I hope everyone is well. Just checking in quickly. I have been up early again. Thanks for the start, Karen. I have done my workout and the tomato sauce and meatballs are made and simmering. I am going to make a loaf of whole wheat bread later. My allergies have been triggered and may take a day or two to calm down. I am not feeling real perky at the moment. I might be back later. Take care of yourselves. Oh, Becky. Congrats on the loss.
Happy Banana Bread Day. I made one last week because I had really ripe bananas and promptly froze it.

Good Morning again and thanks for the start Karen.
I just lost the post I had started so I am restarting once again.
Karen - how are the feet doing? Have you been able to now take the boot off? How is the pain level and are you continuing to manage it holistically? I hope that you will get the all clear from the doctor on Mon. so that you can take that much awaited non-flamingoesk shower! The week was not a good one which I know is shocking (not); but I can honestly say it was much more about emotional stress and frustration than anything. It is quite brutal when someone you have mentored, helped and quite literally provided assistance to decides to betray you and cause hell and upheaval to occur. I am just trying to digest and get through the next week and then hope I'll be able to do my work and minimize my contact with this young woman. She has brought complete upheaval to my world and although she received a really good PF, has stated to the VP and my new boss that I have "hurt" her. Apparently honesty is not a popular thing to do in writing. when one thinks so highly of their self. I could go on and on and probably need a therapy session but this too shall pass and the world moves on. How is Arya doing with Dale lately? I certainly know that insurance is exorbitant even with good plans let alone contemplating it once one retires. DS/DBIL and DN all got home safely and had a great time in Anguilla and visiting my nephew. I am looking forward to him getting home in April I believe.
Kathy - this is the last few days coming up for you correct? How great it will be to not contemplate getting up and going to the unclean rat row farm for work! It sounds like you have the most reasonable weather right now; we are down almost 10 inches of snow from last year and most of what we have seen comes down incrementally and then turns to sleet and/or rain. Temps are in the mid 40s today with rain coming tonight and snow still on the ground that's frozen. I suppose the one nice thing for this week was I was given the opportunity to receive a new desk set-up as our Facilities design team needed to do a mock-up and I was chosen for reasons still unknown. So instead of my 30+ year old wooden banker's desk and return, I now have a rather sleek and ergonomically correct Steelcase desk with return, a new file cabinet and overhead storage with a tack board. It will force me to clear out the 9 years of accumulated stuff I have and definitely declutter for a better look. Any ideas of where you might vacation in the spring? I have found a beach house in Kill Devil Hills that I think we are going to rent for the 3rd week in May. No more hurricanes!!
Chele - how are you feeling this morning? It seems that we are having somewhat similar weather patterns lately and that Linda is having off the charts craziness! How are you doing being on that Singapore time with Iggy? Any plans to do some shopping today? I have a hair appt. at 10:am and then will do my monthly stop into Whole Foods on the way home. Other than that I need to hit the pet store for the pups food and then hopefully just relax.
Linda - you definitely win the award for most outrageous weather in your state! That picture of the hail was impressive and your snow accumulations are far more than most of us in the NE. Which gel shot are you going for this time? I am pretty impressed with the difference between the 3 shots I did out of pocket on the left knee efficacy and the Gel One that I just had a couple weeks ago on the right injured knee. How are you feeling this morning? Did the Vick's and bed snuggling work? At this point I think I will be grateful if I don't drop over before I get to retire!
Becky - how has the biking been for you? Were you able to walk yesterday? Congrats on the 2.2 loss!! Your weather has also been really unpredictable with big fluctuations. How are the fur kids doing as well as Kenneth? I will try to get some rest in this weekend. I had a busy day yesterday and did almost 14K steps which the body and the knees reminded me of big time! It's amazing to me that we will be setting clocks ahead in mid March with is not so very far at all.
Have a safe and nice day dear ladies; ciao for now!

Thanks for the start Karen.I hope your foot feels better today.
Chele Thanks and I hope your allergies calm down.
Liz I'm sorry you had so much emotional stress from work.If this person got a good PF I don't understand her problem and I'm sure you don't either.I know you couldn't have hurt her but I know she has hurt you and I hope this can pass quickly. The biking has been fine.No walk yesterday because of drizzling rain. The sun has finally made an appearance but also with gusty winds so hopefully a walk will be in my future if it's not too windy later.I will do one round on the bike regardless.Kenneth is fine and so are the fur babies.Scooter will enjoy the sunshine but not the wind.In fact she just ran in here like a black tornado.Maybe 14K steps is too much for one day.Get some rest this weekend.
Waving to Kathy,Linda and Karen.

