Sorry about the delivery Judy. Hate when that happens. Enjoy the pep talk.
Just came back from a hood walk. Felt good to be out and about.
Now I need to make a pit stop to Walmart and Tractor Supply for LuLas food.
Waving.....

Good late morning all. Happy to report that the roof is done...just in time as Mother Nature decided to bless us with more snow! This February has been the pits in the weather department. Happy that I don't have to go out and 'deal with it'. Decided that one a month to keep up my lifetime weight watchers status is all I'm going to do for now. Don't want to make the 3 hour round trip to go to Leominster weekly and the little meeting here in town...I just don't feel comfortable with it. Took me awhile to come to this decision as I was such a firm believer in the weekly meetings...but things have changed. Who knows...maybe later I'll re-think things. I do track on paper LOL as long as on the weight watcher site and I do weigh in daily on my wii, so that I can still keep tabs on my weight that way. Plus, I have you gals and the other places that I post to keep me 'honest' Wishing all a wonderful day. Stay safe and dry

Good morning!
What a week!!! Monday was a hospice day with a lengthy visit to an actively dying patient whose family needed some encouragement, Tuesday was a hospice day with travel to patients' homes, followed by an RCIA meeting. I totally missed lunch and just had time to grab a snack before the RCIA meeting. I finally got dinner at 8PM. Yesterday, I was up early and in BTR for an all-day Alzheimer's Education Conference. I had to leave there early to make it to my credit union board meeting on time. The conference was very good and as an added pleasure, DD1 got to go and we sat together and lunched together.
The credit union meeting was only an hour, but we always go out to dinner afterwards. The service at the restaurant was VERY slow and we waited an hour to get food. I ordered my favorite dry rub ribs, but half were way over-cooked, dry and inedible. I got double veggies and skipped the starch, since I had a bag of chips and a cookie with my box lunch. I did skip one slice of bread in the sandwich, but then splurged on a piece of Mardi Gras king cake at break. Sigh...I did manage to get home by 9:00 PM.
I am slow starting this morning. Three full days has me pooped, even though I had a good night's sleep. I have 3 hospice visits to make and a ton of paperwork, so need to get on the road. DH has lots of meetings with the Cultural District this afternoon and evening, so I will have to get home at a decent hour to pull something together for dinner.
Judy - I hate when people don't show up when they say they will. Delivery and repair services are the worst. They should at least give you a call to let you know they are running late. I am all over the place with my eating and exercise, or lack thereof, these days. I know what I need to do, but am struggling to stay committed for more than a day or two at a stretch. Witness yesterday's indulgences. I am still unable to go to yoga and have been very slack in doing what I can at home, or doing something else. I really need to spend some time with my Beck book and one of the Beck threads.
Ann - A 3 hour round trip to weigh in would be a bit much for me. Maybe try the closer meeting again? I find the cast of characters changes frequently and you may feel more comfortable. It may be worth a look-see anyway. Glad the roof is done. I'm sure it's a load off your mind.
Sue - I'm sorry you and your DH have been under the weather. Allowing your body to rest was probably the best medicine you could give it. The older I get, the more I realize how important this is when I am sick. Do you still have heat when the electricity is out? We are all-electric, so have nothing but water when the electricity goes out.
Have a great day!

Happy Thursday all! Another snowstorm overnight so I got my exercise shoveling the end of the driveway where the plows plow us in again over and over! I actually took off part of my front bumper a couple weeks ago going over snow that looked softer. Ugh. The joys of winter. Luckily, my handy Dh fixed it.
Ann, wow, that was quick that you got the roof fixed! I am impressed since so many lost shingles and siding, etc. My poor co-worker had a lot of vinyl siding blown off her house. She said with her luck, insurance will call it an Act of God and won't cover it. She said "God's got a lot better things to do than rip off my shingles!" She has a good sense of humor about it all. Ann, that is a heckuva long way to go for a WW meeting - 1.5 hours each way. Yikes. I don't blame you.
Pam, I am absolutely exhausted when I read your very busy volunteer schedule. You do more than I do with a full time job - it's incredible and such good work and so worthwhile. You are like some of my friends who say they had to go back to work full time to ease up on their volunteer schedule! :-) I am afraid my yoga is falling by the wayside due to cancellations and snow, etc. By the time I get home at night, I only really have energy to get dinner together for the two of us and the after we clean up, it's time to relax a bit and then bedtime. I am starting to really feel it these days - age!
Sue, I hope all is well with you and that you are recovering nicely.
Hey, did any of you see the news that our WW may be in financial trouble? Their stock plummeted yesterday. I worry that the change to a workshop WW instead of the old Weight Watchers may not have been the right move. There are so many choices today and ideas online, too. I just hope that the weekly meetings and original premise stay on track.
Have a good day everyone!

