This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning and (hopefully) Happy Thursday to everyone.
We're plugging along to the weekend. I'm not going to mention the weather here, it won't be hard for you to imagine what I would write if I did... Geeze. I've been up for about an hour. I rinsed a few dished from last night, got the dishwasher started, made a pot of life giving elixir (coffee) and now I'm sitting down for a moment to hand with you girls.
Not much on the plan for today, not with this weather. I'll make the pecan bark for DH to take to work tomorrow and work on my crochet some more. And probably a little laundry. So exciting...don't be jealous. Haha!
I started 2 different hats yesterday, but was a little distracted by a documentary on Hulu so couldn't count stitches properly and ended up setting both aside. One is just a basic beanie, the other is a "messy bun" or "pony tail" design with the whole at the top for your hair. I also woke up with a crick in my left shoulder & neck this morning. Not sure what that's about, but it needs to go away, it's not debilitating painful but completely annoying.
Well, I hope everyone is warm and safe and that your weather is not too bad. I'll check back later.

Good morning Lora and ATF. I was watching Accuweather last night to see what was happening with our own storm and saw the band of rain over you is impressive - they talked about all the flooding and it doesn't look like there's an end in sight. I'm glad you're on the top of a mountain! Hope your shoulder and neck improve - I hate when I get that, luckily not that often.
I'm going to take another day at home today and not try to go to the city. I did get some sleep last night without drugs, although interrupted, plus had some very weird digestive issues which seem to be over with this morning. My voice is still pretty much gone and I'm still congested but am definitely on the mend, just drained.
Nothing much else to report here, will check back in later.

Andi - glad you're finally on the upswing...even if it's just a little. I think taking another day at home is a good idea. Just relax and let your body mend itself. I don't get the neck/shoulder crick very often either. Years ago it happened a lot. Hopefully it will resolve quickly. And yes, our rain band is HUGE, and very annoying. I don't mind the cold so much, but the cold and drippy wet combined it just annoying. It's a good thing I'm mostly okay with sticking close to home. Haha.

Good morning friends!
My mood is much improved. I feel optimistic for probably the first time this year.
Lora I am sharing your woes about the weather. My back yard is a huge muddy mess which means with 5 dogs in the house, my house is a huge muddy mess.
Andi I am glad to hear that you are on the mend. I hope you continue to feel better.
DH and I got into a small tiff last night over the pups. He got angry with Zeke because he snapped at Xena - it's not so much that he got angry it is more that he let it affect his mood for the whole rest of the evening. He knew when he got a puppy that we were going to have to give Zeke time to acclimate to her. I don't know, it just frustrated me. I ended up going upstairs with Zeke and letting him and the puppy have the downstairs.
I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Jana - it's great to hear you sounding so positive and up. I know it's been a rough start to 2019 for you and your family. Sorry about the little dust up over the pups. It probably just scared DH more than anything, but I think that is kind of normal older dog/younger dog behavior to set boundaries. As long as it doesn't go any further than a little growl or a snap it should be fine. I mean, if he'd wanted to bite her and hurt her, he certainly could have, right? Sounds like he was just sending a warning for her to back off.

Good Morning ... I decided not to go to the gym class this morning...just too much going on today. I have to do my Spanish hw, then head to my Royal British history class, then go to a lecture at the VA History Museum, then back for my Spanish class, then to a church women's group tonight.
Hey Lora... I think I would like a day to do nothing but sit at home - so different from your "former" life - feast or famine ...right?? HAVING to stay due to horrific rain and flooding is awful though. I have had that neck crick several times in the last 2 week....weird.
Andi - sorry for the continued congestion, et al...good for you in taking another day to recuperate.
Jana - YIPPEE...good to hear you sounding optimistic. Sorry about the tiff with DH - I think I would go crazy with 5 dogs in the house - lol - I do often miss having one though.
OK... off and running

Good morning everyone -
We had a bit of drama here last night - i got home from work a little late and shortly after finishing dinner, the power went off and came back on after about 2 minutes. Then it went off again for a longer period of time. So there were some things I would have liked to do last night that didn't get taken care of but that's what tonight is for, right? So I'll just need to be focused after work.
Did I tell you all that I have my youngest nephew and my niece staying with me tomorrow night? That's what I have to get ready for. I also have a couple of other things to focus on this weekend, including starting to pack for my next Disney trip (next weekend).
Anyway I have to get working on some stuff - Andi, so glad you got some sleep! Jana, I'm glad you're in a better mood. Lora, have you been crocheting for a while or is this new?