Liz, from what you have said about work, I doubt your bosses really care about hurt feelings...they are now smiling at her , but looking at her as a snowflake pita wondering what she will say about them.
Watching the eaves drip as ICE melts off the roof in the sun. that is a new one here.

Chele, I'll bet your house smells amazing! Did you make actual meatballs or beanballs? Is the mold what's triggering your allergies? I hope your bread turns out well. Sometimes humidity does strange things in the Zo. Are you going to bed any earlier or just geting up earlier? I slept pretty well last night, considering. Over an hour of deep sleep, which was more than my awake time, and 30% REM. Got to sleep pretty quickly but stilll had that 2 am wake up for some reason.
What is the deal with your employee, Liz? If she reports to you, minimizing contact isn't easy. If she is only verbalizing to your chain, maybe she is just seeing what kind of reaction she gets from them and/or from you. I think "young" may be the operative word. Could it be an action that is part of her generational norm? If so, I would just go on as usual because if she's like many of them, she will move on soon. They don't stay in one place for long. I hope you do have someone you can talk to, coworker, or even a professional; and of course we're here for you. Arya is doing well with Dale. In fact, she was wound up at breakfast and my trick to that is to make her sit before I feed her. He tried the same trick this morning and it worked like a charm. You're down that far on normal snowfall for the year? That's amazing, given everything they have been getting in the midwest. Great news on finding a great KDH house for before Memorial Day. Something to look forward to and before the official start of hurricane season, so you hopefully won't get evacuated. The new desk sounds very nice and a really good excuse for decluttering. Wish I had a WF near by. There's one in Knoxville but I have no idea where. What are you feeding the pups now?
Becky, LOL on the black tornado rushing in. Funny that Scooter is fearful of the wind while she is outside, and it terrifies Arya inside instead. 14K steps is ok as long as you work up to it. Good luck gett some non windy walking time.
Ice melting off the roof is not the norm for you, Linda. I hope you don't have any outdoor plans for today. Is the festival still on for tomorrow?
Are you doing grocery shopping today, Kathy, or did you go yesterday? How much deep cleaning do you need to do to get ready to remodel your former home office area?
You should see our lake! It's been raining like crazy here since we went to bed last night and we are up nearly 7 feet. I think we will be up another 10 feet before the rain ends. Hopefully TVA won't do another major flush and we will continue to have waterfront. It's muddy water, but it's water nonetheless. All this rain has caused another major rock slide on I-40 near the TN/NC line, so we would have to go the back way to get to Asheville right now. I wish they would just erect barriers along that entire section of road to keep this from happening again. There have been times that stretch of road has been closed for months. I had a pretty good night and have had the boot off except when I was on my feet today. It will be nice to sleep under the covers tonight. I have spent the morning researching how to grow microgreens hydroponically and if I think I can grow enough for both of us, I think we will replace store bought salad with those and skip the risks of food-borne bacteria. It will be cheaper, after the initial investment, and fresher without the risk of their going bad because we will harvest just before we eat them. I'll probably also start doing a variety of sprouts that way as well, including cruciferous ones. Getting in my cruciferous veggies is a problem for me. That would make it so much easier.
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend so far. BBL

Liz, I am sorry that this young woman felt it necessary to whine to your boss. Performance reviews are supposed to provide honest feedback not give everyone a gold star. I agree with Linda's assessment. I once had a co-worker who I considered a friend throw me under the bus trying to get a promotion. It is not a good feeling, but some people don’t care who they step on to try to gain favor and they are not worth the angst. You are a good and fair person and the people who matter appreciate you. 14k steps are way too much for your poor body. I hope you have your feet up and are surrounded by adoring pups. No shopping for me today. I went to the grocery yesterday and fueled the car. I got $0.60 off fuel with my Kroger card.
Linda, that picture of the hail on your planket is amazing. I can’t believe how cold you are. I hope you have some thermal underwear for tomorrow’s outdoor activities. I bet Micki is greatful for his coat.
Becky, the allergies are still dragging me down along with the lack of sleep. I did manage a 10 minute power nap after lunch. Any plans after services tomorrow?
Kathy, I hope you are enjoying your last weekend before retirement. Just think you don’t have to have work clothes any more. Mid 80s with low humidity is not too bad.
Karen, I made actual meatballs for Iggy. I have some Gardein meatless meatballs for me. The dust from spring cleaning stirred up the allergies and Accuweather says dust and dander are high today. I am glad you got some better quality sleep last night. That is so important for healing. I have been averaging 5 hours sleep since Iggy has been gone. I have been worried about his state of mind. Growing your own greens would be a lot safer for sure. If anyone can figure out a plan to grow them hydroponically it is you. Are the cruciferous veggies hard in your digestion or you just don’t like them.
I made the whole wheat bread earlier and let the machine cool and am now baking a pepperoni and mozzarella bread for Iggy. We have a high wind warning for tomorrow from 4 am to 10 pm. I hope that doesn’t delay Iggy’s flight out of Detroit.

