tonight is one of my favorites, Pederson's Farm no sugar added Kielbasa and sautéed cabbage. One skillet, quick and easy.
Andi - well gosh, I can see where you'd be ready for a weekend of decompression. If you're still not feeling well, then that would be the perfect reason not to go into the city. You wouldn't want to pass that on the little ones...

Oh, also got a text from our agent that someone is showing the ATL house tonight. This will be the first showing. Hopefully they'll fall in love, but if not hopefully we'll at least get good feedback.

Hi ROs...
Amanda - we were fortunate enough to find out last night that there would be at least a 2 hour delay this morning.
The gym didn't open til 9:00 so that took care of my 8:00 class, but DH's PT was still on so we had to decide whether or not to go. DH did NOT want to take a chance of falling. You would have laughed if you had seen me in my robe outside on the sidewalk, driveway, and in the street trying decide if it was black ice, rain, or what - lol! Although there was ice, sleet, slush on my car, it appeared to be only rain on the street so we went. DD texted and needed help with YDGD (Youngest Darling GrandDaughter Lorelei) because of the delayed openings so we took her to PT with us and then breakfast at Cracker Barrel (of course that meant a toy as well - she is 4- ha). We got home and I went to Mah Jongg 2 houses away and DH took a nap. This evening, I picked up DGS and we went to church for dinner. I am enjoying a few minutes alone right now...hope DH does OK in the rain getting into and out of the car alone at his study group.
Hope all of you feeling not quite "up to par" get to feeling MUCH better ASAP!
Lora - fingers crossed on the showing...can't wait to hear how the bark turns out
Jana - yippee for the decision that you WILL do something for you this year.
Janet - so glad you didn't have to go into work today
Andi - I do not blame you for wanted to just rest and CHILL this weekend...last weekend was REALLY busy (well worth it, but still a lot going on). You need some rest to help you get better.
OK..DH will be coming in the door soon, so I need to get 5 minutes of peace and quiet - night all

Hi again, I didnt go to the gym. Just as I was keaving the snow was beginning to come down a bit heavier. I am only a few minutes away but I figured by the time I would be done the car would be covered and I dont know if I felt driving in it. Its supposed to be raining most of it away. Around where I live I really dont think we got more than 2-3 inches it seemed. I went out later to get the snow off and I didnt even have to dig myself out so glad about that. Our agency closed at 1 pm so we didnt have to do 8 hrs of the trainings only 4. I finally put my little vacuum cleaner together. For some reason I had more difficulty putting the screws in it than the last time. Then I realized that I didnt have the handle the way I wanted facing so had to unscrew it. I think last time I must have used a phillips screwdriver and this time I had used a different one. Once I used the Philips it stayed in. I guess I didnt have the fix it luck today like Lora. I guess its back to work tommorow. Ugh!! Have a good remainder of the night.