Susie - you always have so many commitments daily, I can't say I'd blame you at all for thinking a day of nothing sounds good. Lol
Amanda - I'm a mood crocheter. Mostly I start things and don't finish them and go back to them when the mood strikes. Haha. Although those rag rugs I was doing last fall were finished (all 2 of them...Haha) and I actually use them here at the new house. I think I actually finished them because they are big and bulky and add up to something of significance quickly. Girl, if I were you, I'd just set aside a certain set of clothes and designate them as "Disney" clothes. When you get home from a trip just launder and fold them and set them aside...then they're ready to just throw in your bag and off you go. Lol

Hi again.
Amazingly enough I am getting caught up at work. Even with the monthly meeting here today and all the interruptions from my techs. Most of them have not seen me at all this year so I was expecting tons of "I need this" "can you help me with?" etc. Maybe they don't need me as much as I think they do - LOL or maybe they have figured out they can do a lot of these things themselves.
Waiting to hear from DBIL about DS CT scan. This whole experience is making me really question Drs. in general. Since DS has been in the hospital we get so many conflicting stories and I don't know if Drs. are overworked or just don't care or what - but we can tell them one thing, have the nurses confirm it and they either don't pay attention or they just don't care - because they do not do anything or wait weeks and then be like- Oh, I didn't realize this was happening. Even though we had been telling them the whole time it was happening. Example - DS developed a fistula and started having some vaginal drainage (I think I told you all about it) we were told it was a pocket of fluid that was left over from the last surgery. DBIL, DS and myself noticed that the drainage increased and decreased depending on how much she ate or drank. We did not understand how what she was eating or not eating could affect "a pocket of fluid". We have all brought it up to the Drs' attention several times. NOW the surgeon is saying that she thinks the drainage is because of the colonoscopy has retracted and the drainage is coming from that and until that is corrected the drainage will not stop.
Sorry gotta run -

I'm on a 2-hour conference call, which is a LOT easier than going to the meeting in-person, but I find I am getting more and more impatient with this part of my work. I need to arrange for this to be my last year on this planning body, which means I'll also give up chairing a subcommittee, which is fine with me. Those of us calling in today didn't receive all the documents under review so I'm half listening and came here instead to post. People on the phone can't vote so my participation today is truly marginal.
Beautiful day out but I only was outside for 5 minutes when I took my garbage to the dumpster. 50 degrees and sunny. See, Lora, we have great weather in the northeast, hahaha.
Jana, everything you describe about DS's hospitalization reminds me so much of what we went through when my DM was hospitalized 10 years ago now. It all seemed so chaotic and rushed with conflicting stories and recommendations for treatment. And of course my DM was pretty demented following surgery and although I had her health care proxy, the staff kept asking her what she wanted and deferred to her even though DM had been really clear, when her mind was clear, with me what her wishes were. Ugh, a real mess. Hopefully your DS will continue to improve and with DBIL be able to advocate effectively.
Aside from blowing my nose a lot, I'm feeling a lot better and will go to work tomorrow. I plan to go out to dinner with a DF who I had to reschedule yesterday tomorrow night. I've been to that restaurant many times before so I know I can get food I can eat there. Hopefully I'll be able to taste things - right now my sense of test is affected by the stuffed nose... DSon told me that he is sick too, has the same cold, but he's out in Utah and supposed to be resting and skiing. Hopefully he's not as sick as I was yesterday and can still enjoy his trip.
Have a good evening.

Amanda - hoping for no glitches tonight and get get everything accomplished that you wanted to do last night
Lora - I like the idea of the Disney clothes for Amanda - lol!
Andi - had to laugh at the "half listening" and coming here - hey, more positive vibes here...right? When you retire, all of this will be over. I guess the whole family got that cold, crud, whatever it is....
Jana - Hey...maybe your co-workers can put on their "big boy/girl pants" and handle something on their own instead of driving you crazy! Praying for the CT to result in good news.

Okay, so just a brief ATL house update...kind of. We didn't really get any feedback on the showing from last night, but our agent just messaged us that she'd just gotten off the phone with the agent who'd showed it last night. Apparently it was just the wife that saw it last night, and they're going back tonight with the husband. Yay! Even if this one goes nowhere, at least if gives us hope that someone liked it enough to go back for another look. Right?

Definitely, Lora!!! Really good sign. Hang in there - it hasn't been long and I think you said there were 3 other houses in your development that are on sale as well. I'm sure it will go quickly.

Andi - there are 3 other houses on our street including ours. Ours has the most expensive list price at the moment, but it's also the biggest of the 3, has a largest lot of the 3, and is actually has the lowest price per sq. foot of the 3. The other two are literally across the street and 3 houses down in opposite directions. Lol. We also have the benefit of the new HVAC systems, new gutters, new carpet, a new master shower, new water heater, new windows, a newly redone crawlspace (both insulation and vapor barrier were just replaced). Newly service septic, garage door and active termite bond. We're also selling to include all major appliances - including washer and dryer. So if it's somebody coming out of an apt. or something, they can move right in without even having to make a stop at Home Depot. OR if they have their own already, they can always sell one or the other and make a little cash on the deal. And all of the work we had done has warranties that are transferrable to new owners. We really did try to take away reasons for anyone to say no. Lol. And yes, it hasn't been long. The sign went in the yard at noon Saturday, and the MLS listing didn't hit until Monday, so not even a week yet. We're just excited that it's seeing activity. Oh look....I'm all caffeinated and rambling again. Sorry.