Karen When Scooter runs in she is so fast she is like a black tornado.Sometimes I call her a bull in a china shop.I don't know if she is so much scared of the high wind as it bothers her ears.I get 14K steps in fairly regularly but I was telling Liz since it hurt her maybe it was too much in one day.I rode 30 min on the recumbent bike so I would get in some exercise in case I didn't walk but it is 75 and sunny and even though the wind was strong I enjoyed the walk.It was bothering my ears also which is why I think that is what Scooter doesn't like about it.I'm glad you slept better last night.I know it will feel better to get between the covers tonight.
Chele I'm glad you got a small nap in anyway. No plans after church tomorrow. We don't get our SS checks until Wednesday so we are waiting until then to eat out.We didn't go anywhere today which is unusual for us.Gas prices here have really gone up.I hope Iggy gets home safely and on time.

Karen, we did grocery shopping today and it was fairly quiet. I just never know at that store. I'm not sure I'd call this a remodel. I had a laptop, docking station, monitor, and keyboard on the dining room table, plus some other work clutter. Now that the computer stuff is gone, I mainly need to clean up the clutter. Then it will be back to its original purpose which was a dining room table! I saw something today about the road to Cade's Cove being closed due to flooding. Can't believe how much rain you've gotten. Are you still using the Aerogardens?
Chele, the pollen is coating everything here. Hope the allergies aren't too bad. Clearing my closet of the work clothes will be nice. We've gotten so casual that I don't wear most of them anymore anyway. The lower humidity really makes a difference in making the mid 80s feel comfortable. I think a front is moving through tomorrow and it will be a little cooler. Hope Iggy's flight can leave on time and he has a safe trip home.
Liz, so sorry to hear about the woman whining about her performance review. Somehow I doubt this is giving the bosses a good impression of her. It is brutal when someone betrays you like that and I hope things get back to normal soon. I've never understood how people can do that, especially to someone that's helped them out. The new desk sounds really nice and is a good reason to declutter. I had more stuff at home to take back than I have at work since we don't have desks or storage. Yes, this will be my last work week which doesn't even seem real yet. That's great that you got a beach house in May and won't have to worry about hurricanes this year. I'm not sure where we're going yet. It depends on DS's schedule and I haven't had a chance to talk to her about it yet. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend and can forget about work for awhile.
Linda, that's unbelievable that you have ice on your roof! I can't complain about my weather at the moment. It's supposed to be a little cooler next week, so sounds perfect.
Becky, you're probably right on the wind bothering Scooter's ears. 75 and sunny sounds pretty nice even if it was windy.