Judy can't help but lol on what your friend said about her siding.
I did read that about weight watchers on the Drudge report. Sad as the origional concept of it helped lots of people, myself included.
We got about 4" of snow and it's already melting.
I plan on hanging at home today. Have a few phone calls to make and then will read for a bit.
Pam and Sue wishing you a good day.

Ann, I guess WW was in a bit of financial trouble when they decided to switch to the Workshop concept and they thought having Oprah would help them. I guess we all have so many choices and so much more online, but I pray WW does not go away with weekly meetings, etc. I need it!

I knew something wasn't right when they did away with the GHG's which to me trains people out right how to eat. For example our lecturer leader coach or whatever knew and improved word they choose to change it to asks for a volunteer to read the weekly as we follow along and we talk about it! Even though this meeting is a stone's throw from my home I have better things to do. I can read it online and plan and track my meals. My older place in Leominster was good. We had a great group of people but little by little they started attending less and less . I do miss the old group.. Things change and not always for the best. I hope meetings don't go away.

Good morning all. Another cold day on tap for us here. I'm debating on whether or not I'll bundle up and go for a walk. Time will tell.
Need to pick up a few things in town today as I avoid the markets on a weekend. Way too busy to deal with.
Wishing all a great and OP Friday. Will pop in later.

Hey all! Happy March and T-G-I-F!! Not sure what is on tap for the weekend. DH and I were going to take a ride to the Cape to check on things, but now they are predicting snow. He may take a quick trip down on his own. I don't want to get stuck in a snowy situation because I am going to a play on Sunday with a friend and her church group. It's called All Bark and No Bite and it's supposed to be hilarious! Can't wait. I do have to make a trip to the Cape before the end of March to get my summer clothing to take to FL at the end of the month. Next weekend, DH and I are heading to NJ to attend our DDIL's baby shower (well, I am going to the shower and he will hang out with our son at their house and probably help lug baby gifts home.) I'm glad he wants to go with me as it's a long drive and our DS is very happy to have his dad there, too.
I made it to Water Aerobics last night. I figured I had given the eyebrows enough time as they are all healed and look fine. I enjoyed the deep water exercises. It was just me, the instructor and two lovely Albanian women. They were cute sister in laws.
Tonight I am planning to make Spinach Pesto Orecchiette with Shrimp and Mushrooms from the WW site. I have shrimp in the freezer to use up.
Knitting at noon with the ladies and I have my salad and half a pork chop to finish up. Breakfast was a poached egg on that delicious new bread I found - Schmidts 647 Bread for 1 pt. It tastes like REAL bread and not too skinny.
Make it a great day!

Wow Judy...you have such a fun weekend planned. Enjoy each and every moment. The only 'excitement' here is a tree in our yard is going to be cut down. This pine tree is HUGE and is leaning toward the street. The manager of the place we live had her worker take a look at it and decided that yes, it needs to go. Perhaps today...but not sure.
Judy where did you find the Schmidts bread? Sounds good.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
I have been really remiss in posting this week, sorry about that! I do sometimes peek in and catch up with all of you even if I don’t have time to add anything.
TGIF! I am off today and since I have a breakfast date (with a cousin) tomorrow and then a Red Hat outing out to a dinner theatre on Sunday, I am staying in and taking it easy today. Seems to make sense to me.
Judy ~ Sorry your delivery person left you waiting. I also hate that!! You upcoming plans sound like fun! I so agree with you about hoping WW survives this storm, as I also NEED it!! I waited a long time to join this because I knew when I did it would be a lifelong commitment. It just can’t “go away”!!
Ann ~ Sorry about your WW meeting. I also saw on the news the other night about WW dropping in stock and Oprah losing a TON of money! I wondered why they changed the name and all the program names so abruptly. Those who always trusted WW may be put off by that – not to mention all the other “diet” choices online. I do hope our program survives!! I also stopped my local weekly meeting when people kept dropping and they moved the location and the leader changed (twice!) and I got discouraged. But only with that meeting (which now is defunct anyway) not with the Program!
Pam ~ Your days are so full and you are doing so much good for your community. You truly are a saint. To answer your query, when our power is out we do not have heat. I have water and even hot water but that is it. That was the biggest concern I had whether the power would come back on before evening. It was already a cold day and we expected an even colder night. Fortunately, it did.
I made our Hamburger Pie last night (8 SP) and we enjoyed it very much. I put two servings in separate dishes in the fridge for another supper one night next week. I plan to put a turkey breast in the oven this afternoon and that will also provide leftovers for next week. DH shopped Wednesday and stocked us up on fresh fruits and vegetables (broccoli & cauliflower, asparagus, salad makings, sweet potatotes, etc) so I will do turkey tonight and then a pork sirloin tip roast in the crockpot one day (probably Monday). We ate a lot of carry-out food while I was sick, but I tracked carefully and my weight continued to drop.
I am going to go finish up some house-made chicken noodle soup that DH brought home from his VBF’s restaurant the other day for my lunch. I had my yogurt & berries breakfast with a HB egg for morning snack. I just keep plugging along.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue I hear you. LOVE the program...the meetings just aren't a 'good fit' at the moment. I cooked a turkey breast the other day and we are enjoying the leftovers. I did end up freezing some to enjoy later on.
Take care, all!

Happy Saturday!
I survived the hectic week and planned to sleep until 8:00 AM this morning, but set an alarm to make sure I didn't sleep too much. Well, I woke when the alarm went off, made myself get up and moving. I went to the bathroom, weighed, took my Rx and headed for the living room, only to find I DREAMED my alarm went off. It was only 6:30, but by then, I was wide awake. DH laughed and laughed.
I got all the hospice stuff done for the week on Thurs. and made it home in time to fix dinner. I found pork chops and gravy already made in the freezer and rounded out the meal with brown rice, broccoli and blackeyed peas. Yesterday, I went with DH to his endocrinologist appointment in BTR and then we had lunch at a salad bar. On the way home, DD1 called to see if I could pick up Abby when she got off the bus at the babysitter's, since the daycare was closed. She was out visiting the same patients I saw on Tuesday and would have had to come all the way home to get Abby and then drive all the way back after dropping her home with the older kids. I was happy to save her the trouble.
Abby was surprised to see me and very happy when I suggested a trip to Sonic for ice cream. We got some for the 2 older DGKs and headed home. They arrived on their bus shortly after and everyone enjoyed their treats. I wisely abstained, since I had a small cone at the salad bar at lunch. I visited with the kids for a short time, then headed home.
I headed into town for a massage, which I am hoping will aid the continued healing of my ankle. The pain is pretty much gone, but I still have swelling as the day wears on. My plan is to re-start yoga at home this week and then return to the studio next week. I have really missed it.
Judy, your success with returning to basic WW practice has inspired me and I am once again engaged. I started reading my Beck book last evening and made a new reminder card re: unplanned eating. It is not too cold today, nor raining, so a walk is on the agenda. I have the day's meals planned and tracked on iTrackBites using Points Plus. I lost weight and successfully maintained several years following PP, so I am confident it will work. One of the main things I will do is cut way back on my alcohol intake. It is so easy to get in the habit of daily indulgence and those empty calories add up fast as one glass of wine becomes two. In south Louisiana, alcohol is a cultural given and served at the majority of social events and even in theaters and at drive-thru daquiri shops. The Alzheimer's Educ conference speaker reminded us of the brain damage associated with excessive alcohol intake, though an occasional glass of wine is believed to be beneficial, with occasional being the key.
Today is a housework day, since very little other than laundry got done this week. I have windows open to air things out. It is mostly cloudy, but 70 degrees out. We are supposed to get another front that will bring us near freezing. The trees are starting to bud out, so I hope it's not too severe. DH has fresh carrots and beets coming up in the garden and various early-flowering trees like bridal wreath, redbud and Japanese magnolia are blooming. The azaleas are close to blooming, too. Spring is not far away!
Ann - I would be upset if a WW leader expected meeting attendees to do their work for them. And how boring to be read to! That's not at all what I experienced at meetings in the past, though I did have a leader for a very short time who did nothing but go over recipes. She was also not very encouraging and didn't last long.
Judy - Your plans sound fun. I never learned to knit, but can crochet, though I haven't in years. Water aerobics sounds like a fun way to exercise.
Sue - Believe me, I am FAR from being a saint. I just get pleasure from "helping" and when I retired from state service, I always knew I would find some type of volunteer work. I agree with you that the abrupt drastic changes WW made were not a good idea. I feel they were very dismissive of a lot of long-time customers when they completely did away with the groups and threads in favor of Connect. I'm glad your electricity came back on before you had to spend a frigid night!
Have a great OP day!

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Saturday!!
Pam ~ I had to LOL about you dreaming the alarm went off. That sounds like something I would do; and my DH would laugh and laugh as well. Sorry you missed out on that extra hour and a half of sleep.
I had a great time at breakfast with our cousin (actually one of DH's youngest cousins on his mom's side). I only got to know them when we had the three funerals this past summer. She and I bonded and we live nearby each other, so have made the effort to keep in touch. Her mom was my DH's youngest and favorite aunt back in the day and she loves hearing his memories. I made a quick trip to Meijer to spend a coupon that was expiring today and look around (as they are remodeling).
Since I am going to be gone again tomorrow, DH and I made a date for an early supper at Ruby Tuesday this afternoon. I had a big breakfast (and he ate out as well) so we look forward to the salad bar - plus they are running their 2/$24.99 special which includes the salad bar and an entree each and a dessert to share. We have a gift card burning a hole in our pocket (LOL) and this will be a fun outing.
I have been putting together a red and purple outfit for tomorrow - and since we are going to a dinner theatre matinee performance, we will wear either fascinators or headbands with red flowers in place of hats. That is the considerate thing to do when our hats would be a distraction to those behind us. We went to this theatre last summer and the food was very good and so was the play.
BBL. Make a great day!!