Gee, thanks, Linda. We need more rain. I just got a weather notification that they have decided we are in a 100 year flood. So I hope the storms will veer either north or south of us because we sure don't need any more.
Chele, I haven't seen the Gardein meatballs around here yet. Are they soy based? With the rain and snow you've been having, I'm surprised dust is an issue. Or is it because you're having to keep the house closed up so it's accumulating indoors? I don't know what it is with cruciferous veggies. I get into phases where I want them and eat them every day and then at times they go bad in my fridge. Sometimes I like them raw and sometimes cooked, and it seems like I want them the way I don't have them available between those two forms. Anyway, I think if they were my salad, I would get the benefits without having the veggies without the waste. Digestion is another part of the issue, especially with cauliflower, which I love to eat but doesn't love me back. Growing them hydroponically actually sounds very easy and I could use the same grow light set up I already hav downstairs, so I would just need to get trays, growing medium (possibly coconut coir mats), and seeds. Is the pepperoni and mozzarella bread also a Zo recipe? I hope the high winds don't affect Iggy's travel. When does he leave Singapore, or is he already on the way?
It will definitely be great to get between the covers tonight, Becky. I got cold in the middle of the night the past couple of nights and there were too many layers between me and the electric mattress pad, so there was no reason to bother turning it on. It really is unusual for you to not go anywhere. How was it being a homebody? Our gas prices also seem to be going up. Haven't heard why. Have you?
Kathy, how odd about the grocery store today. When does UCF go on spring break? Your description of your work environment was downright depressing. I agree that it's a miracle you stayed as long as you did. No, it doesn't sound like an actual remodel but returning your dining room back to its original purpose. I'm sure there is plenty of cleaning to be done. How long have you had the option to occasionally work from home? I hadn't heard about Cades Cove, but I'm not a bit surprised. We figure The Island in Pigeon Forge is probably under water. I haven't checked the local news websites to see about pictures they might be posting. According to Weather Underground, we have had 3.24 inches of rain today. I am not currently using the Aerogardens. I was burning out pumps for some reason that I couldn't figure out and herbs were about all I could get to grow before the pumps went. I was using distilled water so it makes no sense. I tried doing salad greens in them but, even with both of them going, I could never get enough to harvest a salad for both of us. I think after the initial investment, I will get a lot more yield than I did from the Aerogardens. I may try to use the Aerogardens to quickly grow some greens or herbs to sell at the master gardener plant booth for the flower and garden show, since they grow faster. Good luck with the closet cleaning. I got rid of a bunch of office wear and did keep a few pair of dress pants and about half my jackets, most of which I finally donated a month or so ago. But there are a few that I just love and can't seem to part with--at least yet.
Our rain has stopped for now but we are expecting a little more over night. My favorite local TV news doesn't have a broadcast on Sunday mornings, so I'll have to check out one of the other stations in the morning to see what they show. We are, of course, out of danger because we sit up on a hill 50 feet or so above the lake. I just hope my lettuce beds and garlic plants are getting sufficiently drained, especially the garlic. I would hate to lose my entire crop.

Coming home after supper as we came up over the freeway higher I got a great view of snow topped mountains nearby to the east...the Superstitions.
Dh wanted to try new Japanese all you can eat mostly sushi place. Neither of us likes fish! I hate sushi ....fish or not, but we went. I like other Japanese things. had a noodle soup, fried rice and appetizers and banana dessert..ok but not worth $22 plus $2 for iced tea.! lot of indigestion. He liked it. There are better places.
I have had a couple teacher colleagues who did not like having a woman in charge...they were also lazy and not that good. They did what they coukd to stir up mischief. The principle then was no fool though.

Linda, congrats on being able to uncover your plants. I know they will enjoy the sunshine and hopefully warmer temperatures. It's baseball spring training, so it shouldn't be so cold and wet there! We have sun today as well. And the lake is 24 feet higher than it was a week ago. We have gotten nearly 4 inches of rain. Your rain will get to us about Thursday and we may get snow on Saturday. It's still winter. We have the high winds today and hit a 38 mph gust a few minutes ago. Poor Arya can't nap because of the noisy winds. Surprising that Bob liked the restaurant if he doesn't like fish. I have never been a huge fan of sushi, but there is something about the sushi our local place makes that I absolutely love it! They also have an awesome seaweed salad that is tasty as well as being extremely healthy. Sorry about your indigestion. It's good that you have so many other options where you live. I can see a couple of different dynamics with your lazy coworkers and it's good that the principal had a realistic view of the situation. Did the coworkers move on to another school or out of teaching eventually? Love the poem! I'm there right now with my current physical limitations. But I'm planning for how I am going to change my diet and exercise after I am fully mobile once again so I can climb that mountain--literally.
Did you get some R&R, Liz? Have you booked your house at KDH for May? What rental company do you use? We always used B&B and you may remember that their HQ burned down a couple of years ago. I guess they have rebuilt by now. We still have a few of the swag items we received when we checked in the times we stayed in their houses. There is a little sand bucket that I use for fertilizing the garden bed and an awesome drawstring beach bag that I use for non-perishable foods any time I go out of town. Do you have a rheumatology appointment scheduled yet?
Waving to the rest of the gang. BBL
